Who: Octavia and Bellamy Blake What: Baby sister dreams When: June 19th Where: Home Rating/Warnings: PG Status: Complete Gdoc
A lot of people had talked about dreams and things that happened in them. Something that she hadn’t experienced. Or, at least she until now she hadn’t. The dream had been a bit of a jumble. It had reunited herself and her brother, however. Him talking about how much she’d grown. Though, thanks to Bellamy, she’d been the first one to set foot on the ground. More to keep her from going after someone, she’s not sure who. Even if she can’t picture getting into a fight with some random person.
She didn’t like dream her and she’d woken up with a slight gasp due to it, tears stinging her eyes. Octavia didn’t care that she’d told blondie about Finn being hers, even if she had no clue who in the hell that actually was. Someone that had been on the dropship with them. Hell, she’d left her brother back with the other delinquents. Blondie, Finn and the others she’d gone off with, they’d found things. But she just… she didn’t want to think about that. Or the sudden pain she was feeling.
“Bell?”
Slipping out of bed, she could feel her whole body trembling. A fear that had been coursing through her. The pain that happened to shoot through her leg and the one on her wrist from the stupid bracelet. One that seemed to be spiking with her anxiety. All she wanted to do was find her brother and curl up with him, like she used to when they were younger.
If Octavia didn't like who she was, she wasn't going to like who he was. Bellamy didn't like the asshole he was in the dreams. So far he's had three of them, each worse than the last. Letting there be chaos, fights, stringing up someone named Atom? for getting close with Octavia. He wasn't anyone to be proud of in these dreams. Listening to Jasper dying for days. Making demands to kill him if he wasn't better by morning. The only redeeming thing he's seen so far was him meeting Charlotte. He wasn't a complete asshole. He protected her, took care of her, consoled her. It was something at least. Bellamy had fallen asleep on the couch playing Call of Duty, Octavia's voice pulling him out of sleep. He sat up rubbing his eyes. "Octavia? What's the matter?"
Octavia doesn't say anything at first. There was nothing that she could say. Instead, she moves over the couch and curls up against her big brother's side, laying her head on his chest. Something that she hadn't done since she was little. Any time something ever scared the hell out of her, she'd always gone to the one person to protect her. The one who checked for monsters under the bed. She doesn't even realize the tears sliding down her cheeks and wraps her arm around her big brother's stomach. Bellamy would probably notice a very familiar bracelet on his baby sister's wrist. A nice little bangle that all of the delinquents sent to the ground had ended up with the damn things.
"Make it go away."
The younger Blake didn't care how small she sounded. All she wanted was for the dream to stop playing over and over in her head. Especially the spear that had been thrown from somewhere and it landing in Jasper's chest. Bellamy adjusted himself, pulling Octavia close to him as he'd done many, many times before. He didn't know what happened, what had scared her. Bellamy stroked her hair, consoling her as he always had done.
"Make what stop, O? What hap-" But as he shifted from sleep to consciousness to focusing on Octavia, other things started to shift into focus. And that's when Bellamy saw it. The bracelet - the tracker on her wrist. He'd hoped the dreams would skip her. Maybe it was foolish because he saw her there, but he wanted to believe she wasn't going to be exposed to any of it.
"Oh, O." Bellamy said, pulling her even tighter. He wished he could make them stop. For both of them, for all of them. He couldn't tell her it was going to be alright. He didn't know what was in store for them. All he knew was John had been through hell so far. It was one of those few moments where Bell felt helpless and he hated it. "The dream."
It wasn't a set of dreams for her. Just one very specific dream that kept playing over and over in her head. That spear shoved into Jasper's chest. Others pulling her down out of sight. The dream was too much for her to handle.
She feels that hold tighten and buries her face into his chest that much more. Though, when she moves she winces a bit in pain. Not that she cared about that in the moment. All she wanted was the monsters in the dark to go away. To leave her alone.
"I saw him get speared." "There's…going to be a lot about these dreams, O." They only get worse from here. But he couldn't tell her that. "I wish you didn't have to go through any of the dreams."
He'd have to text John in the morning. He'd successfully gotten his and Clarke's off and he knew John wouldn't hesitate to help out Octavia.
"If it makes you feel any better Clarke and I go on a rescue mission with Murphy and Wells." Bellamy hadn't realized it but he had called John…Murphy like he did in the dream until the words came out of his mouth. He left out the part where he gives him a time limit to pull through before he kills him…but this was about cheering her up. Putting a positive spin on it, however slim it was. "We get him back, O."
"We should clean that up a bit," Bellamy told her, pointing towards her leg. "I can make you hot chocolate too. With tons of marshmallows and whipped cream like when you were little," he offered. “I don’t want them.”
If she could avoid the dreams at all costs, she would. Even if from the sound of her brother’s words, that probably wasn’t going to be an option. She didn’t want to know about all the bad things in the dream. There was some of it that was okay and mainly that was the fact that her brother was there. Octavia’s so focused on what’s going through her head that she almost misses what her big brother said.
“So, he’s eventually okay?”
Jasper doesn’t die is what that sounded like. If that was the case, then she could handle anything thrown at her. Maybe. Or, at least, that’s what she’d tell herself. Her dream self would be just fine anyway. Since in the dream she seemed to be okay with Jasper.
Her eyes look towards her leg for a moment, sitting up,” Okay.” The younger Blake sibling was too tired and scared to really argue the matter. “I’d like that, Bell.” When in doubt? Hot chocolate, especially when Bellamy made it, was the best. "I think so. We got him back to camp and he was in bad shape." Bellamy could still hear the moans and groans from Jasper, listening to him slowly dying for days. "Clarke gets him the medicine she needs though but that's all I know so far. That's got to mean something good, right?" He hoped so. They didn't go through all of that for him to die, right?
"Leg tonight. Tomorrow we talk to John about getting that thing off."
"Come, sit," he said, getting up from the couch. This was at least something he could do to help. Octavia didn't want to hear that Jasper was in bad shape, but it was better than hearing that he was dead. "That's real good," she tells her big brother with a small smile. If Clarke had managed to get the medicine that Jasper had needed, then she could live with that. It meant that he didn't die out there.
"You really think Johnny can get this thing off?"
Honestly? She wanted to know what in the world it was transmitting. Or who it was transmitting to. The thing had a mind of its own as far as she was concerned. It was a bit painful on her wrist now that she really paid attention to it.
Getting up from the couch, she moves over and sits down where her big brother indicates. "Does dream me ever tell you about the big water snake thing?"
"Are you doubting Johnny?" Bellamy teased. "I'm gonna tell him you said he can't."
That much he knew. Clarke told him more than once. It was exactly why dream him had wanted them off as soon as possible. In the dream he wanted the Ark to think everyone was dying for some reason.
As Bellamy pulled some things out and tended to the blood on her leg he shook his head. "I don't think you mentioned it." In his dreams they weren't as close as they are here. “You know good and well that I’m not doubting Johnny. When have I ever doubted any of my big brothers?”
Ten to one said that John wouldn’t believe Bellamy even if he said that she’d doubted him. Then again, there’s no telling what would or wouldn’t happen. He might just believe her big brother more than her or vice versa. With John there was no telling sometimes. It definitely kept them on their toes.
“Supposedly we’d found a body of water. Dream me thought it a good idea to strip down and go swimming. Even though she doesn’t know how to swim. But supposedly it was deep enough to stand in and then the water snake thing came out of nowhere. So, dream me had to be saved. It was all stupid.”
"Teasing you," he said, sticking his tongue out at her.
Bellamy sighed. "Dream you is as risky as real you." He was going to have his hands full in both worlds. "Midnight hikes…swimming in unknown places."
Once her leg was all taken care of, Bellamy returned everything to the kit and closed it. He washed his hand and started making their hot chocolates.
"Whoever saved you deserves a medal and a certificate. And a party in their honor," he told her. "Who did save you?" She sticks her tongue back out at her brother when he does so to her.
“Hey, I’ve never gone swimming in unknown places here, big brother. Even if a friend of mine suggested swimming instead of hiking,” she tells him, more to get a reaction out of him than anything else.
Octavia leans back in the chair looking down at her leg before back at her brother,” That would require him to be here. I’m pretty sure that I’d recognize him if he was.” If only because he’d been in her dreams and dream her seemed to like him. It made her wonder just how close they really were.
“Jasper saved me.” "Let's hope that's never the case," he returned. "New rule. No swimming in unfamiliar places," Bellamy added.
"Him? Him who? I mean it would if he were here. But in the dreams he deserves all the same." He probably needed a pass from his dream self. Bellamy wasn't a very fair leader.
"Jasper?"
And his dream self wanted to kill the poor kid. She rolls her eyes at the mention of the new rule. That would require her brother to keep an eye on her 24/7 and he couldn’t do that. Not that she had any inclination of heading off swimming at an ungodly hour. Octavia knew exactly where her brother’s mind would go on that one. Like she’d told her friend, her brother would probably think of skinny dipping or her being off with some boy.
“If not for Jasper, I would’ve been dragged under the water probably to never be seen again.” Exactly where his mind would go.
"Well, I'm glad in the dreams we went back and rescued him. And that Clarke got the medicine he needed," Bellamy added.
Bellamy poured the hot chocolates, topping them with mini marshmallows until they fell over the edge of cup and onto the counter. He swirled the whipped cream on top and drizzled it with Hershey's.
He placed the cup in front of O and sat down with his own. Octavia knew how her big brother thought. Bellamy probably wasn’t the only one whose mind would go in that direction. John’s probably would too. Both of them liked trying to keep her out of trouble. It didn’t mean that it worked, but for big brothers it worked semi-well enough. For the most part. Honestly, it depended on whether or not she decided to listen or not.
“I’m glad that Clarke was able to help him. That might actually help me sleep a little better later.” Not that she had any intentions of going back to sleep. Tomorrow was bound to be a day where she was tired as could be and barely able to do anything. After the dreams tonight, she wanted nothing to do with sleeping.
Taking the cup of hot chocolate she gives her big brother a small smile before taking a sip of it, whipped cream ending up on her upper lip. That never failed whenever her brother made them hot chocolate. It was always better this way.
