After having been abroad the past few weeks, it was strange to be back in Orange County in her own flat. She'd gotten used to being in Europe and New York City, doing equal parts work and pleasure with Freya. Part of her actually wished that they were still on vacation, which was an odd thing since Evie tended to be a workaholic. But she just really enjoyed spending time with her girlfriend and doing things together that weren't work-related. She really did like Freya, but sometimes she was afraid that things were moving too quickly or too slowly and that she was messing everything up between them. It was something that she tried not to think about, but when she was alone, that's when it got to her.
After how her relationship with Yang had ended, she was extremely aware of how she approached relationships. She hadn't wanted to rush anything when she and Freya had first become a couple, and she was still maintaining that now nearly nine months later. But was that a mistake? Was Freya wanting more from her than she was giving? Or was it the complete opposite and she was giving too much? It was an intense struggle that she waged with herself when she was alone at night.
While she'd managed to get over repeating the mistake her dream self had made with Henry and pushing him away, she wondered if that played a part in her current crisis. After all, while Freya was accepting of her Assassin lifestyle, that didn't mean that Freya would be able to handle it in the long run. And even though Evie had survived her dreams, the off-the-books work she did in this life could get her killed. One day, she could be on a mission and not be fast enough or aware enough and she'd get taken down by one of her targets. That wasn't something that she ever wanted to put Freya through. In the dreams, Henry was an Assassin, he understood the dangers and that they could die at any time in their lives.
Sighing heavily, Evie was sitting on her couch going over the notes she'd taken while in Europe. She'd made some contacts that were invaluable to her off-the-books missions. The fact that Freya had gone on vacation with her was a very good sign. That meant their relationship was good, right? But what if the fact that they hadn't had sex yet was messing it up? Had Freya wanted sex? Was Evie's fear of moving too fast in that department messing things up? It was hard to tell.
Well, no it wasn't. She could just ask Freya, but she was afraid to bring the topic up. Evie wasn't a prude, but sometimes talking about it wasn't the best idea in the world. She rubbed a hand over her face and leaned her head back on the back of the couch and stared up at the ceiling.
"Am I being a bloody idiot?" She muttered. At which point her phone rang. Sitting up, she reached for it and saw that it was her brother calling. She rolled her eyes. "Ah, my mistake. There's the idiot," she commented. She then answered and talked to her brother and proceeded to push her troubles aside for later. Much later, if she had anything to say about it.
