And just like that, the Dreams were done. Colleen had known that the whole Iron Fist issue would be resolved somehow, though she hadn’t known what to expect. Mostly that Danny would realize she wasn’t the one meant for it and that would be that. But no. She had initially rejected it as she had thought she would. But then BB had been killed and she realized that she had to do it. She couldn’t expect others to step up if she didn’t take her own advice.
Not to mention the fact that Frank Choi apparently knew a story her mother had told her which was...impossible. Or just one more thing in her life was a lie. But there wasn’t time to deal with that when there was BB’s death and taking on the Iron Fist to deal with. And the fact Davos initially woke up so she had to complete the transference or they would both die? It was a lot.
Then there was Danny leaving but also the fact that the story her mother had told her as a child could be the history of her family - that perhaps she was always meant for the Iron Fist after all and finding her place as the new Iron Fist…
Waking up, Colleen winced, her arm in pain. And one look verified what she had worried about. The tattoo - a cross between the Dragon on Danny’s chest as well as the symbol on the kamon. But that didn’t necessarily mean that she had the power of the Iron Fist. Groaning in frustration, Colleen got out of bed and ready for the day. Things were being decidedly odd the past few days. People seeming to be angrier than usual.
But people being angrier than usual was no reason to stay in. There were errands to be run before she had classes later on in the day, so for now she would just focus on that and not try to make sense of the end of her dreams.
Sometimes, sometimes you just needed to snap, all the anger boiling over until it just exploded out. Which was why Tifa punched the oil truck, sending it skidding across the road, the engine ruined. She was already pretty strong and well trained (she did punch big monsters in her dreams) but it was all amped up.
She stalked towards it, dodging out of the way as a car skidded past her and crashed into a pole.
But mostly, she wanted to take it all out on a symbol of everything wrong with society.
Now Colleen had been minding her own business, she just wanted to get her errands done and be done with it. But she’d been walking past the pole when the car suddenly slammed into and she turned and looked to the woman who was stalking towards it.
“Hey, watch it.”
Good idea? Probably not. But even if Colleen wasn’t amped up on whatever it was that people were dealing with? She also didn’t tolerate bullshit, which included punching cars into where it could hit a person.
There was a crazed look in Tifa’s eyes, their natural reddish hue only making the aggression and craziness even worse. She ripped the bumper off of the car and through a donut shop’s window, then punched the trunk so hard it popped off the car and careened into oncoming traffic.
“Rrraaaaaargh!”
Okay what the actual hell? Ugh. This wasn’t her Dreams and even still, she apparently couldn’t not get involved. Whatever, somehow she was going to put an end to this. Even if she really just wanted to do her errands.
At least it kept her from thinking about the end of her Dreams.
“Why don’t you fight an actual person, huh?” Yes she would instead make herself the target. Because of course she was.
TIfa stretched, then punched her fist into her palm with a sound a little too loud to be anything but super human. Maybe she’d have something witty to say under normal circumstances, but this wasn’t normal circumstances and all she saw was red. And like a bull she charged, leaping over the car and then sweeping out with her left leg.
Definitely not one of her better decisions, but that wasn’t going to stop Colleen. She would much prefer fighting a person than watching them destroy property with no care to who got caught in the crossfire. Because someone always got caught in the crossfire. So if she could be the focus? So be it, at least she could handle herself.
Jumping back from the leg sweep, Colleen felt a burning in her arm and as she landed, her now glowing white fist went to the ground and created a shock wave just as Tifa would have landed to knock her down.
“Holy shit.”
Yes she was momentarily distracted by the fact that she now had the Iron Fist despite knowing it had been a possibility. Yes she would deal with that later.
The shockwave hit Tifa and knocked her into another pole. It came crashing down onto the street and for about three seconds sense returned to Tifa. Then it passed, and she picked up the pole and swung it at the bitch who’d hit her.
So much for that, but luckily even with the momentary distraction, Colleen was still hyperaware of her surroundings and grabbed the pole with the Iron Fist, stopping it in its tracks before she was hit.
“I don’t want to hurt you, but I can’t let you keep doing this.”
Not that appealing to the other woman would do much good but she still had to try.
Tifa growled again, the sound turning into sort of a shout as she dropped the pole and launched herself at Colleen. It was like all the things that upset and made her angry were focused on this person in front of her and she was going to beat the shit out of her until she felt better.
Well, Colleen had tried. But clearly attempts at better natures and logic had failed and now the only thing left was to fight. It was something she knew, focusing her anger at everything in the ring. But it wouldn’t solve anything. Add in that this was clearly some weird Orange County thing.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
And with that, Colleen powered up her fist once more and as Tifa lunged at her, she made contact with the other woman’s abdomen. It was that or let Tifa attack her and whomever else she focused on, so this was it.
The only sound Tifa made was the sound of air being pushed out of her lungs, and she hung comically in the air for what felt like an eternity. Then she shot back, crashed into the car and bounced across the street, skidding to a stop against a store front. She lay still for a moment, then groaned and tried to pick herself up.
Shaking her head, Colleen just remained where she was for the moment, wary. She really hoped this was the end of this nonsense. But if she had to keep fighting, she would.
For now it was remained where she was and waiting.
Tifa’s mind felt much more clear, but then her energy gave out and she fell back down, unconscious.
