Who: Margo Hanson & Katherine Pierce When: Backdated: Early March: Before the Quarantine Where: The Mall What: Random meeting over shopping Rating/Warnings: Family Friendly Status: Complete
Despite the fact that her job was basically shopping, shopping was still one of Margo’s favorite pastimes. Besides, when she was shopping for work she had guidelines to go by and when she was shopping for herself or her friends she could buy whatever she wanted. She had no guidelines, no rules to go by; she simply bought what she liked or what she knew her friends would like.
Today she already had two dresses she’d tried on as well as a blazer for Roman and a vest for Eliot. She had now moved on to shoes and was currently looking at two different pairs of pumps.
Katherine was spending some hard earned money today, she was trying to not go overboard, but hey, she got money and there were clothes with shoes that needed to be bought. She had a few items in her arms, as her eyes looked over the shoes, but then she noticed a dress a woman near her had. She smirked slightly as she spoke up, “Where did you find that dress?” she asked.
She wasn’t shy and if there was a dress like that in her size, she was going to get it.
Margo glanced up as someone asked her a question and she turned towards the other woman, “I got it on that rack,” She said, giving the woman a once over, “There’s another one that would look better on you though,” Working in fashion for as long as she had, Margo had a good eye for what would look good on someone, “I can show you, if you want.”
Katherine smirked, “I always say yes to looking better,” she told her with a laugh the smirk turned into the smile, “please do!” She grabbed what she had and nodded for the other woman to lead the way, “I’m Katherine and thanks for the tip!”
“Who wouldn’t?” Margo returned the smile and began moving towards another rack, “Margo. Nice to meet you,” Margo wasn’t the sort to make friends easily, it usually took her some time to really let down her walls enough to actually be real with someone, but there were rare occasions when she put aside the snark and sarcasm and actually let herself act like a regular girl, “Right here.” She glanced at the other woman again then grabbed one of the dresses off the rack in what she was fairly certain was her size.
“Nice to meet you as well,” she replied with ease, Katherine didn’t make friends easily as well. Some of the people she called friends were closer to Elena then her. There was Peter, but was he a friend? Eh, maybe...depends on the day of the week. When they got the rack, Katherine looked it over and smiled when Margo pulled a dress off, “I do love that color.”
Margo handed the dress over to Katherine, “The color will suit you better than this one.” She gestured to the dress Katherine had originally asked her about. “Now you just need shoes and accessories.” Margo’s favorite part of shopping tended to be the accessorizing part. Of course she loved picking out the clothes, but different accessories could make one outfit work for several different things.
Katherine's eyes lingered to the dress she asked about and then to the one Margo handed her, “Good point,” she nodded her head in agreement, this dress was better. She chuckled softly, “lead the way,” she never really had a friend she could shop with and Margo seemed to know what she was talking about. “I do like heels,” she offered, “and bracelets.”
“Who doesn’t like heels? When you’re as vertically challenged as we are, help in that department is always welcome,” Sure, Margo had come out to do some shopping for herself, but she’d never pass up a chance to help someone else; well unless she was in a bad mood. After all, she’d met Roman because she’d decided to give her opinion on the suits he was buying at the time. Leading the way over to the accessories, Margo took another look at the dress before taking two bracelets off a display, “These would work with that dress.”
“You got that right!” Katherine agreed, having a heel was always better for the shorter woman. She smiled as followed Margo and nodded her head in approval as the bracelets were chosen, “I do love those,” she agreed as she moved to take them, moving her thumb over them, “these are very nice!” She was impressed, Margo knew what she was doing, she smiled, “thank you!”
“You’re welcome,” Margo smiled as she watched Katherine; she had certainly been easier to help than some of the semi-famous brats she dressed for various events. Some of these idiots thought that just because they had one hit single or were going to the premier of their first movie it was okay to treat everyone else around them like shit, “I hope you have someone to show it off to.” She quirked a brow mischievously.
She chuckled, “Sadly no, but I’ll find someone,” she assured her, “I’ve been all about work, this is the first time I can actually spend some time on me and I plan on going out.” She smiled as she shifted the bracelets around her fingers and the dresses up on her arms. “It’s nice to just have time to yourself, when you are stuck behind a bar or in an office for most of your days.”
“I know exactly what you mean.” Margo said, brushing her wavy hair off her shoulder, “I always try to make time for myself so that life and other things don’t drive me fucking crazy.” It was the dreams more than anything else that had the potential to drive Margo crazy, but luckily she hadn’t had any in a few months. “Either my fiance and I go out or my best friend and I go out. Get some drinks and just try not to think about anything else.”
“Sounds nice,” Katherine replied, “I moved back a few months ago, I just work or have family time with the siblings, we lost our parents a few years back.” She shrugged one of her shoulders like it was no big deal, but Katherine was enjoying herself now. “Hey, how about some time this week, you come to the bar and I’ll buy you a drink?”
Margo wasn’t entirely sure what to say in response to the part about Katherine’s parents, but had a feeling that Katherine wasn’t the type to like pity so she decided to move on to the next thing that Katherine said, “Which bar?” Margo had been to a number of the bars in Orange County, mostly with Eliot over the last couple of years and she wondered if she had already been to whichever bar Katherine worked at.
Katherine wasn’t the type to like pity so she was glad Margo glossed over it. “I manage Fangtasia,” she said with ease as she looked at a few more items on a rack, “I’m normally there mid-morning til closing.” She smiled at her, “you might have been before, we have a lot of people stop in.”
Margo nodded, “I have been there before. It’s a pretty interesting place,” She’d gone there both with Roman and with Eliot and now she realized that Katherine definitely looked familiar, “You can bet I’ll stop in soon.” A night out would be good for her and Eliot since she didn’t see her best friend quite as often as she did before she’d moved in with Roman.
“Good!” she told her with a nod of her head, before she could say anything else, a notification came from her cell. She shifted all the items in her hand to pull it out and then sighed, “Speaking of work, someone called in. I should get this paid for and get going. Thanks for your help and when you come, go to the bar and ask for me!”
