Who:Cisco, Stiles, and Lydia
What:Cisco shows off his haunted apartment.
When:Just before halloween
Where:said apartment
Warnings:None/family friendly
Cisco had a rough start to his Dreams, so finally getting a day off was nice. He could use the breather, and what better way to spend it than showing off the things he’d created to his new friends? They were a bit younger than him, but that didn’t matter much. He still enjoyed talking with them. Stiles was fun to hang around, and Lydia seemed nice too from what he gleaned from the internet.
His apartment was clean, kept up nicely and had modern style to it. Lots of black, glass and steel. Cisco obviously didn’t make shabby money to be able to afford all the things. When one walked in it was normally clear with a nice glass table, and a leather couch that faced a projector-but now it was all a little different. Cisco’s Halloween house of Horrors was open for business. The projector was currently rolled up, but there was instead a small table with three projectors pointed at it. There were several mirrors and screens where light could bounce off eachother and project a hologram of whatever the user decided. Currently there were four tiny ghosts that spun and danced in what appeared to be mid air. The set up was small, but impressive.
There were pumpkins stacked from largest to small with eyes that glowed and a texture that could have almost could have fooled one into thinking they were real. There were other things, star light projector that was meant to display tiny stars was now rigged for bats on the walls instead. There were spiders that actually dropped down from ceiling hangs, and when they walked into the spacious kitchen they’d find the main event, a witches cauldron that looked like it was actually smoking and brewing real potions.
Cisco couldn’t wait to show it all off. Everything was high tech, and nothing was left by the wayside.
----
Lydia was excited. So excited she even risked her life by getting in Stiles death trap of a car. Okay, so it was that bad, but it was still pretty bad. Still, she was eager to see what Cisco had created, she knew he was excited, which she thought was adorable. Once Stiles told her they were close, she'd text Cisco like agreed upon.
It wasn't long though, that the two were making their way inside the apartment. Her eyes widen, along with her smile. “Holy shit.” is all she said as she looked back at Stiles. Sure, their dreams were a bit crazy right now. And she was happy Cisco provided some distraction with his project.
Already she stepped further into the apartment as she ducked automatically when she spiders came down. “Shut up.” she told Stiles, with a smirk. “Cisco?” she'd call out for the genius behind all this.
She did notice the mirrors, and the pumpkins as she held a bright smile over her features, still. Even walking into the kitchen had caught her slightly off guard with the witch and her cauldron. “He's gonna give me a heart attack. I swear.” she said laughing.
---
The second Stiles sent his last message to Cisco, he was up and out of the house. It didn’t take him long to pick Lydia up, while ignoring her comments on his Jeep. Sure, it needed some TLC, but that didn’t mean it was going to get them killed no matter what Lydia or Scott said.
It wasn’t long before they were at Cisco’s apartment. Stiles had been eager to see how his friend decorated his apartment, but he wasn’t eager enough to just barge in, which Lydia did. “Do you always just walk into people’s homes?” he asked as Lydia just walked right on in.
He followed, shutting the door behind himself. “Hello,” he called out as he looked around, already impressed with what he could see. “I don’t know about having a heart attack, but I wouldn’t mind having some of this at my house.”
*
Cisco hadn’t been expecting anyone to just walk right in, especially with that weapon still in his possession. He’d been getting ready in his room when Stiles sent that text, so he was at least hurrying and aware there were people-but it still spooked him. He glanced over at the Heat Gun he’d put in container and took a deep breath, glad it was unmoved ad safe as he poked his head out of his door. “Be right out!” His place was spacious, probably enough for four people but it was just him living there. There were a few posters on the wall from various sci-fi related things, but it was clean and inviting. He took care of his space. He had a lot of it after all.
He finished pulling on a shirt that said ‘Wanted, Dead or Alive’ and had an image Schrodinger's Cat on it. He stepped out after a few moments into the hallway, pushing some of his dark hair behind his ears to greet his friends. “Welcome to my nightmare.” He grinned, wondering if they knew the movie reference. “Some of this stuff you can take with you, did you drive here?” In his small hallway there were also decorations. He’d managed to make the ceiling look like a scene out of Harry Potter. Pumpkins and candles hung from it while in the “sky” there were various constellations swirling about via another hidden projector somewhere. That one was his. He pointed up at it with a grin. “This one’s my baby, but you can’t take that one with you.”
---
Lydia rolled her eyes at Stiles. But once seeing Cisco come into view, she smiled. Hearing about some of the decorations being for them to take she smirked. Looking down the hall to the Harry Potter scene. “You are a genius.” She said with a bright smile over her features as she came to look back at Stiles.
“Yeah, he drove.” She said motioning to Stiles for the moment as she looked back to Cisco. “Seriously, this is amazing.” She said with a nod. “The kids are gonna love this.”
--
Stiles gave Lydia a ‘what’ look when he saw her roll her eyes. But his attention didn’t stay on Lydia for long. Not when Cisco finally came out from wherever he had been when Lydia decided it was a good idea to just barge on into the apartment.
“Thanks, Freddy,” he said, smiling. “You were quoting Freddy Krueger, right?” He didn’t think he was wrong, but he could be, which was why he decided to ask. “Really?” He hadn’t expected Cisco to say that they could take some of the stuff with them. He was kind of afraid to take anything since he was pretty sure he would break it before it even reached the house. “Like she said, I drove us here.”
He was slowly walking through the apartment. Everything Cisco had up was pretty damn cool. But, of course, the coolest thing was the Harry Potter set up. “I can see why you would want to keep that one. It’s pretty cool. How long did it take you to even set it up?”
*
Cisco was humble about being called a genius, he brushed it off with a laugh and a wave. “I just have a lot of time on my hands.” He grinned sheepishly as he motioned them forward. It lead the way down to his room. He loved Harry Potter, the Gryffindor sign on his door leading down from that small hall probably proved it. The scenery alone was a task, but he’d enjoyed it. Tech was his thing. “And a few resources.” He admitted with a shrug, between the Agency and the Hospital he had limitless ones. Now all he wanted was for his dream Satellite to show up and he’d be complete.
“That one was the longest, between calibration and trajectory of the lighting a couple of days.” He did all this within a week. “Duno if I told you this, but half of this is yours and the other is for the hospital. Everything the light touches, Simba.” He pointed out over the livingroom where various pumpkins lie, they were indeed touched by light. A laugh escaped him. “Sorry, couldn’t resist.” As Stiles picked up on his quote he gave him a friendly clap on the shoulder. “You got it.” And moved them out into said living room. “You guys hungry? I’ve got Thai coming. I was aiming for leftovers, so there’ll be plenty to share.”
In that livingroom to the right of them was a black kitchen table, where a briefcase sat. It was the only undecorated untouched area in the house.
---
Lydia was excited. She let the boys talk about how long it took to set up, while she went to look at the items for the party. Red hair tied up into a ponytail as she snickered at the Lion King ref. “You are the best.” She said as she moved over towards them both.
A quick hug and kiss to Cisco cheek was given as she looked over to Stiles. “This party is gonna be even better now. Also.” She said looking to Cisco. “I have to see how the hospital floor turns out.” her smile never leaving.
--
“It shows.” Stiles wasn’t judging. Nope. He had a ton of time on his own hands and if he could do stuff like this, he totally would. “A few? I’m thinking a lot,” he said as he followed Cisco.
“I’m impressed by it all and even more so by the fact you did all of this in such a short amount of time.” He shook his head a little. “Nope, but you did now.” And now he was snickering at his Mufasa quote. “Now I feel like I should break out into I Just Can’t Wait To Be King.” He headed into the living room and then sat down on the couch. “I’m always hungry,” was his reply to that question.
Stiles had seen the briefcase before he sat down and he was curious about it. “What’s in the case?”
*
Cisco returned that hug,he wasn’t against hugs at all. The kiss however had thrown him off for a minute, and he just smiled at her for a second. “I’ll help you load it up in a while, but food should be here in abit and you’re bth welcome to stay. Besides, it tastes better with friends around.” He commented offhandedly as he released Stiles, and went to grab a coke from his fridge. On the counter was a large box of twizzlers, bigger than the little plastic round ones.Like somebody had it custom made, but that was neither here nor there.
He glanced over his shoulder at Stiles as he mentioned the case, and he frowned a bit. “Something that doesn’t belong.” He couldn’t really go into much more detail. “Ignore it and sing me that song.” He grinned, tossing the younger man a soda. His gaze turned toward Lydia. “ Want one?” He followed Stiles into the living room area where he sat down nearby. “Good man.” There were certain things he just couldn’t tell his new friends unfortunately. The case was locked up tighter than Fort Knox, even if they tried to get into it they wouldn’t be able unless they hacked it- and if they tried, Cisco would know.
---
Lydia couldn't help but laugh at Stiles and Cisco and their movie references. Still, when Stiles took a seat Lydia was already following. A nod was given to Cisco when he offered her a soda. “Thai sounds amazing right now.” plus she wanted to see the delivery guys face when coming to the apartment.
When Stiles pointed out the suitcase and Cisco made that comment, she arched a brow. “Because, that's not cryptic.” She said looking towards the suitcase once more. It made her curious, and if Lydia was curious she knew Stiles was as well.
--
Stiles rolled his eyes at the kiss before saying, “Watch out, she might hump you next.” Oh yes, even now he was teasing Lydia about that whole situation. And he will continue to do so until he finds something new to tease her about. “Oh, we’re staying, buddy,” he said matter-of-factly. The twizzler box had caught his attention and for a moment he started to wonder if it had always been there or was it something new. “Is that new?” he finally asked, as he pointed toward the twizzler box.
“Oh, noooo,” he said, eyebrows raised pretty high. “No song. I want to know what’s in the case.” He caught the can of soda with ease. “And the crowd goes wild…” he put his hands up in victory before he opened the soda and took a sip. “Cryptic only makes me nosier. Soooo, come on…what’s in the booooooooox…I mean case?”
*
Cisco loved that Stiles could almost keep up with his references. Sometimes he had to guess, but that just made it more fun for him honestly. It would turn into a guessing game if he didn’t know. Cisco loved movies. Old ones, new ones, any genre. His home theater set up was also impressive, but that’s not what they were there for today. The projector remained rolled up, but there was a tinier box next to the case that was being worked on as well. It was a little projector on it’s own “What?” He raised an eyebrow at Stiles’ comment. “...Er. Okay?” Obviously he’d missed out on what was going on with the humping, but it was forgotten a moment later as Stiles caught the drink and he grinned. A coke was also handed over to Lydia. As Stiles pointed out his custom twizzlers box, Ciscos grin brightened. “Yep! It’s custom. It might be 400 pieces of twizzler goodness in here.” He patted the box with his free hand, like a proud father.
Annnd then they were all looking at the box, the one thing that was supposed to be ignored, that he thought was bland enough to be left alone and he gave them an unamused look. “A nuclear core weapon.” Humor gone from his face for a moment in an eerie sort of way. “Nobody goes near the case.” He gave them both a stern glare for half a second before it melted away. “It’s leaving tonight. That’s why it’s out here. I can’t move it much, it’s locked onto global security systems.” He said it so casually, was he joking or not, that was the question.
---
With her soda in jand, and seated next to Stiles she stopped mid sip when Cisco told them what was in the box. “Um… why do you have that?” She asked as she lowered her drink and arched a brow at Cisco all while glancing over at Stiles too.
It was a little hard to tell if he was serious or not. But Lydia had a strange feeling that he was very serious. Slowly she finally sipped her soda all while eyeing the box now. As if something was going to jump out at them.
--
Teasing Lydia died the minute the conversation moved onto the Twizzler box. “Four hundred pieces? That is a lot of Twizzlers. Do I need to worry about you?” he jokingly asked. “Am I going to come over one day and you’ll be on the ground in a Twizzler coma?”
It was hard to ignore a box that had something mysterious inside. “Err…” Yeah, he didn’t think that would be Cisco’s answer to what was in the case. He was thinking something far less bad. “Did you make it or did it just show up after one of your dreams?” He looked over at Lydia and then looked right back at Cisco. “Right, well, we won’t touch the scary case that could possibly kill us all.” The case seemed far less interesting now. Hopefully it went byebye sooner rather than later.
“Soooooooo…” He was trying to think of a new subject for them to move on to, but he was kind of blanking at the moment.
*
“It’s complicated.” He waved a hand to Lydia’s question of why it was there. “I didn’t make this one here though, it just...showed up. But it kind of freaks me out a little..” He admitted awkwardly as he ran a hand through his hair and let the stern look soften away. Nobody could touch it, but they weren’t interested in doing so once he explained it-so he could breathe a little easier.
And then Stiles commented about the Twizzler box and Cisco gave him a side long look. “ Worry? Er, probably. “ Finally he laughed a bit and pat a hand on the box itself. “Apparently people will make anything if you pay them enough. I kept running out of the little round containers with their measly 200 count way too fast.” He grinned as he moved back over toward Stiles and sat on the couch. “God this town is weird. I guess none of this helps.” He grinned with a shrug and leaned back to wait on the Thai food. “You guys are welcome here whenever I’m actually around though, just...if something looks out of place don’t touch it? It apparently might be hypertech.” he gave a sheepish grin.
--
“So you got a dream weapon. Awesome!” Or, well, not really awesome. But it was a little bit scary to know that people could get something that dangerous out of their dreams.
Stiles sighed an exaggerated sigh. “I’m going to have to check on you just like a parent has to check on their child.” He could imagine the scene in his head and he couldn’t help but snicker to himself. “I wonder if I could get a Reese’s box…” That would be kind of awesome. He took another sip of his soda and looked over at Cisco when he sat down on the couch. “We won’t bother anything that looks dangerous. You can trust us.” He looked over at the door when the knock came. “Food! Quick. Go answer it,” he said quickly as he playfully pushed at Cisco to answer the door.
---
“Yeah no, not awesome. Terrifying. Maybe a little awesome, but don’t tell anybody.” He grinned, giving Stiles a little nudge. A laugh escaped him as his friend said he’d check on him like parent and child. “Yes save me from the terrible twizzler coma, except for the part where you’ll have to pry them out of my cold dead hands.” He snickered. As the doorbell rang, he got up to grab the food and divvied it up between them all. Maybe Orange County wouldn’t be so bad, he’d already made some pretty good friends.
