There was rarely a time when Denki felt he hadn't missed something important going on. He tried his best when it came to his friends, but he still couldn’t pinpoint what had happened between them. Izuku was teary-eyed, Kacchan had gotten up to leave, and Denki quickly pulled himself upright to glance between them and try very hard to figure this out.
“Hey, hey, hey! It’s okay -- what’re you so upset for? You brought a blanket, that’s super nice!”
He looked back to Katsuki, catching his eye as the other left. It felt like time had slowed, just for a second. Just long enough for Denki to sense the edges of Katsuki’s discomfort as he walked away.
He didn't fully know why Katsuki wanted to go, but he could understand the feelings behind it. Too many emotions, not enough space. Maybe the other just wanted time alone to process. Denki could at least be there for Izuku now, though he gave a fleeting smile to Katsuki before he was completely gone.
Climbing off the couch, he moving to Izuku’s side and flung an arm around him without a moment’s hesitation. Maybe Izuku didn’t know he needed some support too, but Denki wanted to give it to him anyway. It was just a misunderstanding, after all.
At least, he was pretty sure that’s what it was.
“Maybe we’ll use it another night, yeah?” He asked, grinning as he gave the other a friendly squeeze. “Don’t worry so much. D’you wanna make the omelettes together?”
