Valentine’s Day was usually a fairly busy one for Felix; not only did some of his celebrity clients like to throw parties around that time, but a lot of people wanted to get married around that time as well so going away for Valentine’s Day usually wasn’t something he was able to do so he and Eliot had decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day the following weekend. They had rented an Airbnb in Paso Robles and then had opted to drive the four hours instead of flying so they could do a little sightseeing on the way.
They had spent their first day there doing more sightseeing, once they’d arrived, and had visited a winery before heading to dinner. After dinner they had hit up a bar or two before heading back to their Airbnb to continue their belated Valentine’s celebrating.
The next morning Felix groaned slightly as he rolled over, the sun creeping in around the edges of the curtains. For a moment a contemplated trying to go back to sleep, but he and Eliot had more plans for the day and he didn’t want the day to get too far away from them.
Not wanting to wake Eliot up just yet though, Felix got up and went to start the coffee making before crawling back into bed and sliding up close to Eliot then proceeded to leave a trail of kisses from his neck up to his ear, “Eliot...time to wake up.”
***
Valentine’s weekend was too hectic for Eliot to even think about suggesting he and Felix do something for the holiday but he’d still wanted to celebrate. And get some time alone with his boyfriend and no distractions which is why his phone was staying in the car most of the time. If Minako needed him to clarify something she’d either leave a message or message Felix to ask Eliot to get back to her if it was that time sensitive. He’d had a few drinks more than his normal the day before but still nowhere near the amount he’d been consuming before Margo had sat him down and made him see how destructive he was being.
He grumbled in his sleep as Felix started waking him up, saying something that almost sounded like 5 more minutes if you tried hard enough to make it into words. His eyes finally opened and he turned his head to give his boyfriend a sleepy smile. “Are you sure about that? Because I’m pretty comfortable right here.” He teased. Last night had proven beyond any doubts he might have had lingering from his last dream that the whole ‘you can’t sleep with anyone but your wife without dying’ law hadn’t crossed over to his life here. No death for having sex with his boyfriend. Put one tally down for good luck in this life on that score.
***
Felix was especially glad that the whole no sex outside of marriage thing hadn’t bled over from Eliot’s dreams, because that would have put a real damper on their get-away. “Well, we could probably stay in bed for a little while longer, but I did just start the coffee maker.” Felix pressed a kiss to Eliot’s temple and pulled back a little to gaze down at his boyfriend; he always loved the way Eliot’s curly hair was disheveled in the morning, rouge curls falling into his eyes and splayed out on the pillow. “So, we have some time.” He reached out and moved one of those curls away from Eliot’s forehead.
***
Eliot’s hand slid slowly up to rest lightly on the small of Felix’s back and used a small amount of pressure to pull him in closer as he gave him a sweet kiss. “And I would hate to waste your coffee. But….I’m comfortable right where we are for a few more minutes.” He let out a soft sigh. “So what are we starting with today?” He asked, eyes closing halfway.
***
Felix didn’t resist as Eliot pulled him down and he kissed him back, “Well it’s a good thing the coffee will be okay for a little while if we don’t drink it right away.” Felix smirked and settled back down against Eliot, one hand resting on Eliot’s chest, “Just general sight-seeing. We can spend tomorrow morning in bed until we have to head back.” It made more sense to get the most out of their Saturday and then relax on Sunday.
***
Eliot smirked back at him, kissing his temple lightly as Felix settled into the bed beside him. “Promise? Because I can come up with ways to hold you to it.” He said, only part way teasing him. “You’re not going to try to get me on horseback are you?” He raised one brow as he looked at him.
***
Felix laughed and brought his hand up to run his fingers along Eliot’s stomach, lightly, “Oh, I’d love to know what sort of things you can come up with to hold me to it.” By now he had a very good idea of the type of things that Eliot could come up with in that head of his, “Don’t like horseback riding? Did you have a bad experience with a horse in the past?” Felix had never been horseback riding, but he would try anything at least once.
***
Eliot shivered slightly at that gentle touch. Felix definitely knew his weaknesses and how to take advantage of them. “Maybe I should make them a surprise for you.” He teased him, gently touching over the small of his boyfriend’s back. “I used to like it a lot - I just haven’t had a lot of practice the last few years. I might have forgotten how.”
***
If Felix didn’t know Eliot’s weaknesses by now then that meant he hadn’t been paying attention and what kind of boyfriend did that make him? “I do like surprises; unless they’re bad ones of course.” He smirked, his fingers continuing to run lightly over Eliot’s stomach and side, “Well, maybe we can go horseback riding another time. I’m pretty sure none of the pants I brought with me would allow me to climb up on a horse.” Skinnyjeans might have done wonders for Felix’ physique, but they didn’t allow for the sort of movement that he would need to get on a horse.
***
“When have I ever given you a bad surprise?” Eliot asked him. “And you can’t use Gerald because I know how much you love him.” He stole a quick kiss. “Probably not. But...when we get home...maybe then we can find a place for us to go riding. As long as you promise not to laugh if I’m awful at it now.”
***
Felix pretended to have to think about that for a moment before smirking and leaning down to press a kiss to Eliot’s lips, “Never. And Gerald wasn’t a bad surprise.” He propped himself up slightly on an elbow and used his other hand to card his long fingers through Eliot’s messy curls, “Now how can I be expected to agree to that? I might not be able to help myself.” Felix teased, just picturing the random things that could happen to Eliot on a horse that could cause him to laugh.
***
Eliot always loved when Felix played with his curls that way. It was probably his favorite way to actually wake up in the morning. If it had been anyone else though...he’d probably have slapped their hand away by now. He gave his boyfriend a slow smile as he reached up with one hand to push a curl back out of his face, “Because...wounded pride?”
***
“When has your pride ever been wounded enough that you take things seriously?” Felix smirked then leaned over to kiss Eliot once more before sliding away from him and off the bed, “Now come on, coffee is ready so we should get ready too.” He reached for one of his silk kimonos and slipped his arms into it and tied the sash around his waist then moved towards the door of the bedroom, quirking a brow at Eliot.
***
Eliot laughed at that teasing comment. “You’re not ready to hear that story.” He said as he sat up, running one hand back through his hair and messing up the curls even more. “Since you asked so nicely,” he teased climbing out of bed and stretching before reaching for his robe. Tying the belt as he walked towards the door. “Since you made the coffee - I’ll make breakfast.” He stole a soft kiss as he went past. Fancy cooking could wait until dinner that night.
