It had been a tough morning of shooting when lunch was called, and Natasha was happy to get off set and walk around a bit. She still had on her trademark catsuit, though this was a new design for the new season. More leather and less latex, which she was happy about.
The zipper was still designed to really never go very far above her belly button and she still wondered at what movie magic kept things in place. But sex sold and no matter how good the writing was the suits still wanted that extra bit of appeal.
Plus, she just enjoyed wearing the suit around. It made her feel normal.
“New suit?” Ginny asked as she fell into step beside Natasha. They had never met formally but she was well aware of her show and who she was. It was what Ginny could only describe as cool, at least in comparison to her show that was centered on the typical high school drama most teens like to watch.
Unlike the girl next to her, her clothing was quite typical but trendy; a cute pair of boots and a sundress to go along with her fiery locks which had been curled slightly. Her hair was her greatest accessory. Personally, Ginny liked a little more spice but what did she know she was just an actress not a stylist.
"Yes. This one is a lot more comfortable, and looks like something that might actually stand up to a fight." She flashed the other redhead a grin. She seemed familiar, and she realized she recognized her from the Valarnet, "You're in that drama, aren't you?"
Tasha's hair was pulled back into a stylish but functional pony-tail. There was an ongoing argument with her hairdresser about trimming it. The man threatened that he had a heart attack at the very thought.
A smile played at the corners of her lips, “Have you ever tested that theory?” If you got to wear a catsuit you should at least get to do some fight stunts. Something she knew she would never get to do on her own show which was kind of a disappointment really. Ginny was the type that would rather enjoy doing such a thing.
“Yep, that would be me!” It was how most people remembered her or her hair, the bright red locks didn’t hurt. “I am that annoyingly cute Brit that doesn’t know how to shut up and they felt bad for her so they gave her own show. That sounds about right.” Again a joke but she figured it was probably true somewhere along the line at least a little bit.
“Least they are letting me ride horses on the show this year.” Still not as exciting but it was something to talk about.
"Later today, I hope. I went through a lot of the older designs." She flexed her arm and patted it playfully, "I do all of my own stunts. At least when I'm not recovering from falling down a mountain or getting lost in the wilderness. It's been a very injurious summer."
And if injurious wasn't a word, it was now!
Tasha grinned, affecting her native born accent a little more thickly, "Da, that is good to hear. Horses are wonderful animals to work with, and it can be pretty exciting. Especially when they have the cute Brit on the horse."
“You fell down a mountain?” It kind of slipped out before Ginny could censor herself. It was just something that you didn’t hear every day. It sounded like an interesting story at least. She had spent far too much time this summer watching survivor shows while she was overseas.
She hoped that one day they would let her do something on her show that required learning to do some kind of stunts. That would certainly spice things up a bit.
“Long as they don’t send me flying, we’ll be okay.” Ginny joked lightly. She had always loved horses so she was excited to work with them. “They figured they should add something since the show is getting more popular. Oi, but the obnoxious fan boys could be toned down a bit.”
"I was very stupid, climbing alone earlier this summer. My leg has healed up pretty well and I was lucky that was all that was hurt."
Natasha folded her hands behind her back in an almost military ready stance, "It will only get worse the more popular you get. But there are plus sides. My favorite are the little girls that look up to me."
Inwardly Ginny couldn’t help but sigh a little bit at the information that it would get worse and she felt a little guilty about it. It wasn’t that she didn’t like the fame or the fans it was just that she wasn’t used to it being a constant thing. She couldn’t go shopping or get coffee or just run to the grocery store any more. It had been required that she have a bodyguard to go to a photoshoot, before she knew it someone would be watching her all the time.
“The little girls are a perk,” she had to agree with that and she wanted to be a role model and not some Lindsay Lohan type of girl. Not that her mum would ever allow that and she liked to think she had more self-restraint than that.
“How do you deal with it ALL the time though?”
Khamul would certainly not mind the extra pay.
Natasha nodded her head. She was well aware of the 'disney effect', whereupon a wholesome teenage starlet turns into a raging whore when she gets into her 20s, and she hoped Ginny wasn't destined for that fate. Some managed to escape it. Most did not. Lindsay Lohan was a prime example.
"I try to set aside some me time. I also try to set aside time with friends. The other thing I do is ignore the tabloids and let my agent deal with most of that. It's better to have piece of mind, because they will do whatever they want and if you sweat over it you'll turn grey before you're thirty."
She looked at her a bit incredulously. Tabloids was something she hadn’t had to deal with yet but she figured she would do something at some point that would warrant being written about. Personally she never got why people bothered with their lives. They had their own to worry about instead of what she was doing or who she was dating.
“Oi, my hair is too pretty for that. I guess it’s good then I have a good manager.” Ginny said with a fake sagely nod. “Ever have something really bad written about you though?” It was kind of a personal question but she was curious and she didn’t really have anyone else she could talk to about it that really understood.
"Your hair is gorgeous. That would be a crime." Natasha folded her arms over her stomach, not really that offended about the question, "All the time. Though a lot of it I'm not offended by. Whether or not I'm gay isn't an insult. Annoying, but not an insult. I think the worst were all the 'man-eater' and heartbreaker stories."
“I guess all you can do is laugh at them and know that those that matter will know better,” that was how she looked at it any how. I mean her friends hopefully knew her better than that. Ginny had a feeling her brothers would tease her endless more than they would be concerned. Mum was a different story.
“I think I need a trail of heartbroken men I supposedly dated or I wouldn’t be legit,” Ginny joked not really able to take much of anything seriously. “I suppose some of it could hurt though if they really wanted to.”
"Precisely," Natasha replied. "Besides, press is good, it keeps your name out there, which makes you more valuable."
She put a hand on Ginny's shoulder, and squeezed, "A lot of it will hurt. Especially when they manage to get close to the truth. But if you keep your head high, then you'll get through it. And you wouldn't be alone if your friends are of any worth."
She gave her a bit of a warm smile happy for the support and the pep talk of sorts. “Then I will try not to read it all,” she thought it was a line of crap that some celebrities said they didn’t read anything written about them. How could you avoid it? Or at least hearing about it. She would rather read it in private, get over the hurt, and be ready to answer questions about it.
“Ever wonder why we do what we do sometimes?”
It was impossible to avoid, but there were plenty of legitimate stories to read about. Natasha had to stop and think about that, "I don't know. It's fun. There are good causes we can afford to support. There's a bit of narcissism I have to admit."
That was a nice perk especially when you grew up with very little. Her career had already provided her with the chance to help support her family and provide many things that she wanted but could never have otherwise. Ginny did enjoy the work though at the end of the day. How many other people got to say they could be someone else?
“All true.” Ginny ran her fingers through her hair before switching gears a bit. “So anything exciting happening on your show this year? I mean like really big.” She was certain there were the usual twists in the show.
"I mean, really, we get paid to play make-believe," Natasha added, unknowingly echoing Ginny's thoughts. A sly smirk crossed her lips, "Oh, we have some twists, including a major shake-up around the mid-season finale. Cliffhangers, the usual. I'm not going to give you any more hints than that....except."
She held up a finger, her voice a little wry, "There'll be a return of an old love interest. Which probably won't shut up the shippers who think Widow and Sansa's character ought to work out their frustrations on each other."
“Oh!” Ginny perked up immediately. Even after working on a show all day she loved going home and watching a few of them. It was entertaining and she did love a show with a strong female lead. It was something little girls needed to see more of with so many strong male characters out there.
“Well, it’s good to keep them all guessing and gossiping!” She hadn’t been wrong when she said it was a good thing to keep your name out there and keep people interesting.
“I have some pretty bizarre twists near mid-season too. The girls on the show are going to try and pull a prank that might not end up going as planned,” it was about all she could say. Privacy contracts and all to help prevent leaks. “Sounds like we’ll be busy ladies.”
"Oh da, they will be guessing all season, that's the best part. I was surprised too, but it will be exciting. And frankly I need the excitement to keep my own interest up."
Natasha laughed. Pranks never went well in a drama, and usually had tragic consequences, "It's better than not being busy at all."
Ginny nodded, it was important to keep the actors interested or a show could go downhill really fast. “That’s good then! I know we have a few boring filler episodes but I know they are needed. It’s just kind of boring to shoot those sometimes.” That and it made her feel a little like a cheat to the viewers because they were no offense boring episodes.
“So, what’s the best place around here for lunch?” She had to admit she was usually too lazy to make anything herself so she always bought something.
One of Natasha's remedies to remaining interested was to toss around plot ideas. Some of them influenced by her dreams, or the dreams of others. She wanted more action, and smarter plots. Some of the upcoming stunts were very dangerous but she refused a stunt woman.
"They can be boring," Natasha agreed. "We try to make every episode relevant, even if it's just character development. We might not always succeed."
She then replied to the lunch question, "That depends on what you're in the mood for!"
It was something Ginny needed to ponder a moment. Usually at home it was something simple but when she was at work she could eat whatever she wanted. “Something different. I know that doesn’t tell you a lot but I don’t know what I want until it’s in front of me usually.” Least when it came to food she was pretty sure about other things like her career.
“I take my time eating lunch because after means schoolwork while the others do their shoots.” It was the downside of being a minor still. She still had to do her school while others kept working.
"I know this Thai place nearby," Natasha said, tapping her lip thoughtfully. It probably would make the tabloids go nuts, but she didn't really care. Half the fun was baiting them, really, "It's a bit of a walk, which will be good for both of us, and it's out of the way, which will mean some privacy."
“Perfect, lets go.” Ginny was game for it and she really didn’t care who saw what or said what. She had never been one to worry much over it and she wasn’t going to start now. She rather enjoyed having her sanity and worrying would make her lose it.
Natasha found this refreshing. The media would spin it however they liked, and Ginny seemed to be quite good at ignoring the hoopla already. It spelled good news for her future - there wasn't likely to be any catastrophic and dramatic flame-out like so many seemed to have.
She led Ginny down the street, hands clasped behind her, "You've got the right attitude already."
“Great, lets go.” Ginny said as she fell into step besides Natasha. It would be nice to get a break from the usual and she really didn’t mind the company.
