Who: Simon Lewis & Isabelle Lightwood When: Backdated: Saturday, June 15th. Evening Where: Izzy's Graduation Party What: Simon tells Izzy he's human again Rating/Warnings: Family Friendly Status: Complete
It had been a couple of months since Simon had last seen Isabelle, but as soon as he saw her, when they arrived for her graduation, it felt like the last time had been only yesterday. However, with the graduation ceremony and dinner and Isabelle spending time with her family, Simon hadn’t really gotten a chance to talk to her one on one and he had felt like they should talk before she moved back to the OC, but he had wanted to do it in person instead of over the phone or facetime or anything like that.
Sometime after dinner, Simon finally spotted Izzy on her own and headed over, “Hey, so dinner was great.” While he’d been a vampire, Simon hadn’t been able to eat most of the time. Most foods would make him sick since his system had been reprogrammed for blood. However, he had managed to train his stomach to accept certain things like coffee and other little things during the time he was a vampire. So whether or not Isabelle had thought anything of the fact that he had been eating like normal during dinner, he didn’t know.
Izzy had caught it, but she didn’t have a chance to even talk to him yet. Between cooking, serving, and talking with her family, everyone was there, even her dad. She knew Simon had been working with his stomach, “thanks,” she beamed at him, then she leaned in, “are you alright?” she asked, not wanting to cause a scene, but it he was not comfortable, she would express how he should handle it and then come back.
“I don’t have any blood bag,” she frowned, she should have had one for him, but honestly it didn’t cross her mind she hadn’t been around him in months to even think about it. “Maybe talk to Magnus about going to get one and then you two can come back?” she asked hopefully.
“I’m fine, Izzy. I don’t need a blood bag. That’s actually what I wanted to talk to you about.” Simon was glad that Izzy had noticed that he’d been eating so this wasn’t quite as awkward as he’d been thinking it’d be, “So, it turns out that I’m actually human again.” Another tell tale sign that he was human again would have been if he was wearing his glasses, but he’d gotten used to not needing them while he was a vampire so as much as he hated sticking his finger in his eyes, he’d gotten contacts when he’d turned back.
Shock was the first thing to hit her “....how?” she breathed out, but honestly this was a good thing, right? Shaking her head, “don’t answer that,” she told him, “but that’s great news” Instantly she hugged him, “I’m so happy for you!” One would think she would be freaking out, but between her family, she’s been told some things and she knew Magnus was a warlock, “You just proved,” she said as she released him from her bear hug, “anything is possible.”
Simon hadn’t expected a reaction quite like that, but he wouldn’t pass up a chance to hug Izzy. He had missed being close to her and while he didn’t know what to expect with her moving back, there was a part of him that hoped perhaps they could start over or pick up where they left off or something along those lines. “Yeah, I guess anything is possible.” He said, smiling at her as she released him, “It was definitely a surprise, but I’ll be honest, I missed being human.”
Truth be told, she missed him too, she wasn’t sure what all he’s been through since she’s been gone. “Seems like it,” she told him as they pulled apart, smiling at him, nodding her head, “has it been a huge adjustment since you’ve been back human?” and then she slugged him in the arm, “why didn’t you tell me the other day?” she demanded, “How long have you been turned back?”
“Hey, that hurts now, you know.” Simon rubbed his arm, smirking a little. That was one thing he’d miss about being a vampire. While he hadn’t been invincible or anything close to it, it took a little more to physically hurt him than when he was human, “Um, a little before your birthday. I didn’t think this was something to mention over the phone. I thought it was better to do in person.”
She nodded her head, “Good point,” her hand moved over to rub where she hit him, “thank you for waiting.” Izzy moved her hand, but she smiled brightly at him. “Good news all around today, I’m moving back, you are back to human, and so here we are..”
When Izzy reached out to rub his arm, Simon’s pulse spiked slightly, which was a feeling he was still getting used to feeling again, but it told him that there was absolutely no doubt that he still had feelings for her. “I mean, if I’d done it over the phone you wouldn’t have been able to hit me, but it wouldn’t have felt right.”
Izzy chuckled at that, “I only hit you because I know you can take it,” she informed him with a smile, “or was that your way of telling me you can’t,” she waggle her eyebrows at him, teasing him. They might not know where they are right now, but Simon will always be, her friend, a best friend, even if things don’t move pass that again. Though she was hoping it would! She moved beside him, locked her arms with his “Wanna get some cake?”
“I might not have vampire reflexes and all that anymore, but I can handle a hit to the arm.” Now that he didn’t possess heightened abilities or strength any longer Simon was planning on asking Alec and Jace to start some sparring so that he’d at least still be able to protect himself when the crazy stuff happened in Orange County, “I could definitely go for cake.” Simon had missed being this close to Isabelle and was glad that she had made the first move to touch him because it discreetly told him whether or not there were any boundaries between them.
“Good, cause it’s got truffle filled chocolate balls on top and I’ve had to stop myself from eatting one all day,” she chuckled as she directed them to the kitchn so they could get the cake and bring it in. “thanks for coming, Simon!”
“Oh my god, that sounds amazing. I’m so glad I’m going to get to eat it,” A grin spread across Simon’s lips as they headed towards the kitchen. “I wouldn’t have dreamt of missing this.” He glanced at Izzy, his smile getting a little wider as he did, happy that he would get to see her again on a daily basis.
