Liv really needed to stop using The Double Tap to look for a date for Leon. Her boyfriend’s bar usually consisted of the same people every night. But she couldn’t help herself. She was going to go to The Double Tap anyway, might as well multitask and see if anyone might be a good match for Leon. She was sipping her jalapeño margarita when someone new walked into the bar. At least new to her. She knew most of the regulars. Of course there were some people that stopped in every now and then that Liv missed so this woman could just be one of those people. Still she seemed like she might be Leon’s type. Liv made her way over to her, drink still in hand.
“Haven’t seen you around before,” she commented taking another sip of her drink. “I’m Liv.”

Ozma hadn’t ever been to The Double Tap before but she had met the owner when they’d been teamed up to rescue Elsa and she’d decided to go check it out when the urge to grab a drink had hit her. It wasn’t her normal spot but that was part of the appeal. She’d left Billie in the car when she’d parked, not sure how well a living billy club would come across at a bar but not wanting to leave her protection at home all at the same time.
She allowed herself to give the beautiful blonde that approached her a quick once over, noticing her figure and having to actually stop herself from trying to guess her measurements. She probably had a boyfriend or girlfriend already and Ozma wasn’t that type of woman. No matter how hot the man or woman might be, if they weren’t available she moved on. “Ozma. This is the first time I’ve been in. Any house specialties I should know about Liv?” Okay yeah she was flirting a little bit but in her defence Liv was hot and maybe fate was on her side. If not - hot guys at the bar that she’d noticed when she came in.

“Nice to meet you, Ozma,” Liv replied climbing onto the stool next to her. “You’re in for a real treat,” she added taking another sip of her drink. “Dan makes the best jalapeno margaritas around.” She held up her drink for emphasis. But then Dan had a lot of practice making them and perfecting them thanks to Liv. She should probably stop telling people about them, the jalapenos Dan kept behind the bar were mostly for her, but oh well. Liv couldn’t help herself. “The beer is pretty good too.”
***
“Dan Smith right?” Ozma asked, turning to face her as she waited for the bartender to come get her order. “Jalapeno margaritas you say? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that. I’m going to give it a shot.” She gave the bartender a flirty smile when they finally came to take her order. “Jalapeno martini and a beer. Anything that’s not light.” She said, turning to Liv and arching a brow. “And can I buy you another? It’s always more fun drinking at a new bar with a new friend.”
***
“Yeah,” Liv replied. “You know Dan?” It wasn’t as though she assumed she knew everyone Dan did. But she thought she knew at least the majority. No big deal though. “Oh,” Liv said taking another sip of her drink. “I actually already drink here for free. But I will certainly join you.” With that said she went ahead and ordered herself another, finishing off the drink she already had.

“We met through some mutual acquaintances recently.” Ozma said, not sure exactly how much of their adventure she could, or even should, share. She knew there was a criminal investigation of Weiss’ father going on but she was keeping her distance from it until she had to get involved. The details of how they’d gotten in and out of that building...well she figured that the fact it was the Sawhorse that had assaulted those guards wouldn’t keep her entirely out of trouble since he was her property - animate object or not he was still considered property by most of the world. “Somebody mentioned he owned this place so I’d thought come by and get a drink. Or two drinks since I’m trying the margarita.” She gave Liv a smile, red curl falling over one shoulder.
“I need to work harder at making those connections around here. My hating to drink alone is going to get expensive before too much longer.”
***
“It’s worth it. Promise.” Liv was choosing not to respond to her first comment. She had a feeling she didn’t know this mutual acquaintance of theirs and she wasn’t even sure she wanted to know. Dan was keeping it from her for a reason. Probably a reason she wouldn’t approve of.
“If Dan likes you enough it could happen.” The free drinks that was. Though Liv doubted it. Even when Leon got free drinks it only lasted a few months. Speaking of Leon. Or rather thinking of Leon. “You seeing anyone?” she asked rather bluntly.
***
“Guess I should try to make myself pretty likeable around here then.” Ozma said, picking up the beer as it was set in front of her and winking at the bartender before drinking. She turned her attention back to Liv, wondering if she’d misread the situation about the blonde probably being involved with someone. “Not exclusively. Are you?”
***
Liv’s wheels were already turning. It took her a minute to realize Ozma had asked her the same question she had asked. “Oh, yeah,” Liv replied clearly a bit distracted still. “Dan’s my boyfriend,” she added matter-of-factly. “So what’s your type?” Liv asked with a sip of her drink. The not exclusively part was a bit worrisome. But at least it would get Leon back into the dating pool.
***
Ozma couldn’t help but smile a little at the obvious distraction on the other woman’s face and sipping at her beer. Well that was a point in the Double Tap’s favor - the beer was good. Something told her the wines wouldn’t be what she drank at home but that was just fine. She should probably go to the gym more often anyway and more beer might just be the incentive she wanted for that. “My type in men or women? I go for different things either way. The constant is generally someone who can keep me interested in talking with them. At least to start.” And that cared about family. That was a big plus for her even with hers on the other side of the world.
***
“Both,” Liv replied. Because how was she supposed to find the right person if she didn’t know what Ozma was interested in. “What makes you interested in talking with someone?” Liv went on. Because really it could be different things for different people. Liv had no idea the types of things Ozma liked to discuss.
***
Ozma thought back over the people she’d talked to regularly to see if there was a common trait and a little smile spread over her face. “Well first off I’m mostly drawn to blondes. But...someone who doesn’t automatically rule me out as an idiot because I’m a model or because of how I look. Someone who I can argue with because they don’t want a doormat. Do they have an interesting job or a hobby? Are they going to be scared off because I have a living sawhorse in my house and a living billy club bouncing around my backseat in the parking lot? Why do you ask? Is this for some type of survey?”
***
Liv’s ears perked up as Ozma spoke. Leon was blonde. And he tended to like models. Though from the one he brought around before he met Alex, he preferred dumb models and Ozma didn’t seemed far from that. But it was time Leon looked for something more serious. “I may know a guy,” Liv replied with a smirk. “He’s a cop,” she added since Ozma had mentioned something about an interesting job. “Homicide detective.” That seemed like a pretty interesting job to Liv. But then Liv also helped solve crimes. Still it was more interesting than some boring desk job. “Tell me more about this sawhorse and billy club.” If Leon could put up with her being a zombie, she was sure he could put up with a living sawhorse.
***
Ozma arched an eyebrow as she reached for the margarita and took a small sip, a soft sound escaping her. It was tasty. Not something she’d normally get herself but it wasn’t bad. She’d probably stick to beers when she came here. “Do I get a name for this homicide detective you may know?” She asked, wondering if there was a chance that Liv was talking about Leon because that was the only homicide detective she knew. Although there was a slim chance that they both knew the same guy with the number of people that lived in the area.
“The sawhorse is something that just showed up in my place one morning. I keep referring to it as a he even though I don’t think there’s an actual gender to them? He can walk and talk, normally at moments I wish he wouldn’t and to make a sarcastic comment, but he’s also probably my best friend which is not something I ever thought I’d say. Billie...I got more recently. I found myself in a place where I needed some protection and there was a billy club laying on the ground and I used a powder that I was given to bring it to life. Billie kind of just hops around and attacks people when I’m in danger.” She wasn’t going to give details about the billy club had been on the ground because it’s previous owner had been knocked out after being attacked by the people she’d been there with.
***
Liv didn’t really know what to say about the sawhorse or the billy club. She knew there were a lot of strange things that happened, hell she was a zombie after all. But she hadn’t heard of inanimate objects being brought to life, having personalities even. And she definitely hadn’t met anyone so open about all the things that she assumed came from dreams. “His name is Leon Orcot,” Liv replied with another sip of her margarita. “I’m not sure how he will feel about the sawhorse,” a pause. “Or Billie,” since that was apparently the billy club’s name.
***
Ozma had just taken another sip of her margarita when Liv gave the man’s name and she almost choked on it as a laugh threatened to spill out of her. She cleared her throat and took a sip of her beer, realizing that it probably wasn’t the best choice even as she did it. She signalled the bartender over and added a bottled water to her order, sipping it to clear her throat before saying anything else. “He didn’t seem to be a fan of Sawhorse when they met. Or maybe it was that he didn’t really like Chris riding on his back.”
***
The fact that Leon didn’t like the sawhorse didn’t surprise Liv at all. Especially hearing that Chris was involved. He was pretty protective of his little brother, as he should be. What did surprise her was that Ozma knew him. “How do you know Leon?” Liv asked finishing off her margarita. She didn’t even have to bother to order another. The bartender knew to bring her one. Again, perks of dating the owner.
***
“I met him through Alex actually. He and I worked for the same Agency for a little while.” Ozma said with a half smile as she drank her beer. “Leon hasn’t met Billie yet. I just got them recently. Although he seemed a little surprised by Lampey hopping around so I don’t think he’ll be a fan.” She said with a shrug. “You and Leon must be pretty close if you’re trying to set him up with someone.”
***
Ah, Alex. The asshole that broke Leon’s heart. The whole reason she was trying to set him up was to help him get over Alex. “You’re going to have to record it for me when he does meet Billie.” Just the thought of it made her laugh. “We work together,” Liv explained. “And apparently my boyfriend is his best friend.”
***
“You’ll have to give me your number so I can share it with you. If I’d known how he’d react to Sawhorse and Lampey I’d have had my phone ready. For someone who dreams about maneating rabbits he seemed pretty surprised. Honestly I’d be more startled by the rabbits. And that’s coming from an Australian. A good portion of our wildlife tries to kill us regularly.” Koalas and kangaroos were on that list. Firmly on it. “No offense Liv but you don’t look much like any cop I’ve ever seen.”
***
“Sure,” Liv said pulling out her phone. “Here put yours in and I’ll send you a text.” Easiest way to exchange numbers these days. “Well now you know for next time.” Although man she really wished she could have seen Leon’s reaction to Lampey. “No offense taken. I’m not a cop. I’m a medical examiner.”
***
Ozma reached out for the phone, inputting her name and number quickly before handing it back. “I have had to write that number down far too many times lately I think.” She said reaching for her margarita again. She gave the blonde an appraising glance. “Sounds interesting. Especially around here. I’m betting you have some pretty odd things coming through with your job.” Demon invasions and everything else.
***
“Sometimes,” Liv replied with a knowing smirk. Most of the odd cases Ozma was thinking of went to the Agency, but then Liv did consult for them so she still saw those. Not to mention there was some every day odd shit that came through the morgue. “Keeps things from getting boring,” she added taking another sip of her drink.
***
“I don’t know. In the wake of the demons and everything else I think we could use a little boring now and then.” Ozma teased, catching a man at the other end of the bar looking at them and she gave him a little wave before turning her back on him, as clear a polite dismissal as she could come up with right then.
“So….Clearly setting me up with Leon would end in disaster and tears. We need to find someone though. What about...her over there? She’s hot in a way.” Ozma said, gaze landing on another blonde in the corner.
***
“Oh definitely.” And more than likely the tears would be Leon’s. “Hm,” Liv said as she looked over at the woman. “She does seem his type.” At least looks wise. “I’ll go talk to her.”
