"Well, I'm sure you'd like to think that, but I've noticed that animals, as a whole, are a far tougher audience than adult humans," was Loki's wry answer. He was also still petting Katie's nose, instead of worrying about leash or apple either one. "It's rather similar with children, actually. They're easier than animals, but a far tougher crowd than their parents, even if the adults are sober for it."
None of that showed how much it amused Loki, admittedly, but perhaps she'd be able to tell anyway.
Meanwhile, JoJo got to show off his excellent training once again, as Loki finished unwinding the leash from his hand, dropped it to the ground, and only stepped on the end of it a little bit – the dog, meanwhile, sat there ignoring the whole production, proving that he remembered what ground-tethering was supposed to mean for him just as much as it was for any horse. And now Loki's hands were free, and he only had to croon at the horse a little bit, reaching up to pet that ear now, rubbing her nose with his other hand for a moment, and then his hand snaked out toward Sif's bag as promised and oh, look, Katie! An apple! How delightful!
