When: After this
Where: Random coffee shop
What: Getting coffee
Why: Why not?
Status: complete
Ratings: None, but some light flirting
With the address given, Lydia was already out the door and making her way to her car, since the location was away from campus. Not that she really minded. Still, with her hair tied off to the side in a braid, she made sure to wear something casual and simple. After all, it was just coffee and talking. Lips lined colored in red since it was her favorite color. The drive to the cafe wasn't too long, but it was a good distance away from campus. The thought had her shaking her head with a slight smirk on her features. Once the shop came into view and the car was parked, Lydia had made her way inside.
She noticed, Loki hadn't arrived yet, which was fine. Her small frame (and let's be honest, Lydia was small standing at 5'3) would come to make the line, as her hands rested within the pockets of her jacket. Emerald eyes looking up to the menu as she worked out just what she wanted to drink. With the cold season in full bloom, a lot of vendors now had their winter drinks out for sale. And the thought did cross her mind to get something seasonal. Finally, she decided on what to drink. Nodding her head to herself as she glanced to the snacks and sandwiches that the cafe provided as she looked to see what to snack on to go with her drink.
Finally, she spotted that sandwich that just called out to. A smile on her features once she knew what she was getting. Unfortunately, she was still waiting in line.
Loki had not arrived yet, because he was having second, even third thoughts, and he was walking very slowly. Lydia might not have been in any of his Philosophy 101 classes, he wasn't even 100% certain what she looked like in person, but she was still a student and he was a young adjunct with very little job security. On the walk over, it occurred to Loki several times that just because he had agreed to do something did not mean he had to follow through. Still, he kept putting one foot in front of the other.
He had recently seen his brother bench press a car. That probably had something to do why he had been so easily swayed by a few silly flirtatious comments about socks.
Loki did not live close to the college, which was why the cafe was close enough to his house to travel by foot. He was dressed more casually than was typical for him, in an olive Henley shirt and tight black trousers. Not jeans. He did not own jeans. His jet black hair was tied in a knot at the base of his angular skull, and at a very lean 6-foot-2, he towered over most if not all of the other patrons. He tended to stand out everywhere, unless Thor was around. He looked around for someone who might be Lydia and got in the back of the line.
Lydia was smart. So, when Loki said he worked at her school she had made sure to pull up the staff directory on her phone. This way she knew what the man looked like. With the line moving, Lydia felt someone standing behind her. So, with a quick glance back and up since the person was clearly a whole foot taller than she was. She tilted her head, a few strands of vibrant red hair falling off to the side as she glanced back down to her phone. Yup, that was him alright, is all she thought.
"You still owe me socks." Is all she said. As a way of letting him know, it was her. That smile played over her features as she came to look back to the line and take another few steps. Least the line wasn't long so it shouldn't be long before they would be at the counter. Just a person or two left before it was her turn. Still, she came to glance back up at him.
Literally up. "You could have warned me that you were a giant." She said with a playful laugh escaping her lips.
Ah. So she was right in front of him. Loki felt the back of his neck turn hot, half because he felt stupid for being a bit too oblivious, and half because he had a bit of a thing for redheads.
"Compared to you," he replied, sounding much more at ease than he truly was. He offered her his most rehearsed, most convincing of all the smiles he had learned over the years. He had a real smile too, of course. It just didn't come out so often.
He stuck out his hand to shake hers. Seemed right. Well, no, it seemed very awkward. "Nice to finally meet you, Lydia Martin."
