Adrien was definitely taking more chances now that school was out, pushing his luck that Nathalie wouldn’t catch on to his late night comings and goings out of the window. But it was the only time he was free to just be himself. Any hope he’d had of being less busy during the summer had evaporated when he’d seen the schedule she’d set up for him. Just about every hour of the day had a shoot or an extracurricular lesson or an interview. It was driving him nuts and he needed to get out if he wasn’t going to explode. He still needed to find a lawyer that was willing to take on Gabriel to get Adrien more control over his own future and his earnings but that was a problem for tomorrow. Tonight? He just wanted to get out and enjoy the night air. Maybe hit one of the easier trails to hike since he was by himself.
He had his flashlight out as he got off his bike, making sure there was nothing on the path as he started walking towards the beach to sit for just a few minutes. Just until he figured out what he was going to do for the next few hours. He’d thought about texting one of his friends but Alya was babysitting more than likely and CJ was probably having time with her sister so in the end he’d decided against it. He found a rock near the ocean’s edge and sat down, staring out at the water.

Octavia knew that it drove her brother absolutely insane when she decided to head out at midnight. She loved her hikes and being out by herself. Last thing she needed was her big brother to have a conniption fit. Even if that's what he'd do. Have a fit. After all, it was midnight and she wasn't at home in bed. A place where he wanted her to be. He should've known it wouldn't be that simple or easy. Big brother would just have to deal with those supposed gray hairs.
Having grabbed a pack along with snacks and her own flashlight, she'd headed out to one of the trails that she frequented. One that she knew like the back of her hand. Except that there was noise in her usually quiet spot. Something that kind of threw her off at first, until she followed it down to the beach.
"Funny, I'm sure this place is meant for hiking. Not sitting on your ass looking all bored and heartbroken."
***
Adrien hadn’t heard Octavia approaching until she spoke and he jumped a little bit. His fencing instructor would tear him a new one if he ever found out that Adrien hadn’t been paying that much attention to what was going on around him. Luckily this was one adventure he wouldn’t be filling him in on so no lecture there. He gave his friend a slight smile. “I will give you bored but I am not heartbroken.” He didn’t let people close enough right now to break his heart. “What are you doing out here so late?” He asked, moving over enough to give her room to sit down if she wanted it.
***
When someone lived with a big brother they had to learn how to be quiet. Not that she snuck out on Bellamy too often. Her brother would have a fit and a half. Probably lose his damn mind with all the hiking she did. Considering the hour that she chose to do it in. Like she'd told Clarke, midnight was the best hour. Due to the silence and there not being a lot of people.
Moving over she sits down beside her friend and smiles," Are you really asking me that when I come out at midnight to go hiking a lot? I thought you knew me better than that." The last part is definitely teasing.
***
Adrien nudged her shoulder. “I know you do. I just always thought it was more in the hills than around the beach.” He said, careful not to shine his flashlight in her eyes while they sat there. “What pushed you to the beach tonight?” He asked.
***
"Normally? I do head more towards the hills," Octavia tells him, nudging his shoulder back. She didn't come down to the beach all that often. Not unless she was dragging her brothers down to it. It was easier to drag John to the beach than Bellamy.
She rests her hands behind her a bit," You making noise is what caught my attention, actually. Whenever I come out here there's nothing but silence. What're you doing out here?"
***
Adrien was looking back out over the water. "I had to get out of the house for a while. Nathalie has me scheduled every minute and it gets claustrophobic at times. Late night is the only time I can just...be me. And that's only outside the house." He never hid it from his friends how much he hated the public image he had to put forth.
***
"Claustrophobia sucks."
Not that she ever got claustrophobic at home, but she did get restless. It wasn't the same. Not in the least bit and she'd never try to say that it was. Honestly? She hated how often Adrien was scheduled, which was evident sometimes.
"How about you get off your butt and come on the trail with me. I've got snacks and water, so we won't have to worry about that."
***
“Yeah.” Adrien said, leaning back slightly, hands behind him as he looked at her.
“Depends. What kind of snacks did you bring?” He asked her with a grin.
***
She can’t help but give a bit of a smile and shakes her head. She’d get him off his butt and away from the beach, at some point. It’s not that she didn’t like the place, she did. The young Blake just liked her hiking trails more. Bellamy would probably feel better if it was only the beach that she enjoyed.
“Protein bars, chocolate, reese cups, and trail mix,” she tells him, stretching her legs out before getting up. “And, I’m pretty sure I have some m&m’s and reese pieces too.”
***
“Not the fudgy ones I hope” Adrien said as he stood up. “I am never going to understand why everyone seems to like those fudge brownie m&m’s”. He stretched his arms up over his head, leaning back slightly to try to stretch his back.
***
"Ew, no. If I wanted something fudgey, I'd get some fudge brownies," Octavia tells him with a bit of a chuckle. As for why people liked them, who knew. "Maybe they just like the fact that it's the candy shell with the fudge. Who knows." She stretches her legs a bit, watching him. "I tend to stick with the originals or the peanut m&m's."
***
“I’m going to get you to start buying the almond ones. It’s one of my goals. Just so we’re clear.” Adrien told her with a grin. He bent over to pick up his flashlight, double checking to make sure his phone was still in his pants pocket just in case.
***
“I have never actually had the almond ones,” she tells him with a bit of a chuckle. Though, she can’t help but smile at his whole bit of it being a goal to get her to buy them. “And how are you going to get me to buy the almond m&m’s? What’s in it for me, hm?” A part of her was teasing and another part wasn’t. She does, however, stand up and stretches again before moving to lead them away from the beach. “Me buying the almond ones is like saying that you’ll be going on more and more midnight hikes with me.”
***
Adrien laughed as he started to follow her. “Well...less likely to get in trouble joining you on midnight hikes than trying to climb in Marinette’s window. Or showing up at Alya’s because I couldn’t sleep.” Both things he’d done on some of his other sleepless nights. When not just finding someplace to watch the stars.
***
"Only way we'd get in trouble is if Bellamy decided to come out here, but he won't," Octavia tells him with a bit of a chuckle. "As for you climbing through windows, you wouldn't get away with that at my place." Watching the stars, however, was always the better way to go. Especially when someone couldn't sleep. “I think I drive my big brother crazy enough that he doesn’t want to come out here, though.”
***
"Your brother might be one of the few people that I actually care about getting upset with me. Among adults anyway." Adrien grinned at her. "It doesn't fly at Alya's either. Her parents want me to call and they'll let me in. Haven't tried it at CJ's yet."
***
"I'm sure that Bellamy knows that too," she states with a shake of her head. Adrien was probably one of the only guys that she hung out with that her brother liked. Otherwise, he made a bit of a fit when it came to guys.
Baby sister wasn't allowed to hang out with them. She's sure her brother was scared something would happen. That he wouldn't be able to be there to protect her. "Move your butt, slow poke. We've got a ways ahead of us."
