Leonard Snart had been out of prison for a few months now, and he was still in the process of getting his life back. He had no intention of keeping up this straight and narrow charade for too long. Once he was off parole he planned on getting right back into his old ways. Hell even now he was still picking pockets. But he also had to have a real job to please his PO. At first it had been as a janitor which he completely despised. But then he ran into Peter Quill, his old cell mate, and things changed. The guy had managed to start his own business and had brought Snart on.
Most of the time Snart went along on Peter’s jobs and helped out. But he took on a few small ones on his own. Like fixing a sink. Which brought him to the door of a house that apparently needed their sink fixed. Toolbox in one hand, Snart knocked on the door with the other.
Iris honestly had no idea what had gone wrong with the sink. It was probably a simple fix but it had worked when she had left in the morning and then when she had gotten home that evening? It wasn’t working and her dad had already called someone to fix it. But it also meant that she had to be home for when the person came as her dad was working on a case.
Which wasn’t a big deal. She’d just taken her lunch break at the time they were expecting the person to come by. So Iris had been going over some notes when she heard the knock at the door and went to answer it.
While she hadn’t interacted directly with Leonard Snart in the Dreams so far, she knew of him and part of her was caught off guard even if she didn’t show it. The other part was more along the lines of of course because people tended to run into others who shared the same Dreams.
But she just gave a smile and stepped aside.
“Hi, the kitchen is this way.”
There was a look of something in her eyes. Like perhaps she recognized him. Maybe from before he was locked up? He furrowed his brow trying to remember if he had ever met her before but nothing came up. And she hadn’t said anything, which if they did know each other she would have. At least that was what Snart would do.
He let if go following her inside to the kitchen. “The man mentioned it just started happening today?” He clarified setting down his toolbox.
Iris knew that Cisco had been worried when Snart had shown up, though given it had soon been after their rescue from Hydra, she couldn’t know for certain if it was that or Snart himself. And well, Dreams were one thing, real life was another, and so she wasn’t going to hold what little she knew about him against him unless he actually earned it.
As he said what he knew, Iris just shrugged.
“That sounds right. I left before my dad and it was working when I left. So I couldn’t say exactly what it is.”
Snart still felt as though she was looking at him a little suspiciously. But then he had been getting that feeling ever since he got out of prison. So he just brushed it off as that. Besides there was a job at hand.
“No problem,” Snart replied already getting down on the ground. He opened up the cupboard underneath the sink so he can have a better look at the pipes. “I’ll figure it out.”
“Thanks. I’ll be in the dining room if you need me.” Which he probably wouldn’t. But it was right next to the kitchen and she had notes to go over while he worked.
Snart just gave a nod and got to work. Of course the thought to find something of value to take with him crossed his mind. But he wouldn’t do that to Peter. The man had given him a job and saved him from cleaning toilets after all. Plus Snart was a loyal person in general - to a select few but loyal none the less.
He finished with the sink within thirty minutes, gathered his tools back up and went to find the woman in the dining room. She seemed lost in her work or whatever it was she was doing so Snart just cleared his throat to get her attention.
There was always something to do in her research, even when she was on lunch. So the time went by quickly enough for her until Iris heard the clearing of the throat and looked up.
“Everything okay?”
Since it wasn’t like she knew if he was finished, if he needed to get something, or what.
“Yeah,” Snart replied once he had her attention. “It’s working fine now,” he clarified since she had no way of knowing he was done. “Feel free to test it out.”
Nodding, Iris stood up and went to check just so she could let her dad know since she knew that he would ask once she called to tell him But it was just as Snart said, it was working just fine.
“Thank you so much. Let me go get your payment.”
He wasn’t surprised she wanted to check to make sure it was working right. Most people did before paying. Which Snart understood. He could be running a big scam after all. “Thanks,” Snart replied and stood a bit awkwardly in the kitchen as he waited for her to return with the money.
It was always important to make sure. And to ensure nothing else went weird which could definitely be a thing as well. But everything was in order and Iris quickly returned back to the kitchen with the payment.
“Here you go.”
“Thanks,” Snart said again accepting the payment. “If you have anymore problems you know who to call,” he added before turning to leave.
“Will do.” Once Snart was gone, Iris packed up her own things as she had to get back to work. Lunch was over after all.
