"Duet," Alex told her. "Definitely a duet." He hadn't resisted when Maria informed him they were going out. He knew it would be a fun time. He hadn't realised at first that they were going to a karaoke night. If he had, well. He'd still be here, he just would have had a little longer to build up the anxiety.
He knew what she was doing, though. She was giving him a little experience performing in front of a crowd. It was an entirely different sort of crowd, sure. But it was still a crowd. And while karaoke was nothing like playing guitar in front of strangers, it was a steppin stone. Once this was over and in his belt, he'd feel a little better about the real performance he was doing Friday night with Alex.
"What looks good to you?" He'd follow her lead. He was very much a follower rather than a leader. He'd never be the frontman of any kind of performing group.
