Klaus was in the mood for a proper meal. And tonight he didn’t feel like feeding alone. Usually that wouldn’t stop him. But he had a whole family of vampires who could feed with him. Tonight he decided to go with Finn. Klaus knew Finn had issues with feeding from humans and as far as Niklaus was concerned it was time he got over that.
Klaus invited Finn out to a bar, making it seem like they would only be drinking alcohol. After they were a few drinks in Klaus began to scan the bar for pretty women to feed on. Of course not letting Finn know of his intention. “What do you think about her?” he asked nodding at a brunette at the corner booth.
Since turning, Finn had only fed on one human and that hadn’t ended well so he had been put off by the thought of feeding on a human ever since. Sure, he drank human blood from blood bags that he managed to get from a nearby blood bank so it wasn’t as if he didn’t have the taste for human blood, but he worried about losing control and killing someone despite the fact that he had much more control than he did when he’d first turned.
When Klaus had called him, he’d been happy to hear from his brother and had agreed to meet him for drinks, not really suspecting that he had any other ideas besides that. However, when he asked his opinion on the brunette in the corner, Finn quirked a brow at his younger brother, “She’s pretty.” He took a sip of his drink as he looked her over.
“She’d make a tasty snack,” Klaus said with a smirk, voice low. Though there was a grin on his face he was very serious. “Why don’t you take her out back?” Klaus questioned with a raised brow waiting to see how his brother would react.
Finn sighed and shook his head, “Niklaus, you know that I don’t feed from humans.” Now that Klaus’ intentions were clear, Finn wasn’t the least bit surprised, “But if you want to, I won’t stop you.” At least he wouldn’t try to stop him if Klaus intended to leave her alive.
“It’s about time you started,” Klaus replied. “It’s a much better diet, trust me.” He didn’t know how anyone could live off blood bags. They were disgusting. Even when heated up. It just wasn’t the same. “You can stop before you kill her.” He had better control now than when he first turned after all. And just because Klaus liked to go all the way on occasion, didn’t mean Finn had to.
“It’s the same diet,” Finn might drink from blood bags, but it was still human blood, “Why are you so concerned with where my blood comes from anyway?” Was Klaus this concerned with where Kol and Elijah drank from? Finn would be honest, he didn’t know for sure whether either of his other brothers drank from blood bags or got it straight from the source like Klaus did. Blood wasn’t really something they talked about much.
“It’s not the same cold or reheated even.” Not that Klaus had tried it more than once. But once was enough for him. “We’re predators Finn,” Klaus reminded him. “We aren’t met to heat our food up at home. We’re meant to get it fresh.”
Finn had to admit that Klaus wasn’t lying about that fact. While he’d only drank from the source once, there had definitely been a difference in the taste than in the blood bags that he drank now, but he still didn’t know if he had the control to stop before killing someone. He was still haunted by that first time. “I worry that once I start, I won’t be able to control myself.” Finn didn’t want to become that sort of vampire.
Klaus was having some serious deja vu. He had a conversation similar to this with Elena not that long ago. And although it went against what he believed he decided to promise Finn the same thing he promised Elena. “I’ll stop you,” Klaus said voice low eyes locked on to Finn’s so his brother knew he meant it. “If you go too far.” He’d done it for Elena. Might as well do it for Finn too. Especially if it got him to feed like a proper vampire.
Finn watched his brother for a moment or two, weighing his options, “Fine. But you have to promise that you’ll stop me if I go too far and that you’re not just saying it get me to do this.” Finn knew that the human body could withstand losing some blood and that the girl would likely be fine within a day or so, but that was only if he didn’t kill her in the process.
“I promise,” Klaus replied with a satisfied grin. “It’s not as fun that way.” But Finn had his morals and if this was the only way Klaus could get him to feed then he’d do it - stop Finn if he went to far. “But I won’t let you seriously harm the girl.”
Finn still had some reservations about this whole thing, but he trusted that Klaus wasn’t lying to him. Picking up his drink, he finished it off before getting to his feet, “Alright.” He glanced over at the girl and started across the bar to the corner booth that she currently occupied. He wasn’t really sure how to go about this whole thing, but he figured he could simply compel her to come outside with him.
A satisfied smirk crossed Klaus’s face as his brother agreed and walked over to the woman. Klaus got up himself making his way out to the alley. As promised he would watch out for his brother and step in if needed.
After approaching the girl, Finn spoke to her for a moment, putting on the charm before using compulsion to get her to follow him outside. Once there he led her out into the alley where he knew Klaus would be waiting in case he went too far.
After leading her farth enough in where it was unlikely that anyone would see or hear them, he positioned her against the wall and simply looked at her for a moment, taking in the scent of her and the sound of her blood as it flowed through her veins instead of trying to block it out as he normally would in order to keep control of his bloodlust. “Whatever happens you’re not going to scream.” He said, staring straight into her eyes just before his fangs elongated and he leaned in to sink them into the girl’s neck.
Klaus remained in the shadows watching as Finn compelled and then sank his teeth into the woman. A small sense of pride washed over Klaus. Finn may be the older brother but Klaus was much more experienced when it came to feeding from the source. He kept his eyes them though fully intending to keeping his promise. Which was exactly why when he thought Finn was getting close to going to far he stepped in. “Okay that’s enough.” Klaus was just using his words for now but if it was necessary he’d pull his older brother off the woman. “Time to stop.”
Finn didn’t remember much about the first time he’d drank from a person as he’d been running off bloodlust and was so horrified at what he’d done that he’d pretty much blocked out the entire situation. This time, however, he was fully aware of what he was doing and he had to agree with Klaus; blood was better from the source.
And speaking of Klaus, had his brother not been there, Finn didn’t know if he would have stopped, but lucky for him and the girl, upon hearing his brother’s voice, Finn used every ounce of willpower to pull away, blood running down the corners of his mouth as he did.
Klaus gave his brother a smile, well more of a smirk. “What’d I tell you brother?” he asked, still grinning. “It’s better from the source.” And he had kept his word and stopped Finn. Just like he promised. There were many things one could say about Niklaus Mikaelson, but breaking his word was not one of them.
