Jeremy had been hoping that he could put off having this particular conversation with Katherine or at least he’d hoped that she would have started dreaming before Elena became a vampire. Of course, ultimately Jeremy had hoped that neither of his sisters would become vampires, but he knew that hoping for that, in Orange County, was futile.
Now that Elena was a vampire, not only did he have to explain the dreams and the things that could happen as a result of them, but he had to worry about Katherine’s safety with a new vampire in the house. Luckily he still had some vervain from the time he and Tyler had gone looking for it and he knew how to make vervain tea. He’d thought about offering his sister his vervain bracelet since Myrcella had given it back to him, but he thought it better if Katherine actually had the vervain in her system for now.
At the moment it was just Jeremy and Katherine home; Elena was with Caroline, learning to control her new vampire abilities. At least, Jeremy hoped that she was with Caroline and not Damon because that hadn’t gone over well in the dreams when Elena had become a vampire and he doubted it would be any better in the waking world.
Katherine was watching tv, more like flipping through the channels, bored out of her mind, she picked up her phone and started to scroll through it, but she heard Jeremy making something, she popped her head up to look over to the kitchen, than she shifted to kneel on the couch, “What are you doing?” she asked with an arched brow as she watched her baby brother for a moment.
She did express how she thought they are all gone mental, but Katherine was a bit flaky she hadn’t given it a second thought.
“Making something.” Jeremy knew how vague that sounded, but he couldn’t just tell Katherine that he was making vervain tea. She wouldn’t understand what that meant yet, “Could you actually come here?” Now was the best time to get her attention since she was only watching tv, “I think we need to talk about what’s going on with Elena.” As well as what else was likely to happen once Katherine started dreaming. Of course it was possible that she already had and he just didn’t know it yet. Either way, Katherine needed to know what to expect now.
“Oh,” she answered back to his vague answer and than turned around, flopping back on the couch. However when he had asked to join him and mentioned talking about Elena, Katherine rolled her eyes, “Sure.” she said as she flipped off the tv and hopped up, “this about her dreams?” she asked him, cause everyone been talking about those damn dreams.
“More or less.” Jeremy said as he finished brewing the tea and poured it into a mug as Katherine came into the kitchen. He set the mug aside and watched his sister, trying to figure out the best way to start this conversation, “How much do you know about the dreams? Have you had any yet?” He knew this probably wasn’t going to be an easy conversation and he was full prepared for Katherine to not believe anything he was about to say right away.
“I only know what I’m told, though Damon seems to be teasing a bit about how I will dream of him,” she rolled her eyes and than looked at her brother, “why? Are the dreams really that bad?” Katherine looked at him, arms across her waist. “Are we all vampires like Elena?” she asked.
Jeremy couldn’t help but make a face at the mention of Damon’s name. While there was nothing he could do about it, he really didn’t like Elena or Katherine even talking to Damon. As far as Jeremy was concerned, he was even worse than in the dreams because unlike in the dreams he’d done absolutely nothing, in Jeremy’s opinion, to make amends for what he’d done to Elena.
“They can be.” For once he wished that he had a scar from the bleed over of when he’d been shot in the dreams, because that would help to convince Katherine that this stuff was real, but it had magically healed just like in the dreams, “Not all of use. I’m actually a Medium and a Hunter.”
She arched a brow, he was a hunter….hm “Okay,” she said with a nod of her head, yeah she didn’t know if she could believe it. “What did you hunt?” she asked, “lion, tigers, and bears?” she chuckled at that. “It’s just dreams, right? Is Elena really a vampire?” she wrinkled her nose, but then again this place was so weird, especially lately with everything going on.
Leaning forward, she pushed some hair out of her face, “How are you a medium?” she asked.
“You’re gonna laugh. And I completely understand if you do,” This was one of those times that Jeremy wished that Stefan were still around because he knew that Stefan would be able to help him explain all of this a lot better, “I’m a vampire hunter. But I can control it.” He was glad that he’d learned to control his vampire killing urges when he was still with Myrcella, because in the dreams it had been his feelings for Bonnie, which had helped him to gain control of the urges, but in the waking world it had been his feelings for Myrcella that had done it and now it had been long enough that he had the whole thing completely under control.
He nodded in response to Katherine’s second question, “She is. I know it sounds crazy, but stuff like that happens here. And I became a medium when I got shot and died and was brought back with magic.” He watched his sister as he spoke, knowing that he could lose her attention at any moment, “In the dreams, of course, but I did almost die here as a result of that dream.”
Katherine made some kind of noise of annoyance, “why am I not having these dreams?” she asked, “if I’m in Damons, yours,” she shook her head, “I should have them too? Is it because I left?” was she being punished for running? Of course she would think that, but she shook her head, all of this was insane.
“You almost died?” she blinked at him and let out a loud sigh, “I need a drink,” she informed him as she hopped down and started to the fridge, “so you can control the killing of vampires, which is good since our sister is now one…” she turned to look at him, “you know how fucked up this sounds, right?” she asked softly. “You’re a hunter, E’s a vampires, everyone is dreaming, but me it seems.”
Jeremy shrugged at her question, “Sometimes it takes a while. Some people have dreams all the time and others, months go by without having any. Mine started a couple of years ago and appear to have been over for awhile.” He hadn’t had any since he’d come back after the tragedy at Ric’s wedding and since had been hunting with Tyler. “Caroline and Tyler also dream about the world we dream about. The Mikaelsons too.” If for any reason Katherine still didn’t believe him after this she could always ask any of them. “And yeah, I almost died. I got shot, accidently, by Sheriff Forbes and died. The wound bled over here and I almost bled out in the middle of the night.” It seemed like such a long time ago now that that had happened.
“Speaking of having a drink. I was actually making something in here that I think you should start drinking every day.” He gestured towards the tea pot, “It’s vervain tea. Vampires, in our dreams, can compel people to do things and the vervain will prevent that from happening.”
Too many people she knew and The Mikaelson too, “they are back here?” she make a face, moving back to him. It was rare for her, but she hugged her brother, the thought of almost losing him, bothered her. She could be mouthy bitch, but she did care for her siblings. She pulled back, looking at the teapot, “vervain” she questioned as she let go of him and moved to look at the pot.
“Does it taste bad” she asked “cause I don’t see me drinking this daily if it’s horrible,” she warned Jeremy
“Yeah. The Mikaelsons are here. Well, most of them.” The only one Jeremy had really talked to really was Kol and it was still a little strange, in his opinion, considering he and Elena had killed Kol in the dreams. The hug surprised him, but he hugged his sister back immediately, smiling.
Once they released each other, Jeremy picked up the mug of tea that he’d already poured and held it out to her, “I think it’s an acquired taste. I’ve never had to drink it. I had a bracelet that had vervain in it and now that I’m a Hunter, I can’t be compelled.”
Arching a brow, she took the mug and sniffed it, “I met Klaus on my travels,” she said with a shrug and than took a sip. She didn’t make a horrible face, but it winced slightly. “So a cup a day will keep the vamps away? She teased lightly.
Taking a few more sips, “Is E going to be okay?” she asked him softly, sure she gave her twin a hard time, but she did care for her, she was her twin. “Is the vampire thing going to ruin her being a doctor? She’s been working so hard for it.”
Of course she’d met Klaus. That really didn’t surprise Jeremy, considering he knew Katherine’s story from the dreams. “Pretty much. At least, it’ll keep anyone from compelling you and if they bite you, it’ll repel them.” All that he really cared about was that while Katherine was still human that she was safe. “I think she’ll be fine. As long as she learns control and all that, she should be fine.” He really didn’t see any reason why Elena wouldn’t still be able to be a doctor since that was what she had been working towards in the dreams as well.
Katherine nodded her head, choosing to believe he brother, even if it seemed farfetch. “Okay, I’ll drink it daily.” She took a long sip, “maybe in the mornings,” she muttered as she offered a small smile and than walked by him, heading back to the living room so she can continue her channel surfing to find something decent to watch.
