Who: Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski
Where: Scott's apartment
When: Sunday Morning
What: Scott dreams
Status: Complete
Warnings: Violent content, language, blood.
Scott stirred, rolled over and slung his arm around Stiles' waist to be closer to him. He radiated warmth and comfort, something in short supply of late. Moments later he was deeply asleep and content.
It didn't last.
Flashes of forest and Stiles passed across the insides of his eyelids. A body...no, not a body, half a body! Scott was falling backwards, trying to breath as he gulped with the shock of the fall. Scott could feel the leaves beneath his hands and feet slippy with the cold slime of the dark woods. His heart beat so hard he thought his chest would burst and he could feel himself panicking.
Then he heard a growl behind him. It put the panic into perspective and a chill of cold fear ran through him. He had to get away, now! Scott could see the red eyes in the darkness and something crouching there. He willed his body to move, now, but before he could run the animal pounced and Scott felt pain surge through his hip and blood begin to pump down his leg as he was finally able to move.
Scott dove for the road, trying to stop someone, anyone. A car swerved as he stumbled into the road, almost hitting him.
Somehow he made his way home and eve to school the next day. It made no sense to Scott. None of it.
At the school Dream-Scott showed Dream-Stiles the wound on his hip and Stiles teased him about being a werewolf. Two girls, one of whom looked a lot like Lydia, started talking to them. He watched the scene unfolding and tried to take note of the various people and places they visited.
Later he and Stiles went back to the woods - why would they do that, Scott wondered as he dreamed. The inhaler, right, they need to find the inhaler. Scott's senses seem to be stronger than before and along the way they talk, just like they would in this world. Stiles teasing him, Scott more serious, and then a man with dark hair appears and they stop. For some reason the guy has Scott's inhaler. When they leave Stiles tells him he's just met Derek Hale and that his family were burned in a fire.
The dream continued and Scott was working in the vet's office (obviously a little reality creeping into the weird world of the dream-place). He grabbed some new bandages to dress his hip and the wound is healed. Which made no sense to either Dream-Scott or Other-Scott. He didn't have time to think too much because one of the girls from school, Allison, has brought an injured dog to him and needed desperate help. He helps the dog and calms him with a weird eye-trick. Then he set the dog's broken leg. All the time he and Allison were drawn to one another like some weird magnetic energy. Typical. Scott finally hooks up with Stiles and the first thing he does is dream-cheat on him. Not cool, Scott!
Scott left the vets and went home and to bed and then started dreaming himself, waking up in the forest in just his boxer shorts. It's foggy and he can't work out where he is, but he realises the creature who bit him is following him and Scott runs, faster than he can remember. He leaps a fence and lands in a swimming pool which seems to stop the thing following him.
School again. A guy called Jackson confronts him and wants to know where he's getting his performance enhancers. It gets rough and Scott puts him angrily in his place. Trying out for lacrosse and Scott is good - he's never been good at sports before because of his asthma. Stiles is trying to tell him about the body in the woods, but Scott is too focused on the try-outs and waving to Allison in the stands. He plays well - better than ever - and the coach puts him in the first line. He never thought he'd make the team, let alone first line!
Later, when Scott goes to Stiles' house he finds his friend really wired. Fizzing with energy. He asks if Stiles has had too much Adderall. He admits, yes, but that the's been doing research on lycanthropy. Stiles shows him all the information he's assembled and tells him he can't go out on a date with Allison that night because it's a full moon and it could go badly wrong. Scott refuses to cancel the date and when Stiles grabs his phone to do it for him, Scott gets angry, grabbing Stiles by the shirt and preparing to punch him in the face. When he realises what he's doing he stops and flips over his desk chair instead. Embarrassed, he leaves apologising as he goes.
Scott goes home, takes a shower and heads off to pick up Allison before going to Lydia's party. The two hit it off and are dancing when Scott notices Derek Hale lurking in the shadows outside the house. Suddenly Scott starts to feel sick, he goes pale and sweaty at a sudden sensory overload hits him. He runs for the car and speeds back home. He climbs back into the shower and lets cold water pour over him but as he looks down he notices that his fingernails have lengthened and become claws. He gets up and looks in the mirror and sees that his canine teeth have lengthened and become fangs and his eyes glow bright golden amber.
Stiles knocks on the bedroom door. Scott is too scared of hurting him to open it. Scott informs him that he’s figured it out – Derek is the werewolf that bit him and killed the girl in the woods. Stiles is horrified as it’s Derek that took Allison home after he bailed on the party.
Scott looses all fight against the transformation and shifts fully into his werewolf form and then leaps out of his bedroom window in search of Allison. He follows her scent and finds her blazer hanging from the branch of a tree. “Where is she?” he asks. “She’s safe…from you,” comes the reply. Scott’s enhanced vision makes out Derek hale in the trees and Derek grabs him and wrestles him up against a tree. Derek hears something and tells him, “they’re already here! Run!” before taking off.
Scott doesn’t understand his strength yet and in his confused state doesn’t run quickly enough. An arrow flies through the air containing a flash-bang that temporarily paralyses him. A second arrow pins him to a tree by his forearm. He uses his werewolf vision to see Chris Argent, Allison’s father, is the one who shot him.
Derek attacks and distracts Chris by throwing two of the hunters through the air. Derek breaks the arrow pinning Scott to the tree, allowing the werewolves to escape the area. Once save Derek explains that they are hunters. Scott accuses Derek of turning him and Derek replies “You and me, Scott? We’re brothers now.”
Stiles finds Scott at sunrise dishevelled and walking by himself. He picks him up in the jeep.
Scott sat up suddenly, panting away the dream and snatching back the arm he had around Stiles’ waist, looking at the newly-formed scar there from the arrow. Then pulling the sheets down to check his hip. “It’s happened,” he said under his breath as he tried to get his breathing under control, “Stiles. It’s all true – it’s happened, I’ve been bitten,” he told him in abject panic.
