Anna was kind of glad to be taking a breather, she’d been modeling for years now. She had money saved, and then there was the job with Tony. Money wasn’t a problem. She could easily spend time at a gun range with Mitch. She was even given adorable pink eye glasses to protect her face while they waited and she watched. “Whatcha gonna get?” She asked sticking her hands in a pair of cute overalls she’d chosen for the day. It was nice not having to wear things the industry picked out for her. She had some jean overalls and a stripey red and white shirt on. Very much enjoying not being told what to wear by brands. She didn’t have fancy shoes on this time either, just grungy sneakers she loved. * Mitch had been glad that Anna had agreed to come along on this new little adventure. Sure, he could have asked Lydia to do this with him, but he didn’t really think she’d be that into it. And that’s why he is currently standing next to Anna, staring at the wall of guns. There were so many and yet he knew what most of them were. That bit was a tad bit scary since he had no idea about this stuff until he was hit was his latest set of dreams. He glanced down at her when she asked the question. “I don’t know yet. Is it bad that I kind of want to try most of them?” He looked back at the wall and then back at Anna again. “What are you going to try?” * “I mean that’s why we’re here isn’t it?” She peered at the wall, unsure what to pick either and chewed at a finger until a large man behind the counter decided to come toward them when he saw their indecisive faces. “Try em all, two hour limit. Start little go big.” He winked at Anna, who cringed at his euphemism. Ugh. size jokes. Well, if there was anywhere to make them it was there at the range. Anna pointed out a small handheld looking gun and grinned. “Let me show you both the basics. Safety first, then fun.” Another laugh at his bad pun. Anna just rolled her eyes but accepted it. The last place she wanted to make enemies was at a gun range. It didn’t take long before they were both taught the basics and could go off together to said targets. “I should have punched that guy” Anna frowned. “But I guess you can’t punch everyone for stupid jokes.” She grinned and gave him a wink as she lined up to the target like they had been shown. * “True. I guess I didn’t want to look crazy or something.” He honestly didn’t know. “Yeah, alright.” He glanced at Anna and caught the look on her face. He hoped this wasn’t going to turn into anything. He knew Anna had already punched one creep (the guy deserved). He didn’t want to see creep number two go down. At least not until they got some fun in. After that, he didn’t care. As they were taught the basics and safety and all of that good stuff, Mitch had to stop himself from saying he knew what the fuck he was doing. Especially when this guy kept throwing in his fucking bad puns. He couldn’t get away fast enough. “I think I wanted to punch him as well.” He wasn’t sure if it was because the guy was fucking annoying or if this rage from his dreams was starting to seep through. “You could but you would end up getting into trouble,” he pointed out with a smile. “Or you can pretend he’s the paper target and shoot him for his lame ass jokes,” he said as he watched Anna line up her target. * Clearly Anna was restraining herself, the guy kept making disgusting comments through his entire little safety lesson, and Anna kept clenching her fist. The internal struggle was real. That hand came up to grip Mitch’s sleeve for a second as if to shake it off a little. She knew she had a few anger issues ontop of that will to punch sometimes, so she reeled it in. Redheads, it was a thing. She had a firey temper to go along with her firey hair. “I didn’t think punching a guy surrounded in guns would have gone over well for me.” She admitted with a strained sort of smile and did exactly what she’d been told. Unlike Mitch she had no experience. She missed the paper entirely and the bullet hit the solid wall in the back and clattered to the floor. “Well, that was a terrible shot.” * There were a lot of uh huhs and okays being said, but mostly Mitch was paying attention to Anna. He didn’t want her to do anything stupid. They were here to have a little fun and to see if his dream stuff crossed over. It would suck if they somehow ended up in jail today. Nope. Not happening. If he Anna’s hand rising, he would grab it quickly and hold it. Anything to keep them out of trouble today. “None of them were loaded. He wouldn’t have been able to shoot you,” he said with a slight shrug. “You think so?” he said with a laugh. That was a pretty terrible shot. “Try it again except this time…” he didn’t even finish his sentence. He went into Anna’s personal bubble and started to tweak the way she was holding the gun and her stance. “There, now try,” he said as he backed off. * There were times Anna really felt like she didn’t have any sort of exceptional skills at all. She saw people posting all over that network, bragging about that cool dream thing they’d done and Anna?...Well she had a talented sister? The redhead frowned as she heard the bullet drop. It echoed as if it was taunting her lack of skill. But then again, Mitch was suddenly so close to her that just maybe having no real skill wasn’t so bad. She let him do what he wanted, hell she’d let him do more than adjust her stance if not for that girlfriend of his-but there was that little issue. All the same, Mitch was so close she almost forgot all about it until he backed away to let her take another shot. “You’ve already done this before?” Anna asked before glancing over at the target in front of her and steadying her hand on the weapon before firing off a shot. It wasn’t a bullseye but at least this time she hit the paper. “I hit it!” It made a distinct noise, a much better noise than the wall behind the target. * “In my head I have.” In real life, no, he hadn’t done any of this, but those dreams certainly made it feel like he had. Which was how he was able to tweak Anna’s stance before backing off. Her shot might not have been a bullseye, he didn’t think it would be, but at least she didn’t hit the wall this time. Which was an improvement. “Yeah, you did,” he said with a smile. “Going to hit it some more or do I get a turn?” * Most of the time she didn’t mind being mediocre at things, but lately it’d been getting to her a bit. This was a good distraction. She didn’t always share those thoughts because they were depressing-but they’d been creeping up on her with the dreams lately. “One more.” She hit the page one more time and hit the paper a second time. “Your turn!” She wanted to see him take shots, after all it had been his idea. * Anna could take as many shots as she wanted. Mitch was in no hurry. Plus he liked seeing get all happy and giddy when she did hit the target even if it wasn’t a perfect shot. “Paper man is going down,” he joked as he switched places with Anna and picked up the gun. He took the proper stance and aimed the gun at the paper target and took a shot. It hit the paper, but not where he wanted it. At least he didn’t shoot the ground like Anna had the first time. He glanced over his shoulder at her before he took a few more shots. The bullets had torn through paper man’s stomach and throat. And the more comfortable Mitch got with the gun and shooting it the deader paper man got. Multiple shots were through the head and chest. Paper man wasn’t going home alive tonight. He set the gun down and then turned to look at Anna. “I think it’s safe to say the stuff from my dream crossed over…” * Her shots were entirely the opposite of perfect. But she had murdered that little sheet of paper and was pretty pleased with herself. The gun was pretty satisfying. More so than she initially thought it would be. She watched him take the first shot and gave a cringy little ooh look as he missed what target he wanted, but that cringe turned into awe as he began to shoot like a pro. ‘ Now I want that instructor guy to come back here so you can show him all this and he can eat his shoe.” She laughed at his comment “I’d say!” And gave him a nudge only once he was done shooting. “Gonna call you Bond, James Bond now.” * Mitch couldn’t help but laugh especially when she’s talking about making that guy eat his shoe. He was already getting a pretty funny mental image from it. “Let’s not.” As funny as it sounded, he really didn’t want to start shit with some stranger. “Well, you better bring me my martini then. Shaken, not stirred.” He nudged her back, grinning. “Do you still want to shoot some more?” * She grinned at that “ I wanna use the entire hour!” As if she was just going to drag Mitch off for some lunch thing when they had a ton of fancy ass guns to try out. “Make him regret giving us so much time.” She really hated that guy. “But I wanna bigger gun!” Anna on the other hand hadn’t had training, but she gave the small gun a dull exasperated look. “It’s so tiny I could break it. Where’s the bazooka.” She didn’t even know that was a thing. “I’ll get the car ready Mr. Bond.” She winked. * “Well, okay,” he said with a smile. “We’re using up the whole hour.” He couldn’t help but to start laughing. “You really don’t like that guy, do you?” He really didn’t need her to answer the question. It was pretty obvious by now that Anna really hated that guy. “Uh, I don’t think they let anyone shoot off bazookas here.” He glanced down at the gun they had been using and then he looked back at Anna. “Could shoot a rifle next if you want something else.” He laughed. “Don’t get a scratch on it,” he joked. * Whatever he was into, she enjoyed. That was part of what being a friend was. And clearly he wanted to have fun with this, so she wasn’t going to be a downer on the parade just because she wanted to punch the instructor guy’s front teeth out. She gave him a sweet innocent smile in return. “I have no idea what you are talking about, I don’t hate anyone.” She teased as she peered at the rifle. “Fine, but it’s no bazooka.” She laughed as she reached for it with grabby hands and snickered. “Ooh. Demanding.” * Mitch was glad that he and Anna were friends because he seriously couldn’t imagine Lydia wanting to do this or having as much as they were doing this. He tilted his head a little and raised an eyebrow at her when she gave him the innocent look. He wasn’t buying it. “Sure you don’t.” He laughed again. “I don’t think I would want to be around you if you got your hands on a bazooka.” He looked at the rifle and then back at Anna. “Be careful with that.” * “Oh come on, me with a bazooka would be hot shit.” She grinned as she watched him. “Don’t even pretend you don’t wanna see that.” He seemed so hesitant to hand over the rifle, and she made yet another innocent face. “I’m not even thinking about turning it on that womanizer if that’s what you’re worried about. Come onnn.” She made more grabby hands * “Yeah, I don’t know,” he said, shaking his head. “My mind is picturing you accidentally setting it off and something going boom.” He handed the rifle over to Anna. “That’s good to know. I doubt you’d get very far with all of these other people here.” And it wasn’t like he would let Anna do something that stupid. “Just shoot paper man and pretend it’s the jerk.” * It wasn’t like she actually would shoot a living person. That wasn’t her style, but she would dream about blowing idiots away. She didn’t have the guts to do that. Not exactly a hardened criminal. “That’s half the fun!” She laughed as she took the rifle, as if it were something to be handled gently. She lined it up and fired away at the paper man. Wincing as the kick back was more than she expected and the end of the gun struck her shoulder. “Owww.” That one hurt. Maybe that rifle was a little too big. * Once Anna had the rifle, he took a step back. “Oh!” He was just about to warn her about the kickback, but she had already fired and experienced said kick back all on her own. “I was going to warn you about that!” He wondered if that was going to stop her from shooting it again or was she going to give it up already and hand it over to him. * “Not fun, bad touch.” She scowled at the thing as if it were evil. “Maybe I’ll stick to this little one..” She was going to have a bruise there, it was a good thing she was on a sort of hiatus from modeling or she’d be fucked. Summer meant swimsuit modeling, and t wasn’t her favorite anyway. She was into more glam and high fashion stuff. She handed it over with a sulk and touched that sore spot gingerly. * He probably shouldn’t be laughing, but he was. It was funny. Although, he figured Anna didn’t find it so fun since she was the one that has the hurt shoulder now. “Yeah, stick with the 9mm,” he said in agreement as he took the rifle from her. “My turn.” Once Anna was out of the way, he got into position and shot the rifle like he had been doing it for years. If paper man had been a real person, he’d be extra dead right about now. * She gave him an exasperated over emphasized roll of her eyes as he laughed and she punched the same shoulder of his. Lightly, but a punch all the same. “Laugh it up now.” She made a face as she stepped out of the way to let him shoot and gave him a sweet smile as if she’d done nothing. She stood back with arms folded and let him take his turn. * “Oh, I’m going to laugh it up every chance I get,” he teased. Once he was done, he set the weapon down and turned to look at Anna once again. “What?” he asked. “Why are you looking at me like that for?” * She gave him a roll of her eyes that could have won world records and watched him shoot the paper man to bits. “Mm, no reason Mitchy!” She winked and picked up her tiny gun before spinning it around her finger with a hint of actual skill. She wasn’t skilled at guns, but making things look cool was part of a model’s job. She gave him a teasing grin as she headed off toward the counter to turn the weapon in. The gross man behind the counter was still there, but of course he was. He probably owned it. “So, did you hit anything at all? Bet your man did.” Anna put down the gun not so carefully in front of him and just tried to keep a straight face. “It’s fine sweetheart.” Ugh, she hated being called that. But for the sake of not getting them both thrown in jail, she bit her lip and signed in her weapon. “I’ll be outside.’ * “Uh-huh,” he said giving her a look that said I don’t believe you. “Don’t do that,” he told her as she started to twirl the gun around her finger. When Anna started to walk, he followed, after making sure the rifle was safe. “Your best friend is still there,” he muttered before they reached the counter. “One day you’re gonna get shot by a woman,” he said as he set the rifle down and then followed Anna out of the store. He didn’t care to see the idiot's reaction to what he said. He didn’t really care. The guy was an idiot. He put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her in as he walked. “Don’t like that jackass get to you. You did pretty well for your first time.” * She couldn’t help but to smile at that. “I just hate creeps like that. I seem to attract them..” At the range, in the modeling industry, air con guys. Everywhere! It was like a ridiculous guy circus sometimes around her and the ones she did end up liking had girlfriends. Go figure. Even if girls thought she was a threat, she actually wasn’t the type to actively try to steal someone’s man. “I wanna try surfing next, and guess what you’re coming!” Anna always wanted to try different things, she didn’t have one she really thought she stood out with. Mitch obviously excelled at the gun range, but Anna only hi the paper target on the far edges of it. Not exactly a superstar but it’d been fun anyway when the creep wasn’t involved. “You were good at that. Move over Bond.” She smiled as she walked along with him, a bag slung over her other shoulder instead. * “You probably have a creep magnet. We should try to figure out a way to turn it off,” he jokingly said. “Surfing?” he looked at Anna. “Well, okay. I guess I’m going to be trying surfing too. So, when do you want to try that?” he asked. He never really thought about trying to surf. But he dragged Anna to the gun range so it was only fair he try something that she wanted to do. “Haha, thanks, but I’m not Bond.” He kept his arm around her until they reached his car. * “Yeah, seriously. It’s cramping my style.” She made a face as she folded her arms like a grumpy child who didn’t get their way. “You are! Yep!” That grumpy face instantly was charmed by his acceptance and willingness. He seemed to enjoy trying new stuff too, it was hard to find someone who would just do random things with her. Having another person was always more fun. “Could have fooled me” She winked and didn’t fight the arm, it was nice. She felt safe with him. * “We’ll have to Google how to turn off creep magnet. I’m sure we’ll find something there!” he continued joking. “I guess we’re surfing the next time we’re feeling adventurous.” He had a feeling that would be soon since they seemed to be hanging out more and more lately. Which he didn’t mind since Lydia seemed to be too busy lately. And Anna was great to be around. “No? Maybe next time I’ll fool you.” He unlocked the car door and opened it. “Get in, woman,” he said, smiling at her as he said it. * Anna rolled her eyes with a laugh and gave him a playful shove as she got in the car. “As if. Get in the car loser, we’re going shopping.” It was a risky quote, most guys didn’t know Mean Girls-but if he did he was for sure a keeper. She was happy to be with him. Doing whatever he did was fun for her as long as he was having fun with it. She fed off that energy and could get into anything. She gave him a wink as she turned into the car and strapped in. * “I’ll ask for my pink shirt back later,” he told her with a smile before he shut the door. He made his way around to the driver's side, got in and started up the car. |
