"Xi'an's not seeing anyone right now."
Who: Kitty, Xi'an and Xi'an's ten year old twin siblings
What: Kitty and the twins interview each other for prospective moving in! With verbal vomit. And sibling plotting/meddling.
When: Recently! After Kitty and Jubilee spoke for sure.
Where: Kitty's apartment
Status: Complete!
Rating: PG-13!
Kitty had cleaned her apartment, and picked up something for the twins to drink. Not that she was sure what the twins would drink, so she had a variety. She thought Xi'an would appreciate it if she avoided sugar saturation. She'd spent an hour trying to find something to wear. Why did that matter? She picked her BSG shirt and tight jeans.
Xi'an led Leong and Nga to Kitty's apartment and knocked on the door. "You can hang out with Kitty while I pick up a few things for dinner. Be nice." Leong and Nga grinned.
"We'll behave," Leong said.
Kitty answered the door, smiling at Xi'an, "Hey!" It was a rather beaming smile. She turned her eyes to the twins and raises her eyebrows, "So the two terrors arrive."
Somehow she knew she was in trouble.
Nga smiled and held out her hand. "Pleased to meet you. I'm Nga."
Leong held out his hand as well, grinning cheekily. "I;m Leong. Hi."
Kitty shook each of their hands, then ushered them in and gave Xi'an a shy grin, before closing the door behind her. Phew. No awkward blurts in front of Xi'an, that's good. Now its just her and the twins but how hard could it be with two ten years olds? Pff, "Want anything to drink? This is the living room. Lame. I know."
Leong's eyes drifted to the TV. And Kitty's console collection. "Wow."
"Water's fine, thanks," Nga replied, managing to be more articulate than her brother in the face of gaming heaven.
Well that would probably keep the kids busy. She brought them some water and sat on the couch, "I don't get to play those as much as I'd like. Too much work and too much time in Warcraft."
Leong gave Nga a she is so cool look and Nga nodded sagely. They definitely had to try with this one.
Try? There is no try! Kitty grinned, the look on Leong's face so obvious. She was scoring points! This was good! "Want to see what your room would be?"
"Yeah!" It was probably bigger than the one they had now, judging from the livingroom.
Kitty hopped to her feet and led them in! "It doesn't come with the computer, sorry. Or the record player." Now complete with her precious, precious vinyl!
"...we get floor space," they said. They didn't have much floor space to speak of in their current room. This was nice. As was the odd looking chest of drawers. Or whatever that thing was.
"Oh my god you talk in unison that's both creepy and adorable!" She clapped her hand over her mouth.
Leong blinked at Kitty, and Nga tilted her head. Did this lady have no brain-mouth filter. Hmm. That could be...useful.
"I'm so sorry. There's this thing going around and a lot of people can't self-edit." Oh. Oh fuck. She looked stricken.
Nga tried not to grin. It was very hard not to grin.
Leong went straight to business. "How do you feel about girls? Like, lesbian girls. Do you like girls?" The phrasing could probably be better, but the prospect of a completely honest answer was too good to pass up.
Kitty stared at her, mouth hanging open. Something compelled her to answer, and it was a little painful to do so, "I think..okay I do. I'm pretty sure." She rubbed at her arm and looked around. Then groaned, "ThereasonmyroommatetookoffisbecauseIkis
The twins squinted at her for a moment as they parsed her word jumble sentence, then they made nearly identical O.O faces.
Kitty covered her face with both hands, silently willing them not to bring up their sister. Her face, it was burning.
"So..." Nga began. "Xi'an's not seeing anyone right now."
"Yeah, the single-person-with-two-kids thing kind of sucks for her dating life," Leong added. "She needs to date more. She's kinda old."
Nga smacked his arm lightly. "She's not old."
"She looks as young as me. How old is she exactly?" Kitty smacked her hand against her forehead, "I'd say I'm not interested but I am. You guys are terrifying though."
The twins high-fived. Great success! "Oh, and she's twenty-seven," said Leong.
"Thats not old at all, I'm twenty-three!"
She wanted to ask how Xi'an lost her leg but had enough good grace left to wait to ask Xi'an, "Look, I'm terrible in relationships, and I'm just figuring out this girl thing recently."
"...cats are nice."
"...yes, cats are nice." Translation: we are processing the part where you are a failboat at dating and new to girls.
Somehow she figured they were less excited about the prospect than she was, "Well ,if no one is allergic and its okay with Xi'an. I've been wanting a pet."
"I think she'd be fine with it." Lesbians and cats were kind of a thing, right? Nga shrugged at Leong. Well, this chick's name was Kitty, so who knew.
That hadn't occurred to Kitty just yet. She'd probably have a nervous breakdown. Or at least a brief one. She nodded her head and grinned, "Good!"
She decided to keep things on the twins, instead of her, mwhaha, "What kind of things are you interested in?"
"What games do you have?" asked Leong.
"On the console? RPGS mostly," Kitty replied, smiling. "Shooters are for PCs." This was fact. There was no disputing this, "I have some platformers. And Mortal Kombat."
Leong grinned. "Mortal Kombat is fun."
Kitty squinted up her eyes, "And you're too young for it."
Leong just grinned. Nga rolled her eyes, "He's played before. We just haven't enlightened Xi'an."
"And what do I get Not enlighten your sister?" Kitty folded her arms. The only way to survive these two was to play along.
Oh. Leong and Nga exchanged 'we got stealth-busted' glances. "We won't tell her you totally have a crush on her?" Nga suggested hopefully.
"I'm worried she'll worry that's why I'm into her being my room mate." Kitty led them back out to the living room, "This is probably gross to you but she's really hot."
That made sense, actually. "I think she's just happy to find someone with enough room," Leong said.
"She's been worrying about the rent," Nga agreed, nodding. "She tries not to let it show, but we can tell it bothers her."
"I understand. You'd think with my fancy degree and cushy job I don't have to worry about that stuff." She glanced at her entertainment center, guiltily, "And I might have gone a little crazy on occasion and tried to justify it."
Damn her mouth, damn it!
She exhaled, "So it'll help, defintely."
And having Xi'an nearby...she got a soft smile on her face.
Leong and Nga just turned to each other and smiled.
Roman tubs were awesome, Kitty decided. Before she remembered they were there, "Uhm. Why don't you two play some SSX." She eydarted, face beet red.
"Awesome!" In unison. Because snowboarding!
Kitty looked up and mouthed 'thank you god' before going to put the game in the PS3, "As long as you a) treat the system with respect and b) don't troll people on chat or voice chat, you're welcome to play when you're done with homework or whatever." That way she and Xi'an could get them out of their hair sometimes. Then she realized she said that out loud.
"Okay."
"Swear on it."
"We promise."
She tossed them the controllers, "Okay, have fun." She'd have to hide Mortal Kombat - at least when Xi'an was around. She walked into the kitchen, and poured herself some water while watching them through the partition. This wasn't so hard. They were mostly good kids, which reflected well on their sister. And she still had a burning need to know more about her.
The twins? Very absorbed in the game.
Kitty grinned to herself, then sat down at the table to smack her forehead against it until Xi'an got back. Yeah, that was productive.
