WHO: Lucifer and Crowley
WHAT: Brownie batter
WHEN: Last night
WHERE: Crowley's
RATING: TBD, but fairly lowish

In the grand scheme of things, inviting Lucifer over for cake and brownie batter wouldn't put an end to the world. Crowley surmised that the Lucifer here couldn't be so terrible as to give his only begotten son because he so hateth the world that he wished to destroy mankind. Right? Yes. Right. And so the demon who had once been known as Crawley1 stood in the kitchen, wearing a pink apron over his otherwise black wardrobe, and cracked an egg into his mixing bowl.

He'd left the door unlocked because he and this world's Lucifer were on a level where tenuous trust was at least open and Lucifer was perfectly capable of entering on his own. Crowley's condo was less decorated than Lucifer's, but it was similar in cultural artifacts, and then there were the plants. The most green and luxurious in all of, well, most anywhere, save for the healthy and untouched parts of the rain forest.

Anyway, Crowley turned on his Kitchen Aid2, half expecting Lucy to startle him. Well. He was ready. Maybe.

1. A dreadful name, to be sure. More of a title really. And he will thank you not to bring it up in polite conversation.
2. Crowley would deny it utterly, but he did enjoy cooking. It was therapeutic, you see, and Crowley was surprisingly good at it.

This whole cake batter idea stood the potential to be rather fun. Damian had always maintained that food could be enjoyable for more than just eating. There had been a delightful young lady once who helped him go through an entire case of whipped cream. Ah, memories.

He arrived at Crowley's and took the invitation to let himself in. As he paced through he glanced around with approval of the decor. "All right, then darling. Where are you?" Upon hearing some manner of machine Damian followed the noise to the kitchen.

"Ah, there you are." Damian smiled as he wandered in. "Pink? Really?"

"Yes, really," Crowley confirmed, undeterred1.

Crowley hooked a bony finger toward Lucifer-er-Damian. "Come, come," he said. "Give us a kiss before I feel right rejected."

1. You see, pink was a powerful color and, in fact, was the color used for boys up until some times in the 1930's or 1940's when society began to somehow muddle it in with lack of masculinity. Silly if you asked Crowley.

"We can't have that," Damian said as he approached as beckoned. He took his time with the request. Hands resting on Crowley's shoulders he took a deep breath of his guest's scent, smiled then placed a kiss to Crowley's cheek.

He stepped back right after to search out something to drink. "You aren't actually cooking, are you?"

That was better. Despite outward appearances, if Crowley could choose to be around one other person who was not the angel of his dreams, it would be Lucifer, no matter how loathe he was to admit it.

There was drink alright. The finest of their kind, mostly in scotch and whiskey form, but there was wine; Crowley preferred white.

"No," Crowley confirmed as he shut off the stand mixer. "I'm baking." As Crowley poured dark cake mixture into a pan, he added, "Devil's food."

Scotch it was. A quick search yielded rock glasses one of which was filled quickly. Most people would pour a polite amount. Damian was not polite.

He peered at the pan as he wrinkled his nose. "I thought the whole point of this visit was to finger paint each other with cake batter, not ruin the whole bloody thing by cooking it."

"I thought the point was to eat it," Crowley countered.

He didn't know how they were supposed to eat it if it was all over their bodies, but he had a pretty good idea of what Lucy had in mind. "Good thing I've plenty set aside," he said after he put the cake in the oven to bake.

He went to the fridge and pulled out a roll of sugar cookie dough and the other half of the devil's food batter and pulled the cellophane off of both. "Ta-da," he announced, then fished out spoons for each of them.

Damian's face lit up. "Ah! That's more like it. Delightful." He immediately swept a finger through the batter only to stuff it into his mouth as he chuckled. His eyes locked onto Crowley for the other man's reactions. "Sinfully delicious. Worth the risk of salmonella."

He chuckled again as he leaned back against a convenient surface. "Now tell me, darling. What have you been up to?"

[*sorry about the massive delay]

Lucy was the very man Crowley had followed down...down...down, and was it so hard to see why? Perhaps the only one Crowley lllliiiked more was Aziraphale and Aziraphale wasn't here. The bastard. The utter angelic bastard. Crowley huffed as he thought about him, but was proper distracted enough by Lucy's little batter performance.

He rolled his eyes out of principle, but smirked all the same.

"Wouldn't you like to know," he purred, tipping his sunglasses down, giving Lucy a good look at the yellows of his eyes, the gesture entirely purposeful.

The unnatural color caught Damian off guard, but all that showed was a twitch of his brows. Contacts. Had to be contacts. Of course. The twerp was simply trying to get a rise out of him.

"Wouldn't have asked if I didn't, luv." He canted his head a little as he gave Crowley a challenging look.

Crowley pressed his sunglasses back up, his mouth still twisted into a smirk that he was sure that only Lucy might be able to read1.

Instead of answering, Crowley took a spoonful of batter, began to bring it to his own mouth, but flung it at his guest instead. "Oops," he declared, innocent as a man who hissed could be. "So clumsy."

1. Later, Crowley would come to realize that Lucy might not be able to read him as clearly as he'd thought. Much, much later, that was. For now, he was blissful to simply be around him.

That action surprised Damian. His first reaction was to mourn for his poor suit. It was immediately replaced by the mental reminder that this was specifically why he'd come. Very well. Let the games begin.

He eyed Crowley with a brow arched as he lifted the batter from the expensive fabric with one finger. "Honestly," he said just before he flicked the batter back at his host.

"Well now you're just being immature," Crowley declared as he dipped his finger into one of the bowls, coming up with a nice healthy glob of it that he promptly moved over to Lucy and swiped down his cheek. Eye for an eye and all that.

Damian watched his host approach. He was pretty certain he knew what was going to happen, but that was why he was here after all. Play. He locked eyes with Crowley as he swiped the batter from his cheek with a finger, but instead of flicking it back at Crowley he stuck his finger in his mouth.

He drew the moment out before his finger emerged from between his lips. "Delicious. I want some more."
