Simon still couldn’t quite believe that Clary was in the OC. The last few years without his best friend nearby had been tough, especially when he would dream about her and want to share things from the dreams, but she wouldn’t have understood. He’d never told Clary about him becoming a vampire, because it wasn’t like she would have believed him. Not that he even had to worry about any of that now since he’d been human again for just over a year now so she’d only have to see him like that when her dreams reached that point, which wouldn’t be for a while probably.
Now that Clary was in the OC though, it was time to introduce her to his friends who she would end up dreaming about eventually. First up was Izzy because it just made sense for his best friend and girlfriend to meet first.
He’d been wanting to bring Clary to Izzy’s bakery for awhile, but he also didn’t want their first meeting to be while Isabelle was working so he had planned for them to meet Clary at the park near The Institute.
“You haven’t dreamt about meeting Clary yet, right?” Simon asked Izzy as they walked towards the park, hand in hand. He knew Izzy was still at an early point in her dreams, but he hadn’t really asked exactly where she was in a while.
**
“Not yet,” she replied with ease, “from what I’ve heard, I’m nearing there.” Her eyes looked over at him, “so most likely soon. I’m a young adult, Jace is my adopted brother now. We are all stationed in New York and when I meet her, you aren’t far behind.” Izzy gave his hand a gentle squeeze, “I’m looking forward to meeting her now, I feel like I know all about her from what all you’ve told me.”
Her eyes looked around to see if she could spot Clary, “I’m just glad you have your best friend here.” Izzy could be a jealous person, to a point, but she had no ill will toward the girl, she was genuine looking forward to meeting her. “What time are we supposed to meet her?”
***
Clary was glad she was finally going to get to meet the famous Izzy. Simon talked about her a lot. And it was important for them to meet since they were both a big part of his life in different ways. Clary knew Izzy made Simon happy and that was all that mattered to her. She was glad she was making friends here too, and so far had been enjoying her time in the OC.
She spotted Simon and a girl who must have been Izzy and made her way over. “Hey, you must be Izzy, I’m Clary.” She said with a smile and offered her hand for the other girl to shake. And then Simon would be getting a hug. Izzy was really beautiful, and Clary couldn’t help feeling slightly jealous.
***
“I really wonder what makes some people dream quickly and what makes others dream slower.” Simon had expected that both Izzy and Jace would have dreamt further by now, but he supposed he couldn’t rush these things and they would both dream at their own pace. It was just frustrating to be so far ahead of them and knowing so much that happened and wanting to tell them, but also knowing that it was better for them to dream it on their own, for the most part.
“Right now,” He said as he spotted Clary and smiled as she approached them, “Hey. You haven’t been waiting long, have you?” He glanced from Clary then to Izzy, hoping that they would hit it off like they had in the dreams.

Izzy instantly took the red haired woman hand and shook it, “It’s nice to finally meet you, Clary,” She sidestepped for the pair could hug and then slid right back to his side, “I’ve heard a lot about you, it’s nice to finally get to meet the best friend of Simons.” She offered a smile as she snaked her arm within his.
As Simon asked if Clary had been waiting long, Izzy looked over at the other female, she was pretty as well, but there was no jealousy there, Izzy knew SImon was hers and Clary was only his friend. For a moment she wished they were at the cafe, somewhere to sit with food, maybe she’ll suggest it in a bit.
***
“No, not long at all. And it’s nice to meet you too, Izzy.” Clary said. She could already tell the other woman cared a great deal about Simon, and she was glad about it. Simon deserved the best, because he was the best. And it seemed like Izzy was really making him happy. She wondered how long they’d been together.
“It’s so pretty here, different from New York and where I was going to school.” She pointed out. “So how did you guys meet?” She was curious and wanted to know more about Izzy too. And she didn’t mind if they went somewhere to talk or eat either.
***
Simon couldn’t help but smile as he watched Clary and Izzy interact, happy to see that they appeared to hit it off right away much like they had in the dreams. “Oh yeah, the OC is definitely different from New York.” Simon missed home sometimes, but he’d been living in Orange County long enough now that New York felt a little less like home every day, “We mostly met through Izzy’s brother Alec.” There was also the dreams, but it had been mostly because of them both knowing Alec that they had met in person.
***
“It is very different,” she agreed instantly with a nod of her head, “I was gone for a few months in New York actually, I’m still getting used to how different this place is from time to time.” Izzy admitted, but she knew Simon would fill Clary in on how different this place is, this was not the time for that conversion. “We’ve met through my brother and cousin,” she said with a nod of her head, “We dated some before I left, but I think we are more than dating now,” she looked over at SImon, leaned over to kiss his cheek and than moved a hand to wipe her lipstick away with his thumb..
“How did you two meet?” she asked, “I’ve heard all about you, but never how you met,” at least she doesn’t think she heard about it.
***
Clary nodded listening to Simon and Izzy talk about where they’d met and how. She thought they way they were with one another was adorable. Maybe Clary would have something like that someday with someone. Not that she was rushing it. She wasn’t even seeing anyone right now. And she had to get settled in here and all that before she could really think about dating or doing anything else related to that.
“Simon and I grew up together in New York,” Clary explained. “Feels like we’ve always been friends.”
***
Simon nodded in response to Clary’s answer, “Yeah, we’ve basically known each other our entire lives.” He grinned at Clary, part of him still not able to fully believe that she was there. He knew that eventually that feeling would wear off, but for now he still felt like Clary being there was a dream and soon he’d wake up and find out that she was either still at school or had gone back to New York instead of deciding to move to Orange County, “Anyone want coffee or something?” There were a few cafes nearby and Simon thought it was probably a better idea than simply standing in the middle of the path at the park.
***
“Ah I see,” she replied with a nod of her head, it was cute to be best friends for so long, kinda like how she was with Jace and Alec even though they were related. She never cared for female friends till she met Cath at school. “Good idea babe, I was going to suggest we go back to my place but it would be nice to go to somewhere else,” She smiles “I own a cafe as well,” she explained to Clary.
***
“Yeah, Simon’s mentioned that,” Clary said with a smile. She was sure everything Izzy made was delicious too, but it would probably be nice for her to have a break from being there. “I don’t mind where we go, I’m new so I’ll follow your lead.” She added. She was sure Simon and Izzy knew a good place where they could all enjoy themselves and get out everyone else’s way. The park could be pretty busy, she was sure.
***
Simon thought for a moment, thinking of their location, “There’s a cafe on the other side of the park,” He said, pointing in the general direction, “Lets head that way.” He slid his hand into Izzy’s as they started walking and glanced over at Clary on his other side, “How’s your mom, by the way? Last time I talked to my mom, she said she saw her recently, but didn’t really say anything else.” He did wonder why Clary had chosen to come right to the OC instead of going back to New York to see Jocelyn, but he really couldn’t complain.
***
Izzy didn’t say much as they walked, she was letting them catch up, she knew Simon was happy to have Clary here and for that she was happy. She adores Simon and with all they had been through, she loved him even more than before. Her hand gave his a little squeeze as the friends talked.
***
“Oh you know my mom, quirky as ever.” Clary offered. Jocelyn had always been a little bit out there but she was definitely a good mom and Clary wouldn’t trade her for the world. In fact, she probably needed to call her soon. She made a mental note to do that. She walked with Simon and Izzy towards the cafe Simon had mentioned. He and Izzy made a good match and Clary was happy to see Simon so happy. Maybe eventually, she’d have that too, but she didn’t really know anywhere here yet and she wasn’t looking to rush into anything. But the thought of being so close to someone was nice.
