"I need to call in a friend, and I don't want you here when he shows up."
Who: Shepard and Jack
What: Robbery and foiling a drug ring, apparently.
Where: Some warehouse
When: Late at night
Status: Complete!
Rating: PG-13 for language!
Shepard had pulled over to the side of the road, to light up a cigarette. She was watching a warehouse across the street. She felt the urge to make trouble. Or stop trouble. And what she was watching going in and out of that warehouse certainly spelled trouble. The rational part of her thought she should call the police, or even Vakarian. She shut that part of her up and put the cigarette out.
Jack thought it was a decent day to 'liberate' a few things for her own personal use. Some decent stuff. Poecketable, or bagable. And the security feeds were down. She'd made sure of that.
Shepard checked the safety on her gun, stuffed it into her waistband, and made her way stealthily across the street. The cameras appeared down; which was beneficial for her as well as the people inside. She'd counted at least three. She wasn't sure if it was drugs or burglarly, but she was going to have a bit of fun.
Jack tucked a few more things into her messenger bag and glanced around. She'd moved things around a bit, but on first glance, it wouldn't be obvious that anything was missing. Good. Time to go then.
Slipping into the building, Shepard crouched, listening as she creeped along.
Jack paused, thinking she might have heard something.
Shepard froze, craning her ears to listen!
Not hearing anything else, Jack continued making her escape!
Jack?! Shepard grabbed the woman from behind, slapping a hand over her mouth and pulling her down, hissing, "What are you doing here?!"
Jack tensed and imediately began struggling to get loose. Until she heard the voice. Shepard? "The fuck are you doing here?" Jack hissed in return.
"I saw something suspicious, so I thought I'd investigate," She replied, in a whisper. "There're men with guns, coming in and out."
"...well shit." That Jack did not know. "Fuck."
"Shh!" Tyra slapped her hand over Jack's mouth again, wishing she were telepathic, as she doubted Jack knew military hand signs.
The sound of men's voices approached, and there came the soft click of Tyra taking the safety off.
Jack decided it was best, for the moment, to be as still as possible.
Shepard held up two fingers. Then she shot her foot out, tripping the first man and slamming her palm into his solar plexus, before kicking out at the second. He didn't go down as quickly, and scrambled for his gun.
Jack kicked him in the face. Because it seemed like the thing to do.
"Good girl." Shepard launched herself onto him, kicking the gun away and butting her head into his, giving his nose a satisfying crunch. A gunshot and a bullet richocheted several inches from her face, sending the former marine diving for cover.
Jack dove for cover as well, snagging the fallen man's gun as she did so,
Vakarian was going to kill her, if this led to a coverup. Shepard tried to see where the gunman was in the dark. She needed more light to see, but she could try to hear his footsteps.
Jack flattened herself on the ground and aimed at what looked like the outline of a man's foot, then fired. Should bring him down, at least.
The gunshot made Tyra's ear ring, but the man's scream and the heavy thud of him hitting the ground gave away his location. It was a simple matter of knocking him out and kicking his gun away. She quickly returned to Jack, "We need to get you out of here."
"Not fucking arguing about that," Jack said. She did not want to hang around here any longer.
"I need to call in a friend, and I don't want you here when he shows up." She felt..compelled..to keep this girl out of trouble. She couldn't explain it, only that itmustbedone! "I can handle this, but I can't explain what you're doing here. And I don't want to know."
"Works for me, Shepard!"
"And you owe me a drink." Shepard winked, pulling out her phone to dial Garrus.
"Hell, you got me out of there, I'll buy you two drinks." Jack grinned, then handed Shepard tha man's gun. "Figure you might want this."
"Yeah." She took the gun, thankful the girl was wearing gloves. She didn't want to tell Garrus she'd been 'sloppy' if she'd had to smudge fingerprints.
"Get going sweetheart."
Jack tossed Shepard a mock-salute and ran off.
That protective streak was rising its head with Jack, and it had little to nothing to do with how hot the woman was. Tyra shook her head and lifted her phone to her ear, "Vakarian? I had a little adventure."
