Who: Jeremy Gilbert & Blossom
When: Backdated: Middle of May
Where: A Park
What: Dragon loves attention
Rating/Warnings: Family Friendly
Status: Complete

Over the last few months Jeremy had had to get Dragon used to walking on a leash again since when they had lived on the beach he had been able to run off leash next to Jeremy, but now since they were either walking around the neighborhood or one of the nearby parks Jeremy had had to keep him on a leash. Dragon hadn’t been too happy at first and would usually try to pull ahead of Jeremy, but over the last few months he’d gotten used to it and now stayed close.

Like Dragon though, Jeremy also missed running on the beach every morning, but the parks were just as nice and there was a lake nearby so it was almost like running on the beach and that was okay with him.

Jeremy and Dragon had been running for a little over half an hour when Jeremy slowed down and eventually came to a stop, Dragon stopping next to him and began sniffing around nearby bushes as Jeremy took a drink from his water bottle.

Blossom wasn’t an active person, not really. She preferred hanging out in bookstores, at coffee shops, at the library. Places where she could just sit and read, get on with things. But no, she had to make some changes and with college approaching it also meant that she needed to take care of her body just as much as her mind.

It took her to parks, because she hadn’t found a gym she liked enough to sign up to, and the idea of having to pay a membership when her college schedule might make it hard to go to the gym regularly made her a little uncomfortable. She wasn’t going to waste money after all. She’d gotten some good shoes, a pair of super tight leggings for working out in, and some proper tops that would make it comfortable at least.

The problem, the main problem, with walking around the parks was that people took their dogs out for a walk and Blossom couldn’t pass a dog without cooing at them. Even the big ones that likely didn’t want some girl cooing at them. Blossom was unable to not do it.

“Aw, look at the dog,” which obviously the person with the leash would do.

Jeremy was used to people wanting to pet Dragon; mostly girls and kids, but either way, he was well used to it and so was Dragon who loved the attention. Whenever the boxer thought someone was giving him attention, he’d veer off from what he was doing and make a beeline for that person, which was what happened now as the redhead nearby spoke.

“Dragon, quit it.” Jeremy’s arm was pulled in the opposite direction from where they had been heading and were he not used to it, he might have been pulled over, but he kept his footing as he changed direction so Dragon could the attention he so obviously lacked, “I hope you were talking about him, cause even if you weren’t he’s addicted to attention.” Jeremy smirked as Dragon barked, his tail flicking back and forth excitedly.

“Of course I was talking about you, wasn’t I?” Blossom managed to avoid the baby talk, although it was hard to do so, even as she leaned forward to crouch and give some scritches behind the ears, “I bet everyone is telling you how gorgeous you are, aren’t they?” The butt wiggle with the tail wagging away was just the cutest too.

“What’s his name?” She was squinting up at the dogs owner, grinning brightly, happy to at least get to stop and talk to a dog, since sometimes owners seemed a little less happy to let strangers pet and fuss at their animals.

Strange people.

“Dragon.” Jeremy didn’t mind when people stopped to pet Dragon cause as excited as he got when people showed him attention, he was also incredibly well behaved and knew that he wasn’t about to hurt anyone and besides, if he didn’t want anyone petting his dog then taking him out to a public place with other people wasn’t the best idea. “He’s never gonna want to leave you now, just an fyi.” Dragon barked and turned his head this way and that as the red headed girl scratched his head, his tail wagging back and forth excitedly.

Blossom just beamed brightly at the information, “Well why would I want that, huh? You’re just the handsomest dog ever, aren’t you?” Dragon seemed very happy with Blossom’s assertion, even more so with all the petting and scritching going on too. “I always wanted a dog growing up, but one of my sisters was allergic and my dad said the house wasn’t right.”

That was probably because of all the science stuff around and dad’s busy job, but still it hadn’t stopped Blossom from wanting one desperate. “I’m Blossom, by the way. Dragon is just so lovely.”

“I’m Jeremy.” He knew all about having wanted a dog growing up, but having parents who said no for one reason or another, “I got him with my ex, but now he’s mine.” It had made more sense for Dragon to remain with Jeremy when Myrcella left for England so that she wouldn’t have had to deal with the added hassle of having Dragon sent safely overseas, “If you keep giving him compliments he’s never going to want to leave you.”

“Shared custody following any kind of split can be traumatic for any animal, so it’s good you’ve given him that stability.” She really needed to stop watching so many documentaries about animals, just because they were on didn’t mean she needed to watch them. “Not that I’m the authority on dogs.”

Standing up, Blossom made a point of keeping her fingertips close enough to scritch a little at Dragon’s head. “I don’t think having him for a best friend would be any kind of hardship at all.”

Jeremy nodded, smirking as he continued to watch Dragon’s reactions to Blossom, “Yeah, we went back and forth on what we were going to do, but ultimately since I was only moving back here to Huntington Beach, it seemed best if I just kept him.” Jeremy had become extremely attached to Dragon over the last couple of years so he was glad that they had come to this decision, because if he had lost both Myrcella and Dragon, it might have taken him longer to get over the breakup than it had. “Oh yeah, he’s a pretty great best friend.” Jeremy leaned over and scratched at Dragon’s neck.

“You hear that, you’re a great best friend.” Blossom grinned at Dragon, like she was proud of him for being a good dog to his owner. “Are you guys walking? Mind a tag along? I’m terrible at staying fit and healthy, but my dad insisted that I can’t just stay in my apartment while I’m not in college yet.”

She wasn’t due to start until the fall, which meant she had all summer to get ready and she needed to get a routine going. “I thought a dog park might be a good place to walk and distract myself, y’know?”

“Yeah, sure. I don’t mind,” Jeremy glanced down at Dragon then back at Blossom, “And I don’t think that Dragon will mind either.” He gave her a small smirk, “So what school are going to go to?” Jeremy was just finishing his last year of college, finally and while he still didn’t quite know what he wanted to do yet, he was glad to be almost done.

Walking buddies would certainly make things better. And Blossom would always enjoy company over her own thoughts, especially if she wasn't actively doing something academic, it would just get her thinking about going back home to study and not help her get the air and exercise she needed.

"I'm at California State, I have to split between the Irvine campus and the Long Beach one," mostly because she was most certainly taking the History class she wanted and it was only taught in Irvine. She didn't mind making the trek to the other campus though. "I just need to figure out what I want to do. How about you? Are you in college or working?"

“I’m just finishing up at UC Irvine,” Jeremy said as they began walking down the path again, Dragon sniffing at whatever he could reach, “I also just got a new job at a friend’s gallery.” Sure, Klaus wasn’t exactly a friend, but Klaus wasn’t exactly an enemy in the waking world the way he was in the dreams.

“An art gallery?” Blossom didn’t know a lot about art, it wasn’t really something she’d been able to get into, but she understood the affinity people had for it. “Is your friend an artist? I wish I could’ve had the focus to get into art, it must take so much dedication, right?”

Jeremy nodded, “Yeah, he paints from time to time.” He didn’t know just how well known Klaus’ own art was so he didn’t want to make it sound like he was someone that she should know about.

Art galleries sounded interesting, especially if Jeremy knew an artist himself. “I think this place is going to be really fun to figure out.” Because there was just so much to do, starting with dog walking with new friends of course.
