"He did," Elena confirmed. He'd done a lot of not great things, of course, and not being around for the beginning of the night hadn't been great, but he had ensured it ended well enough. Reluctantly she pulled away, nodding at his question.
"Both?" She could tell him what happened while having a drink. It wouldn't be an entirely unwelcome proposition. As they moved inside, finding drinks and a seat, Elena took a deep breath, steeling herself to live through events again.
"I think the last time we spoke about the dreams, I had dreamed about you almost dying." Tyler had bitten him and werewolf bites were incurable. Except they weren't once Klaus was a hybrid. His blood had the power to cure. Ironic, really, that someone who brought so much death and destruction could also save people.
"I'm a bit past that now." Elena seemed to dream in spurts, moving months ahead in a single night and then nothing for weeks. At least she didn't have to live through that night after night. "Stefan went with Klaus, you kept me sane that whole summer. The road trip to the mountains, another to Chicago...and then we fought." He had said something about not being Stefan.
"When Klaus showed up again, you weren't around." And Klaus had been his usual charming self. Threatening and killing all with a smile. "He turned Tyler, he made Stefan turn his humanity off and he was ready to take me and disappear." Her head ducked, fingers playing with the glass in her hand and when she looked up again, the emotion was evident in huge dark eyes.
"You came to the hospital. You carried me out and took me home and made me feel safe. And you promised you wouldn't leave ever again." And where Elena was concerned Damon kept his promises.
She offered a smile, though eyes were watery still. "So, yeah. Your dream self did something good."
