Anakin had sent the text to Lily:
>>Broke up with Padme >> Can I come over?
When he got the ‘okay,’ he grabbed an Uber and headed over to Lily’s.
He knocked quietly on the door and waited for Lily to answer.

While Anakin visiting was never an unpleasant surprise that text message had definitely thrown her at first. Lily hadn’t even known that there was a problem in her friends relationship and now they’d broken up? She was curious but she wasn’t going to push about it. She was just going to be the good friend and be there with him. Talking or not talking whatever it was he needed right now. She heard the knock on her door and closed her laptop, setting it down on the coffee table as she got up to answer it. Emails could wait until later.
“Hey come on in.” Lily said, waving him through the door and closing it behind him.

Anakin was jumping through emotions fairly quickly. Some moments he felt very sad, some… just numb, some he was angry, and other moments, it wasn’t so much an emotion but a wish that he could go back to Arizona where none of this mattered.
He stood just inside the door for a moment and then asked, “Can I have a hug?”I

"Of course you can." Lily told him as she stepped closer and wrapped her arms around him in a hug, head resting next to his. "Whatever you need I'm here." She said quietly. God only knew he'd done this for her when James had to go back to England.
***
“How did you deal with James leaving?” Anakin asked, still hugging Lily. How did he not feel like people didn’t want to stay in his life? He was tired of people leaving.

“Threw myself into work and school. And drank more tea than any person ever should. I also boxed up all the things that he’d left here and shoved them in the back of the closet. And started researching getting a dog. Anything to distract me from it.” Lily told him softly.
***
“Isn’t tea healthy for you, though?” Anakin asked, focusing on the most ridiculous aspect of that answer because the other parts kind of hurt to think about. He would have to probably do the same, put anything he found of Padme’s in a box, somehow get those things to her, and then just focus on work. All the time.
He finally let go of Lily, a hug had been the right thing at that moment.
“Anything distracting you want to do now?” Because he could really use a distraction.
***
“Not when you load it down with sugar like I was.” Lily said with a little smile at the memory. “And I had to get my roommate to help with boxing up some of the things that had been left behind.” She stepped back after he let go of her. “I was thinking about cooking something for tomorrow that way I don’t have to try to fit the cafeteria in between my classes. Or...we could watch a movie or anything that’ll help get your mind off things.”
***
Anakin didn’t want to disrupt Lily’s plans for the following day. He knew her life was extremely hectic. So he offered to help.
“Tell me what to do, and I’ll… try to do it.” In all honesty, he wasn’t the best cook, but he really wanted to help.
***
“I’ll make a deal with you - you chop and I’ll cook. Because I honestly don’t want to chop vegetables tonight. Sound good? Put on some spotify and just hang out?”
***
“I can chop vegetables,” Anakin said. “They might not look pretty, but if you’re okay with that.”
He started moving towards the kitchen. “You can pick the music because I’m bad at decision-making tonight.”
***
“They don’t have to be pretty - they’re going to be tasty.” Lily said, nudging him gently with her shoulder as she passed by with her phone in hand. She pulled up spotify, searching through for one of her custom mixes that wouldn’t have any depressing songs or love songs either one on it. Upbeat happy classics was the way to go for them.
