Who: Juliet Carlson & Daenerys Targaryen What: Daenerys gets discharged from the hospital & she goes back to the old house to discover her dragons! Whaaaaaat. When: Tuesday afternoon Where: Irvine General Rating: R, there's still some dark stuff in here. Status: Complete
"The tests came back and everything looks good. You're free to go. Is there anyone you would like me to call for you?" Juliet noticed that Daenerys didn't have any visitors during her short time in the hospital. She idly wondered why that was and why the Irvine police were so interested in her. Although with just a little more thought she would put it together; the girl had started the fire that killed her brother herself. She couldn't imagine hating anyone as much as that, or maybe she could. In some life somewhere she had tried very hard to kill Benjamin Linus.
Dany was so low it actually felt like she was shrinking as she sat there in the hospital bed. She had been so angry, so desperate for some relief of that constant fear that she had acted rashly. She had killed her brother. And it had felt good.
She swallowed and shook her head at the doctor who had treated her so kindly and kept the detective attached to her case at bay. "No," she said, barely audible. "There's no one." It was sad, but it was true. There wasn't anyone left in the world now who really knew her. Maybe that was a good thing. Maybe she was getting what she wanted; a fresh start. Only time would tell if she'd actually get away with it.
"Just call me a cab."
Juliet pressed her lips together and nodded her head. She wasn't usually the sort to pry into other people's business, but she felt oddly in tune with this young girl. "I think everything's going to be okay for you. Here. The detective assigned to your case told me to give you this." She handed the girl a folder with information and vouchers in it.
"Thanks," Daenerys tried to force a smile, but it came out as more of a grimace. She looked inside the folder to find vouchers for some clothes, food and a hotel. It was enough to get her started until the insurance money came through.
"The nurse will be in with your discharge papers in a few minutes and I'll call that cab." It was the least Juliet could do. She turned to leave, but paused in the doorway to give the girl one last look. "Good luck," she said and then disappeared down the hall.
-----
"Where to?" the cab driver asked Dany as she sat down in the back seat in her signed clothes.
Anywhere but here she wanted to say, but the detective had told her not to leave town. They already suspected her. A very large part of her wanted to just run. Get out of town. Never look back. She'd done it before. She'd ran when she was only fourteen, but now maybe it was time to do the hard thing and stay.
"1652 E. Bear St," she said.
When they arrived the place was deserted. Just a big pile of ash and burnt timbers in the middle of a housing complex. Dany's heart nearly stopped.
"Wait for me here," she told the cab driver and then got out.
She made her way to the exact spot she knew her brother had died. She wondered how many of those ashes were him.... used to be him. She bent down and scooped up a handful of it and then let it run between her fingers. Why was she feeling so sad about losing her brother? He had been nothing but horrible to her. He had got what he deserved and now she was free to live life outside of fear. It was good, right?
Then something caught Dany's attention out of the corner of her eye. Something moving and a small cracking sound. Could it be?
She went to investigate and found the three eggs that had appeared to her from her dreams siting right where they had been left, untouched, unburnt.
