Purgatory was his favorite bar to go too but it wasn’t the only bar he went to. Sometimes he wanted a little variety when he was drinking. Not necessarily in what he was drinking as where. There were so many hot bar and club owners on the network and just in the area in general how could he not go to all of them? And flirting with the bartender and anyone else who caught his eye was just icing on the cake for him. It wasn’t just the owners who were hot after all.
He ordered another whiskey and turned around, watching the scene around him unfold with what could have been described as an almost bored expression on his face by anyone who didn’t look at his eyes to see the way they were scanning the scene. Looking for someone worth getting to know.
***
Jaina looked around when she entered, trying to get an idea of the place. She desperately needed a drink after some of her dreams and hoped the drinks were good.
Sidling up to the bar, she took a seat and smiled at the cute man next to her.
***
Thomas noticed the woman who walked up to the bar beside him and he gave her a sort of once over out of the corner of his eye as he sipped at his drink. Nothing to obvious about the fact he was checking her out. Some women got
annoyed over things like that for some reason and he didn’t know if she was one of them. His feelings on it though? If you were out in public at a bar you were opening yourself up to people noticing you and looking at you so why get mad if someone did? If you weren’t interested, something he’d never experienced at this place, you just moved onto someone that you actually were into or was actually into you.
He turned towards her and set his drink down on the bar between them. “First round on me?” He asked her with a friendly grin. “I’m Thomas.”
***
“Second rounds on me then,” Jaina said, giving him a once over as she leaned on the bar. She was in a flirty mood so she didn’t mind it. Kept her mind off of … everything. “I’m Jaina.”
***
Thomas didn’t mind at all when she checked him out. He caught the bartender’s eye and waved them over so that Jaina could place her order. “Add my lovely companion Jaina’s drink to my bill.” He said with a wink to her as he turned that smile on the bartending, not even trying to keep it from turning a little flirty. The guy was hot after all.
***
Jaina ordered her drink, leaning her elbow on the table as she looked Thomas over. In both dreams and reality she had terrible luck with men. Slightly better luck with women, but really, really bad luck with me.
Maybe she should just accept the drink and leave it at flirting. “Do you flirt with everyone you look at?”
***
Thomas turned his attention back to her, smile still in place. “Not always. I don’t flirt with minors. And I have been known to flirt with people over the phone when they call. Those phone solicitors don’t call anymore. I think I proved too much of a distraction for their workers when I refused to answer their questions if they didn’t answer mine about whether they were single and free for dinner that night.” He joked. Well partly joked. He had asked out the employees of the companies that called to try to sell him insurance or a new long distance server.
***
“I’ll.. have to keep that in mind,” Jaina replied, looking around and suddenly needing that drink. She didn’t mind flirting but Thomas was actually a little more forward than she’d anticipated and her face heated up.
***
Thomas thought he noticed a flush spreading over her cheeks and he made a conscious effort to tone the flirting down some around her. He was fairly open about his sexuality and interests but he’d learned, recently actually, that might not always make the people around him comfortable. And while he could be a dick at times he didn’t actively try to be one. Generally. He nodded at the bartender as they sat Jaina’s drink in front of her.
“I’ll try to behave somewhat. So - honest curiosity and not just a line - come to this bar often?”
***
Jaina took her drink, sipping it and sighing in relief. She didn’t want to embarrass herself or anything, but she definitely needed the fortying.
She shook her head. “First time in this one in particular. You?”
***
“I’ve been here a few times. I normally go to Purgatory because I know one of the owners.” Thomas told her as he took a sip of his drink. “Where do you normally go? I’m always looking for new places to check out. And if the other patrons are anything like you - I might want to give it a try.”
***
“I like the Nightcrawler,” Jaina said. “It’s comfortable and I met a few nice people there. A bit old fashioned in some ways, but the bartender is nice eye candy.”
Married eye candy, but nice eye candy.
***
“The Nightcrawler huh? I haven’t been there. I might have to give it a shot. What’s this bartender look like?” Thomas asked, turning towards her again so that he wasn’t facing out into the crowd and just glancing at her.
***
“Bustier than me, which is saying something,” Jaina said, smirking. “Raven haired with gorgeous brown eyes. Tall, but not as tall as me.” Jaina was a good six feet, so at least she had some advantage over the hot bartender. Of course Bo was also a succubus but Jaina didn’t know that.
***
Thomas let out a low whistle before grinning at Jaina. “I’m definitely going to have to go there and check things out. Any chance I could talk you into going with me? I do hate drinking alone.” He said, picturing the bartender in his mind based on her description.
***
“You might be able to, if only so I can watch you strike out with her.” Jaina smiled, leaning her chin on her hand. “I’ve seen her wife pick her up from work, she’s jacked.”
***
Thomas grinned when she mentioned watching him strike out with her. “See now we have to go. Because I have to try my luck. What can I say? I’m addicted to punishment.”
***
“I don’t know if she works today,” Jaina said, getting to her feet. “But we can always go see.”
**
Thomas finished his drink in one long swallow, setting the empty glass on the bar and closing out his tab before turning to her. “Only one way to find out if she is or not. I’ll call us a cab when we get outside.” He said with a grin as he walked towards the door.
***
Well, this was going to be interesting, Jaina decided. Though she was torn on whether to be annoyed or not that he had stopped mostly flirting with her at the prospect of a married busty bartender.
But maybe that was for the best, if he was turned off by the married part.
