Valentine’s Day was always a little stressful for Simon because he wanted it to be perfect for Isabelle despite the fact that he knew that all she really cared about was that they spent it together. There was also the fact that this was their first Valentine’s since they had gotten back together so Simon has wanted it to be extra special for her.
He’d gotten reservations at one of Izzy’s favorite restaurants, which had also become one of his favorites since he had become human again and could enjoy food once more. He’d also sent her flowers that morning at the bakery and as a gift, at dinner, Simon had given her a bracelet he’d had made from strings from his guitar and red crystals that had reminded him of her necklace from the dreams that she had yet to receive.
After dinner they had decided to take a walk before heading back to the Institute. Simon had no idea if Jace had gone out or not, but either way taking a walk with Isabelle sounded like a much better idea than going right home, “Having a good time?” He asked, squeezing her hand as they walked towards a nearby park.
He had made this day perfect for her and honestly she didn’t want the night to end, so taking a walk was a perfect way to extend the night. When he asked her if she was having a good time, she arched a brow at him, but her smile was bright and loving, “Yes,” she told him, “such a great time,” Izzy assured him as she leaned her head on his shoulder.
“You have spoiled me,” she moved her wrist up, “made me something that’s a piece of you,” she loved that string from his guitar, “You have upped your game, Simon.” She snickered at him and leaned up to kiss his cheek. “I know I’ve been busy today, but I did...make your favorite desserts and we are going to sample or eat all of them when we get home.”
Simon smiled, happy that Izzy liked the bracelet. He had chosen the red crystals because they had reminded him of the necklace she wore in the dreams and since she didn’t have the necklace yet, he’d decided that she needed something red in the meantime, “I’m glad you like it. I wanted to give you something that was one of a kind.” Simon was no good at picking out jewelry, which was part of the reason he’d had the bracelet made.
At the mention of his favorite dessert, Simon’s brows rose slightly, “You did? Did you hide them so that Jace won’t come home looking for something to snack on and eat them all?” Of course he didn’t think Jace would actually eat all the desserts; after all, Jace had to keep himself in shape, but that didn’t mean that Simon couldn’t joke about it.
“Magnus warned Jace may crash our night as well, but honestly, I’m not worried about it, I made him some sugarless stuff, his name is on the containers, so hopefully he’ll eat those first,” she chucked with a shake of her head, “plus I think he would have plans today at least with whoever he’s seeing at the moment.” Which reminded her, she needed to touch base with him soon, it’s been awhile since they talk than the casual conversation.
“What are we going to watch when we get home?” she asked him, “you decided on a movie or shall I pick?” Izzy asked with a smile and than added, “You can totally pick.”
Simon nodded and squeezed Izzy’s hand, “I honestly have no idea what Jace is up to tonight. Far as I know he’s only seeing that guy Jesus. He told Alec and I that he was going to break it off completely with Nine.” But Simon didn’t think that Jace and Jesus were in the Valentine’s Day date place yet, “You do know that telling me that I can pick the movie means that you might have to watch something sci-fi or fantasy related, right?” He glanced over and smirked at Izzy.
“It’s good he’s picking, “ she nodded her head, “Although I don’t really know Jesus, but am looking forward to meeting him.” Izzy smiled at Simon, “I do love how you became so tight, tempted to tease you about being besties, but I’ll save it for another night.” Izzy chuckled, “yes, I’m aware, it’s my gift to you!” Shifting to lean into him more, her chin on his arm as she smiled up at him, “just nothing too crazy, okay?”
Simon nodded, “Yeah, it is. I can understand why he was drawn back to Nine at first, but after what happened with him, I think Jace will be better off with Jesus.” Simon also hadn’t officially met Jesus, but he had a feeling that once Jace made things official with him, he’d introduce him to everyone, “Yeah, it’s nice knowing for sure that Jace and Alec are my friends here. In the dreams, I’m never really sure if they’re just still tolerating me and figuring I’ll go away eventually.” Of course considering Simon was currently training to be a Shadowhunter, in the dreams, unless he died during the ascension, he wasn’t likely to go anywhere. “Don’t worry, I won’t choose anything too crazy.”
Izzy laughed slightly at his joke about the dreams, “I’m not sure,” she said since she wasn’t there yet, “But I’m sure they like you, just never openly say it.” She winked up at him, “Good,” to him not going too crazy about the movie. She didn’t mind the movies he watched, she enjoyed some of them like Star Wars or was it Trek….maybe both of them. “Wanna head back and get our movie night started?”
“Well, Jace messes with me any chance he gets and Alec is ignoring me, for the most part,” Simon wasn’t entirely sure why Alec was acting the way he was, in the dreams, considering he knew they’d ended on fairly good terms before Simon’s memories had been erased. Of course he had a feeling that he’d find out eventually; unless he died during the ascension before he got the chance. “But I’m sure it’ll all make sense eventually. Wait till you have more dreams, our dream world is bat shit crazy.” It was interesting, being so far ahead of Izzy in the dreams, but he knew she’d catch up eventually. “That sounds like a good idea.” They had almost reached the park exit and The Institute wasn’t too far from there.
“Alec is ignoring you?” she frowned a little, she wondered why that was, but she will find out in time most likely, sooner than later. “I have heard some of it from Alec and Magnus, Jace, I honestly didn’t even believe some of the tales at first, but when everyone,” she bumps into him lightly, “has nearly the same story, you have to believe in it.” Izzy did whole heartedly. “Good,” when he agreed to her idea and they started to head back to the Institute.
“Yeah, I don’t really know why. I can’t think of anything that happened that would warrant it.” Sure, their trip to Edom had been stressful for all of them, but what could have caused Alec to ignore him the way he was now that Simon’s memories of the Shadow World had been erased? Simon glanced over at Izzy and quirked a brow above his glasses, “Or we could have made it all up and this is a giant conspiracy against you.”
Izzy eyed him for a moment, “I would like to think, all three, no four of you, would know better than to do that to me.” She smiled at him, “plus you all have about the same story, if you were lying, one of you would have slipped up by now.” She chuckled, “but if you are lying, which I don’t think you are, you should get together and write a book, it's a fabulous story."
