"Are you...are you asking me...about you? If I'm interested in you?"
Who: Natasha and Rahne
What: A lunch date and asking for first aid training
When: Wednesday
Where: A cafe
status: complete
Rating: PG-13 for fumbling asking on a date.
Natasha had sent Rahne a message, asking her to meet for lunch. It had been awhile since she'd last spoken to the woman, and she had an odd request.
Rahne headed to the place she'd agreed to meet Natasha for lunch. She wondered what the other woman wanted to talk about.
Waving at Rahne, Tasha even got up and pulled the seat out for her. She might be developing a thing for other red heads, "Glad to see you. Order whatever you want, I'm paying." She sat back down.
Rahne grinned and took a seat. "That's very nice of you, thanks."
"It's only partly pleasure," Natasha said, ordering a drink. She looked over at Rahne, and winked a little flirtily,"Well, it's a pleasure."
Chuckling, Rahne took a look at the menu and placed her order. "I'm glad you're feelin' generous, whatever the cause."
She laughed, settling back in her chair, "Well, I wanted to ask if you'd give me some first aid training."
"Oh? I can do that, aye."
"That's great! I confess with the dreams I've had I think I probably need it. And after being lost in the wood I realize what I remember from the dreams isn't enough. I'd rather be brought up to date."
Rahne nodded. "Aye, I'll definitely be glad to help, and to point out some good reference sources."
"Thank you." That out of the way, Natasha relaxed. "So how have you been lately? You and your...friend?" There was a suggestion in her voice that she was thinking of anything but friends.
"I've been fine," she replied. "Dani's...she's okay. She hit a wee bit of bumps in the road with her boyfriend, but I think they'll be okay." She ignored the implication of the other woman's tone.
Boyfriend? Huh, she had been almost certain that...well no matter. Natasha nodded her head, "I'm glad to hear. What about you? Anyone special in your life?"
Rahne shook her head. "No. I'm not seeing anyone."
"That's a shame." She wasn't sure what it was she was having with Leliana. An affair? It wasn't an emotional thing, "Is there anyone interested?"
Rahne blinked. "Not that I know of."
Their food arrived, and Natasha took a sip of her drink as the plate was set down. She waited for the waiter to leave before replying, "Would you be interested?" That hadn't been what she'd meant to say, at all. She'd meant to say something about the food.
Now that was not what Rahne had expected to hear. "Are you...are you asking me...about you? If I'm interested in you?"
"Apparently, da," Natasha replied, reverting a bit to Russian at her embarrassment.
"That's...unexpected."
"I'm sorry," She said, sipping her drink to hide her face a little bit.
"It's okay. Just...wasn't expecting that." Rahne took a sip of her own drink. A celebrity was interested in her? Really?
Well, Rahne had saved Natasha's life, and she was an attractive woman, especially to someone who was just beginning to explore a whole other side of romance. A very lonely woman who was exploring a whole other side of romance, "Forget about it. Lets enjoy our meal." She smiled.
"...okay." Rahne wasn't really used to that sort of attention. But nothing seemed to work out with men in her dreams, and her luck certainly wasn't any better here. Not that she'd really tried much.
Natasha thought she must have terrible luck. She ate a bit in silence, keeping her head down.
Rahne ate silently as well. She did pick up on Natasha's body language, though. "I'm not used to people being interested."
"That's ridiculous. You're very pretty, and you do a fantastic service to the community!"
"That's ridiculous. You're very pretty, and you do a fantastic service to the community!"
Rahne flushed slightly.
"That color suits you," Natasha added, smiling gently.
Rahne chuckled.
"It brings out your eyes?"
"Thank you."
Putting down her fork, Tasha leaned forward, "I don't mean to embarass you."
"You aren't, not really. I just...didn't expect it. And I'm not sure how to feel about it."
"You don't have to feel anything about it," Natasha replied. She patted Rahne's hand, "Contrary to my television persona, I do have some issues with dating. I'm picky." She winked.
Rahne chuckled softly. "That's nice to know."
"I still can't believe you never get asked out."
Rahne shrugged. "A lot of people say that."
"I love your hair."
"Thank you." Rahne smiled. "I like yours, too."
"I don't think I could pull it off that short," She replied, shaking her head. "I've thought about it though."
Rahne smiled.
Still, what did it say that Natasha had managed to fail at asking out a woman who didn't usually get asked out? She chuckled at herself.
Mostly it said that Rahne didn't really know how to respond to being asked out on a date.
Natasha ate a bit more of her food in silence, feeling a little awkward.
Tasha put down her fork, "When do you want to get together for the training?"
"Well, what's your schedule like?" Rahne asked.
"I'm free this weekend, and again next Thursday," She replied.
"I should have some time this weekend," Rahne said with a smile.
"Excellent!" Natasha might have to wear her most cleavage inducing shirt.
