Thomas had sent Jaina a text asking if she wanted to go grab a bite or something, anything that would help him get out of his house for a few hours since he was going a bit stir crazy waiting to hear back on the part his agent had said they’d been contacted about. A quick message to Amycus had assured him that there was nothing to worry about coming down the pipes that could mess this up for him. Looks like for once in his life even without trying he’d managed to not cause a scandal which was good because he actually wanted this part. More than any that he’d been offered lately.
He didn’t drive very often but tonight he thought it would help calm him as he made his way to the address he was meeting his new friend at. He parked the car, getting out and leaning on the hood while he waited for her, giving her a grin when he caught sight of her. “Hey gorgeous,” he told her with a wink.
***
“Hey to you,” Jaina said, coming down the steps from the door. She still didn’t quite know what to make of Thomas, but she wasn’t about to say no to spending time with him. He was funny, flirty, and her dreams were making her feel increasingly isolated.
“So what’s our plan?”
***
Thomas pushed himself off the hood to come and meet her halfway, offering her his arm as they walked to the car and opened the door for her. He could be a gentleman when the situation called for it. “I was thinking we could go to dinner or hit up a club or just about anything really. I just need to keep busy for a few hours so that I’m not going nuts. Or driving my agent nuts bugging them about a part. I’m up for whatever you want to do.” He said as he walked around the front end and climbed behind the wheel. “Just name the destination gorgeous and I’ll get us there.”
***
“What if we did something scandalous,” Jaina suggested. “Like get you photographed at In & Out.”
Hell, her being seen with him would probably piss off her father. Not as much as a woman, but a Hollywood elite? Yes.
***
Thomas turned his head to look at her as he backed up the car, one eyebrow raised. “We have a very different definition of scandalous. But I like it.” He said, pulling up to a stop sign and opening up his GPS to type in the restaurant name so that it could direct him there. “But the question stands - what are you and going to do to guarantee I get photographed there?” He asked, turning his attention back to the road.
***
“I could go to a nice stripclub,” she teased, flushing somewhat at the thought.
“But I like the idea of breaking all the rules of hollywood. I figure just being there will stir up social media.”
***
“I don’t know - I’ve always had more fun visiting some of the less than nice ones.” Thomas told her, enjoying the opportunity to tease her just a little bit.
“Well if that’s what you want to do - then you’ve come to the right man. I’m all about breaking the rules no matter who sets them. And if we really want to cause a stir on social media…I could always post on Twitter or Facebook or...something about where we are and invite people to come join us. Or would you hate our night being crashed by fans that way?”
***
“GIve me 20 minutes before we start inviting fans,” Jaina said, grinning. “Then we can make it a spectacle. I’ll have to accidentally post to my own facebook to raise my father’s blood pressure.”
***
“20 minutes and at least part of our dinner? Give you time to figure out the best way to phrase it to raise his blood pressure. And for us to figure out the best picture to post to add to it. So that he can’t claim to think he had my name confused with someone else’s face.”
***
“Sounds like a deal,” Jaina said, settling into his car and yet feeling vaguely out of place.
Cars didn’t really exist on Azeroth, unless you were a Goblin.
***
Thomas shot her a sideways glance as he drove, a little over the speed limit (or almost a lot) but he was still in control of the vehicle and to be completely honest - he liked the speed. In all parts of his life - the faster he lived the more he liked it.
“Let me know if I’m going to fast for you,” he said as he took a turn barely slowing.
***
She gave him a look, then said casually. “You’re going too slow, grandpa.”
***
Thomas laughed at her response, turning to look at her as they hit a straightaway. “You talking about the car or…” He let the sentence hang in the air as he watched her face.
***
“The car,” she replied, managing to keep a straight face. She refused to give him the satisfaction.”
***
“Is that so?” He asked, raising one brow at her before turning his attention back to the road and hitting the gas as he moved it into the next gear. “Never let it be said I disappointed a pretty woman.”
***
“Good,” Jaina joked. “Maybe you’ll get us killed and solve all of our problems.”
She flashed him a winning smile, settling back in her seat, and hoping news of today really pissed off her father.
***
Thomas laughed at her comment. “I’m not ready to go out just yet. Especially not in a car crash. Those victims are rarely pretty. And I plan on leaving a pretty corpse. And spending a few more years pissing off my family.” He said with a quick grin as the GPS unit told him to get ready to turn at the next street.
***
“Well, I’m willing to help!”
