Amycus had offered to come with him to meet with the lawyer or send someone from his office to the meeting with him but Chase had said no. He trusted that he'd be able to handle this on his own. And if not - well then he could swing by their office when he left here. Or call one of his teammates to see if they wanted to hit the gym with him and just beat the shit out of things. He wanted to be optimistic about what his parents wanted but he knew them too well to actually let himself be.
He went into the office when the receptionist waved him through, reaching out to shake her hand. "You can call me Chase. Mr. Stein...that's somebody I'm not sure I ever want to be which you might understand better than most with how I ended up here." He said, a little awkward as he took his seat on the other side of the table. Maybe he wasn't quite ready to be as much of an adult as he needed to be for this.
"Is it bad that even though I knew that's what it was about I'm still hurt that I was right?" He asked quietly, looking away to stare out the window. "It's always about money with them." He said looking back at her. "Is this where I'm supposed to make a dumb comment about no one ever got hurt by reading a letter?" He asked, raising one brow at her as he sat forward.
"I'm probably going to regret it but I want to read it."
