It was a good thing Denki was pretty sure he could speak fluent Katsuki. The other boy may have been tough on the outside, but it was to hide a kind heart wasn't it? At least, that’s what Denki thought. And when he knew Kacchan was being serious, he always took the other’s advice into consideration. Being confident was just tough sometimes. Katsuki always made it look easy when he did everything so well. It was kind of amazing, really. Maybe Denki could learn to be like that one day too.
But if nobody wanted to date him as he was, that didn’t explain how he’d gotten Kacchan to have dinner with him. It was a thought that cheered him up immensely, a slight smile appearing again as he sat up straighter.
“You’re always confident. I bet you could get a girlfriend. Don’t’cha want someone?”
The waitress had come back yet again before he’d gotten an answer, not that he thought Kacchan would tell him that much -- but it was totally worth asking. He placed his order for not-at-all-spicy ramen, only looking somewhat bashful in the moment. Good enough.
Fortunately the food really was good. He could be talked into coming back, especially when the waitress was still so nice to them. Denki even ordered mochi bites to go, wanting to share with the others when they got back.
“Maybe if I’m not by myself it’ll be okay,” he admitted, smiling at the other and resting his head in his hand, elbow against the table. “Or we could come back for your birthday... I know I don’t have do something, but I wanna. It’s an important day! I bet you did birthday stuff with Izuku back in Kamakura, right?”
He’d have to ask Izuku about that eventually. Katsuki could be a mystery sometimes, but that didn’t stop Denki from prying. How else as he going to make this a special birthday if he didn’t get intel?
