Where: The Beach
What: Spending a day at the beach
Rating/Warnings: Family Friendly
Status: Complete

It had been a few weeks since Liz and Max had gone out with the rest of their friends so when Max had texted her about a beach dae, she had agreed right away. After all, Liz hadn’t been to the beach in awhile and she very much liked the idea of seeing Max without a shirt; and if that were the case, Liz was going to give Max something to look at as well. The night before their beach date, Liz had spent a good amount of time deciding on which bathing suit she was going to wear.

In the end she’d decided on a classing black and white, striped bikini and had covered it up with shorts and a tank top, looking forward to Max’s reaction when she eventually disrobed.

“You know, we definitely need to get better at seeing each other,” Liz teased as they walked along the beach, looking for a spot to set up, “I think we keep forgetting that we’re dating now.” It had been awhile since Liz had last been in a relationship and she knew that both her and Max were kept fairly busy with their respective workloads so she was mostly teasing him about not seeing each other but at the same time they no longer had to make up excuses to see each other since it was expected now. She was sure that they would get better at the whole dating thing in time as their relationship continued to evolve.

“I think you’re right,” Max nodded, glancing over to her with a grin. “I keep thinking I’m dreaming.” He still couldn’t believe his good luck that Liz actually shared the same feelings for him. And that they were dating.

“So you’re saying I should call and bother you every day?” He teased. “Just completely enjoy being in love?” He was more than okay with doing that because he was completely head-over-heels in love with Liz.

Liz laughed as they maneuvered their way across the sand and nodded, “I mean, I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of hearing from you every day.” She glanced over at Max and smiled up at him from under her floppy hat, “Maybe I’ll start texting you every morning just to say good morning.” She had never really been the sappy type when she was in a relationship, but there was something about Max that was unlike anyone else she’d ever dated that made her want to do the sappy things. “How’s this spot?” She asked as they reached a fairly empty spot not too far from the water, but far enough that when the tide eventually came in, it wouldn’t reach them.

“Maybe I’ll text you first,” he countered, grin widening a bit further still. But he nodded at the suggestion, setting down the bags so he could get out a blanket and spread it out, transferring the bags to the corners to act as weights against any sudden gusts of wind.

“Perfect.”

Liz glanced over at Max as she set up her beach chair and started setting up the umbrella, “I’m okay with that too. As long as someone is texting someone.” Once the umbrella was secure, Liz took off her floppy hat and set it down on her chair before unbuttoning her shorts and sneaking a look over at Max to see if he was watching. Either way, whether he was watching now or not, she was sure that once she was stripped down to her bikini he would be paying attention. “So what did you pack for lunch?” She asked as she stepped out of her shorts then pulled her tank top over her head, tossing both articles of clothing in her bag then put her hat back on as she waited for Max’s reaction.

He’d been focusing on getting everything set up, and getting out two bottles of water, gently tossing one to rest by her chair as he unscrewed the cap on the second. It was a good thing he hadn’t taken a drink when he looked up to answer her question because Max was certain he would have choked.

As it was, his hand involuntarily tightened around the bottle, sending its contents spilling over, and making him gasp as the cold water hit him. “...guess that tells you how good you look.” As if she didn’t already know. “And tells me that I need to lose the shirt.”

Screwing the cap back on, Max set the bottle aside, pulling his t-shirt up and over his head. “Of course I’ve got nothing on you.”

Max’s reaction was definitely about what she had been expecting and laughed as the water spilled over the rim of the bottle, “Not gonna lie, I’m very satisfied now.” Sitting down on her beach chair, she watched as Max peeled off his shirt, briefly biting her bottom lip as her dark eyes trailed over his chest and abs before flicking back up to his face, “I don’t know about that. Have you seen yourself in a mirror?” She smirked as she leaned back in her chair.

He offered a sheepish grin. She’d planned that quite well, but then Max was only too happy for any opportunity to show how he felt about her.

“I have,” he nodded, moving to sit in the chair next to her. “And let me tell you….I’ve got nothing on you.”

Liz couldn’t help but smile as he repeated himself and she shook her head, “You’re just being modest. Now come over here so I can put some sunscreen on you so you don’t burn.” She was enjoying the view very much and she didn’t want him to get sunburned.

“Only if you let me repay the favor.” But he slipped out of his seat, moving to kneel in front of her so that she could get his back. “And thank you.”

“Of course. I might not burn as quickly, but I still need to be sun conscious. Hence the het.” She brought a hand up to show off her floppy hat, smiling, before she reached for the sun screen and popped the top. “So, you never answered my question. What did you pack for lunch?” She didn’t blame Max for not answering since he had gotten a little distracted by her bathing suit.

Squirting some sunscreen into her hands, she rubbed them together a little before placing them on Max’s shoulders and began rubbing it into his skin, biting her bottom lip a little as she let her hands roam along his shoulders and upper back.

“Right.” She had asked him that, hadn’t she. His head ducked a bit bashfully as she smoothed the lotion into his skin. “Nothing fancy, really. Some fruit, sandwiches, water obviously, and some soda. I didn’t think either of us really wanted to eat anything heavy in the heat.”

Liz nodded along as Max listed off the items he’d packed for lunch, “Oh definitely. You ever see on movies or tv shows where they always have things like fried chicken and other crazy things in picnics. How do you bring fried chicken on a picnic? Who wants to eat cold fried chicken?” Those things had never made sense to Liz, “Stand up so I can get your lower back.” She said, slapping his shoulder lightly.

“I actually like cold fried chicken,” he grinned over his shoulder at her. “But not at the beach.” And he didn’t care if she thought he was a Philistine for that opinion. But he stood at the swat. “Yes ma’am.”

“Typical guy. Why don’t you guys ever reheat anything?” Liz asked as she finished applying the sunscreen to Max’s lower back then reached for his hand and placed the bottle of sunscreen into it, “Alright, my turn.” Standing up from her chair, she turned around so that when he turned he’d be facing her back, “Make sure you don’t miss a spot. I don’t want an uneven tan.” She teased and she glanced over her shoulder.

“It’s easier,” came the answer with a shrug and a lazy grin.

Squirting some lotion into his hand, Max shifted, standing so that he could start spreading it evenly across her back. “Don’t worry, I won’t miss a spot,” he assured her, making sure to cover every inch, including slipping underneath the bikini straps in case they shifted.

“I think you should be good to go.”

“It’s gross.” Liz teased, smirking at Max over her shoulder then gathered up her hair and moved it aside, giving Max access to her back. Feeling Max’s hands on her back, Liz bit her bottom lip as he spread the sunscreen out along her skin. “Thanks.” She said, smiling as she took the bottle back from him once he was done and proceeded to spread sunscreen onto her arms and chest, “So, have any new dreams lately?” It had been a few weeks since Liz had had a new one; her last being the one where she found out that it had been Isobel who had killed Rosa and while Liz had told herself that she wouldn’t bring up the dreams today, she was curious if Max had dreamt anything new.

“You’re welcome.” He couldn’t help letting his gaze dip a moment - she really did look amazing in that bikini. Head ducked though as she questioned the dreaming. Shifting into his own beach chair, Max shook his head.

“Not since the last one.” It had been a few weeks. “I’m sure it won’t be much longer though. You?”

“Pretty much the same. I haven’t had any new ones in awhile.” Liz was sure that she was due for more soon and while she wanted to know what else was in store for them, she was also fine with the fact that she hadn’t had any new ones recently, “And now that we have Dream talk out of the way, we can enjoy the rest of the day without lingering on it.” She smirked and leaned back in her chair as she reached for her phone in her bag and pointed the camera at Max, “Say cheese.” She wasn’t about to spend the day with Max at the beach and not take a few pictures to look back on later and perhaps use to show off her hot boyfriend to Maria and Alex.

Grin widened a bit. “No more dream talk,” Max agreed. “But I hope you know that I expect pictures of you today, too. I’m not doing a solo photo shoot. In fact…” He stood, hand shading his eyes a minute.

“Excuse me, miss?” Max flagged down a passing woman. “Could you take a picture of us?” He wasn’t really going to give Liz the chance to back out of it.

Liz would be lying if she said that she wasn’t greatly impressed that Max had decided to take the initiative and ask someone to take a picture of them. Most guys she’d gone out with acted like it was the worst thing in the world to have their picture taken, “You are something else, Max Evans.” She said, smiling as she got up to hand the woman her phone then moved up close to Max, wrapping her arms around him. She honestly couldn’t wait to spend the rest of the day with Max, wondering what other surprises he had in store.
