Logan didn’t typically do dates at all, let alone hooking up with a woman on the internet, but after Kitty and Isabela he kind of had to put up or shut up. Kira seemed nice, anyway, and attractive, so wasn’t like it was an imposition.
She also seemed nervous, so he kept that in mind while he waited behind the bar and thanked God Bo wasn’t in right now because she’d never let him hear the end of it.
He was dressed casual, in jeans and a nice button up shirt. He was also probably shorter than Kira. Probably.
Right, this was totally cool. People did this all the time! Well, Kira didn’t, but Logan didn’t need to know that! Or maybe he did? Did she tell him that? Or was that just Isabela? Kira couldn’t really remember now as all the conversations seemed to be swirling in her head as she tried to calm herself down as she pulled into a parking spot. This wasn’t a date. Nah. It was just someone hanging out with her! Showing her around. Letting her meet new people. It didn’t matter that his friends sounded like they were his own personal pimp crew! Everyone was just having a bunch of laughs.
Except she had dressed up. Kinda. She had put on a cute sundress and sneakers, tying her hair to the side. Yeah, cute. Good.
She pushed open the door, letting her eyes adjust from the bright sun to the darker inside. It didn’t take her long to notice Logan and she grinned, lifting her hand up in a small, awkward wave.
“Hey,” she said, stepping up to the bar and setting her clutch on it. “Logan?”
Everyone was indeed having their laughs but they were also, in a way Logan’s personal pimp crew. Though to be fair, they were trying to give Kira as good a time as Logan.
“Hey darlin’.” He smiled easily at her, then nodded at the bartender on staff to take over as he came out from around the bar. He offered her his hand, as he took a seat on the stool next to her.
Kira smiled back as he came around, faltering a bit as he took her hand. To hold? No, that was too weird, why would he do that? So she went for a handshake. “Hey. Hi.” She took her hand back and used it tuck some hair behind her ear. Breathe girl, BREATHE. She closed her eyes and took a breath, opening them and giving him a more confident smile.
“Sorry. I don’t go out very much.” If that wasn’t painfully obvious. “Um, thanks for meeting with me though.” She looked around the bar. “So you own it?”
She was adorable and probably nearly panicking, it was endearing. Logan quirked a brow, leaning his elbow on the table, “Yep. Bought it a few years ago and got it all nice an’ cleaned up. Isn’t the fanciest but it doesn’t need to be.”
He looked her up and down a bit, “Maybe just fancy enough for you.”
Kira turned back to look at him, just in time to see him give her the once over. She blushed. “It’s the sneakers, isn’t it?” She glanced down at her feet. “I don’t like wearing sandals in the city though. Have you ever done that? You come home and your feet are practically black.” She made a face and grinned. The same could be said for San Francisco though too. It was always better to wear closed toe shoes.
“It seems pretty nice. What’s a girl gotta do to get a drink?” Kira hoped she could pull the cute card just well enough to get that question to work.
“Don’t wear sandals at all,” Logan replied. His shoes tended to be sneakers or boots. Dress shoes when he dressed up. “Unless you count flip flops at the beach.”
Which he didn’t.
He grinned at her, “What do you want?”
“You’re not a sandal guy?” He certainly didn’t look like a sandal guy. She considered the flip flops and nodded her head. “You really like the beach don’t ya?” Well, at least she could guess. He had recommended that at the beginning of their network conversation.
She thought about what she was going to have. She wasn’t a big drinker, but she was in college, so she knew her way around a bar. “Vodka cranberry?”
“Fuck no.” Logan flashed her an easy grin, “Beach is nice, forest is better.”
But taking a girl he just met out into the woods was creepy stalkerish. He directed the bartender to make her drink. For himself he just had jack daniels. “Don’t drink too heavily darlin’.”
“Really? I didn’t think there were any forest’s around here.” Everything seemed to be beach and city and Disneyland. At least to Kira. “Have you ever been to the Redwoods? That’s like the best of both!” Kira watched the bartender make the drinks, sliding her eyes over to look at him, another blush crawling across her face. “I’m not such a light weight,” she challenged, sitting up on the barstool a little.
“Farther to the east, there some places when you get up into the mountains,” Logan explained. He kept meaning to get a cabin up there. Something closer than the Canadian Rockies anyway.
“Been up there, it’s gorgeous. I’ve been a lotta places. An’ I ain’t sayin’ you’re a lightweight. But I can drink this whole bar down an’ barely feel a buzz.” He kind of preferred his dates not be too drunk to consent. Otherwise Kira would end up tucked into bed for the night.
Assuming things went that way anyway.
“How far out?” That sounded like a good idea to do this summer. She might be able to take off enough time to do a small camping trip. “Do you go very often?”
“The Redwoods are my favorite.” She glanced at him as the bartender handed her her drink. “Thanks,” she said with a smile, but held it down on the bar. “Do you travel a lot?” That was something Kira wanted to do but hadn’t really gotten around to it. Well, it would help to have a bit of money, something she didn’t really have at the moment.
“Oh, so maybe that’s your superpower?” She couldn’t help but grin, taking a sip of her drink. “Definitely more than I can do. I could maybe do a couple shots before it started to catch up to me.” She had thought it was rather impressive, but seemed nothing compared to Logan.
“Couple of times a year. Usually go alone, get some me in the wilderness time. Commune with nature, shit like that.” He wasn’t going to out and tell her that he went running naked with the wolves.
“Anyway, it’s related, but it would probably freak you out.”
“So you’re one of those mountain men kinda guys?” She could see it. He seemed fit enough, she could somehow picture him outside chopping wood or catching a fish with his bare hands. Very rugged.
“Freak me out? How?”
“Lets just say I got a few surprises that I ain’t gonna share on a first date.” Logan grinned as he brought his drink to his lips.
Oh. Kira blushed, taking another sip of her drink. So it was a date. “I see,” she said, rolling her glass on its edge, carefully balancing it. “Are there ever second dates when you get to find out?”
“If you want.” Logan just figured popping claws too soon might make Kira a flight risk. He could be gruff, and occasionally an asshole, but he was usually only an asshole to people who knew him well (or people who were bad guys).
His laid back attitude was almost intimidating as she couldn’t figure how he did it. It seemed so at ease with this whole situation as if it were just another day with him. Maybe it was and she was just next in a string of girls who seemed to take an interest in him. But how could you not? He seemed interesting enough on the network.
“Do you have a lot of dates?”
“Not as much as people think,” Logan admitted honestly. “It’s a song and dance I stopped bothering with a long time ago.”
Usually, when he went out, it was explicitly for things like Isabela. Or it was because he was already with someone.
“Really? Why?” She leaned her temple against her closed first, her arm holding up her head as she looked over at him. The drink was halfway through and she was happy that usual blush wasn’t creeping across her face...at least not yet.
“There’s too much else goin’ on in my life.” Logan shrugged, signaling to have his drink refill. “Either it’s someone to have a little fun with, or it’s an actual relationship. An’ I’m tryin’ to generally avoid the second thing.”
Well getting any information outta Logan seemed to be like pulling teeth. At least he didn’t offer up the information, Kira had to feel like she was pushing or digging too much. Still, curiosity got the better of her and if he seemed willing to answer…
“You’re gonna keep making me ask?” she asked with a grin, another sip from her drink. “I don’t blame ya though. Not being in a relationship seems...easier.” Not that she could really say. She’d had a few boyfriends here and there, but nothing too permanent. Most of the guys she’d dated weren’t really the type she could picture herself in a long term relationship with; they were fun for a bit of time and then it was time to move on.
“I’m guessing you’ve had a couple bad ones?”
“That’s the fun part, makin’ you ask. I could turn it around and ask you. You don’t seem like you’ve had many relationships.”
“What are you a sadist?” She gave him a teasing look and a sly grin, but shrugged her shoulders. “Pretty obvious though, isn’t it?” She finished up her drink, holding up her empty tumbler for another. “I dunno, none were terrible. They just seemed interested in one thing.”
“Just a little.” Logan took a swig of his drink, “Ain’t nothin’ wrong in that one thing if that’s what you want too. But I can see it bein a stickin’ point of you want more than that.”
“Doesn’t everyone want something more?” Kira always thought it was a natural course of feeling, for someone to want to be with someone else. That feeling of protection and love, that no matter what you do, they didn’t judge you or even care. She nodded her head in thanks as a new drink was deposited in front of her.
Logan regarded her for a moment, then rolled his shoulders. “Most people do. Sometimes they ain’t ready for it. That takes time and experience.”
Of course, sometimes experience ruined everything. There was a line of corpses in Logan’s past, and he steadfastly refused romance. Friends, sure. Friends with benefits? Hell yes.
But no more strings. Not again. His heart couldn’t take it again.
Kira tried to look back at him but gave up before he did. She took a sip, thinking about what he said. “Yeah, I guess you’re right,” she said, staring into her glass. “Guess you and I are kinda alike then.” She grinned, realizing how silly it sounded. When you looked at her and then at Logan, they seemed like they couldn’t have any less in common. But she was starting to see there was a reason they had connected online.
“So you buy a girl a drink, get her to loosen up and talk to you about love? That’s a bold pick up attempt.”
“Worse case scenario, I made a friend,” Logan pointed out. “An’ at least I’m tryin’ to be honest about wantin’ to bend you over the bar.”
Okay so he just wanted to make her blush.
Now that she was on her second drink, the blush may have looked a bit redder and didn’t go away. She took a sip of her drink, thinking it would help cool her down...stupid really. Especially when she took more than she had meant to and it caused her to choke a bit. Great.
“Water please,” she was able to croak out and was soon taking a long drink. “You were saying?” she asked, sheepishly looking over at him.
Logan chuckled, sliding her some water. “I don’t know, what was I saying?”
Which was cheating.
She had to fan herself to calm down, pressing the back of her hand to her forehead. “Mmmmm...you were telling me how you wanted to do something that would get you a health code violation. Plus it seems a bit unreasonable
givin’ you’re not even closed.” Things felt a bit fuzzy, but her eyes were clear as she looked over at him. “You can’t offer something a bit more private?”
“I got an office,” Logan suggested. There was also always the fallback to the restroom, but Kira seemed like a classy lady. He could also appreciate how open she was being. And her flirting was hot.
Kira laughed, shaking her head. “Woow, you really know how to treat a lady, don’t you?” She turned to face him, crossing her legs. “You sure you can’t offer something a bit nicer?” She cocked an eyebrow at him, taking another sip, her eyes never leaving his.
Clearly, she’d taken lessons from Isabela, and if that was the case, well Logan can deliver. He leaned in close to her, his mouth close to her ear and his breath hot, “Beachfront hotel suite.”
His closeness made her shudder and she looked at him from under her lashes. “Definitely better.” She grinned, tossing her hair and pulling back so she could look him in the eyes. “After our drinks?” Her heart began to pound and she took a sip to try and calm it down.
“Finish what you got, darlin’.” Logan pulled back knocking his drink back and finishing it in one go. “An’ I hope you don’t mind motorcycles.”
“Motorcycle? I’ve never been on one of those…You sure it’ll be ok to ride with you? I won’t throw your balance or anything?”
“Trust me.” Logan got up and held out his hand. “You don’t got to worry about that. Take someone a lot more than you to throw me off my balance.”
Trust me. Well that was exactly what she was doing as she finished her second drink and took the hand he held out. Right. This was happening. Not that she minded but well...she was never good with things like this. She wished she could be a bit more sexy, but she just felt silly if she tried to do anything. Still, she smiled at him as she followed him out, eyeing his motorcycle with a bit of skepticism.
“Scared darlin’?” Logan said, swinging onto the bike and revving the engine. He offered her a helmet.
“Maybe.” She looked at the helmet and put it on, suddenly realizing she’d have to hold onto him once he got them moving. “I mean, I trust you...kinda, but...yeah.” It was a lot to take in for meeting a stranger and possibly going over to their place and who knew from there.
“I’m fine….it’ll be fine.” She wasn’t sure if she was convincing Logan or herself.
Laughing, Logan waited for her to get settled before he started driving. Unlike certain people who shall remain Kitty, he didn’t pop a wheelie or do anything like that. Too rough on the bike, to be honest.
And they were off! Kira couldn’t help but grab him tight around the waist, surprised to find nothing but muscle there. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to focus on the wind blowing on her overly hot face. Right, she was fine. She gave a moan as she leaned her cheek against his back. Do NOT throw up on this man’s back. That could make the rest of their night fairly awkward.
He couldn’t tell, but that sounded like a bad moan, so he drove more carefully than he would have otherwise. Besides, he could heal and she couldn’t, so there was that.
Something she’d have to know about eventually. She might even find out tonight if she clawed his back and it healed.
The longer they rode, the more Kira felt comfortable on the back. She kept her face against his back for comfortability sake, that was all.
~~~
Kira was silent as Logan booked them a room, ocean view, smirking behind his back as he paid for it. She suddenly felt like some kind prostitute and wanted to facepalm. Real classy Yukimura, reeeeeal classy. Still, she had to appreciate the sentiment behind it; she had challenged Logan and he had stepped up to it.
As soon as they were in the room, she suddenly felt the embarrassment of what to do and stood in the doorway, playing with her fingers.
To his credit, Logan slipped his arm around Kira and treated her like she was his date and not a prostitute. Which she was. He put on the do not disturb sign and closed the door. Sensing her apprehension, he slid his hands down his arm, “You okay?”
She looked up at him, shivering as his fingers traced over her skin. “Hmm? Oh. Yeah, yeah, I’m ok.” She blushed at how close he was, but didn’t move away. “I just wish I still had a drink.” She laughed nervously, looking from Logan to the bed and back to him. “Just something to feel more relaxed, ya know?”
"I can help you relax a little, but I don't think you should have anything more to drink," Logan told her. He kissed her shoulder, "I have a much higher tolerance than you do, Kira. I ain't goin' to do anything if you're in no condition to consent to it."
Her eyes closed as she felt him kiss her shoulder and she dipped her chin. Isabela has been right about his boundaries and she turned to look at him, a smile spreading. “I can tell you right now I definitely consent.” She paused before reaching behind her to loop her finger through his belt loop, pulling him closer to her. “That won’t change.”
“If it does, I want to be the first to know,” Logan’s hands dropped down her back to cup her rear end as he pulled her against him. “...Have you ever?”
“Mmmm…” Kira smiled as she moved closer to him. His question brought another blush and she shook her head. “No...I mean no! I’ve…done it before.” I just might not be good at it.
“Okay. I’ll just have to ruin other men for you,” He teased, lifting his hand to her chin. It was strange. She was actually a little shorter than him. Usually he was a lot shorter.
Kira giggled, looking up at him with a raised eyebrow. “And how are you going to do that?”
Logan started by simply kissing her.
It was...nice. It wasn’t demanding anything and Kira found it easy to return it, her hands coming up to lightly rest on his chest, her heart still pounding with anticipation. “Good starting point.” She kissed him again, her hands wrapping around his neck to pull him a little closer.
Grinning into it, Logan slipped an arm around her waist and lifted her up. He carried her over to the bed and sat her down, then sat down next to her.
She was surprised as her feet left the ground and her hold around his neck tightened. She couldn’t help but stare at him, marveled at his gentleness; he certainly didn’t seem like the type who would go at whatever pace she set. And maybe she didn’t want him to. But bluntness and communication in regards to sex was something Kira WASN’T use to and wasn’t sure if Logan would really wanna be that person for her.
“I might be bad.” She didn’t go into further detail, but looked down at her hands playing with the bedspread.
“Close your eyes, relax.” Logan slid a calloused hand down Kira’s neck, across her shoulder, and then down to her waist. He couldn’t help but add, “If I ain’t gotten you off at least three times before we’re done, I’ll eat my motorcycle.”
Kira couldn’t help but blush at his blunt goal, but she couldn’t actually say anything about it. That seemed a bit high, especially since she may have only gotten to that climax once or twice. Three times in one go? “So ambitious,” she said, her voice low. “You sure you’re feeling up to it?
“I’m more than feelin’ up to it.” He grinned, fingers slipping up down to her hips as he subtly pulled her skirt up just enough to stroke at skin below the hemline, then leaning in to kiss her again. Kira was the kind of nervous that could be worked through, if she didn’t give into them before she’d worked through them. But he could work with that too. Slow and easy, giving her plenty of chances to bolt if she wanted.
But he really hoped she didn’t bolt.
Kira leaned back as his fingers traveled upward, one arm down to balance, the other wrapped around his neck as she returned the kiss. Every caress seemed to give her a shock and it began to feel like a delicious torture. She let herself fall against the bed so her hand could move up and untuck his shirt, her hand moving to caress his skin.
Plus side to a sundress, it was easy enough to push up. Logan’s left hand trailed in warm circles on her hip and outer thigh, his other hand treading dangerously close to Kira’s chest. Teasingly close.
“This good?” He murmured.
“Yes.” Her voice came out more as a whisper and she didn’t have to worry about how she might sound or look because she was completely lost in what he was doing, hyper aware of where his hand was and how dangerously close it was to making her fall apart completely. Kira couldn’t help her body responding to his, arching up for more.
Moving his hand around, Logan fanned his fingers out in a caress across the sensitive skin of Kira’s inner thigh. There was too much fabric between him and this woman - In normal circumstances he’d claw the dress right off, but he didn’t want to scare her.
Instead, he pulled it off of her like a magic trick.
It felt like magic to Kira, a cool breeze causing her to shiver as her dress was tossed to the floor. She shivered, whether from the temperature change or anticipation, but she pulled him into a kiss, her hands moving down to unbutton his shirt. She felt the same desire as she imagined herself tearing off his shirt, buttons flying. But she pushed the garment off instead, sighing with contentment.
Logan propped himself up, breaking the kiss to admire her, and making no move to remove her underthings. Not yet, anyway. Instead, he stroked his hand along her thigh, teasing his fingers at the elastic of her panties, before leaning back down to kiss her.
When he pulled away to look at her, she couldn’t help but blush again. She thought that stage had passed, but as soon as she had opened her mouth to make a comment, his was soon covering it and she couldn’t help but moan into the kiss. She felt herself tremble with every caress he gave her and wanted a lot more than what he was giving her.
She bucked her hips up to meet his, grinning as she realized she wasn’t the only one ready for more.
Logan gave her a little grunt when her hip smacked into his. With a low growl, he grabbed her panties and ripped them off of her with surprising strength. He tossed it aside, the ruined fabric fluttering through the air. “That’s better.”
“Mmmm...maybe for you,” she said, feeling as if it was an unfair advantage that he still had his own pants on. “But you’re still overdressed.” She hesitated just a bit before she leaned up and kissed him, lightly pulling at his bottom lip with her teeth.
“Want to do something about it?” Logan growled, laughing as she pulled him back into the kiss. His hand slid up to to palm her breast, while the other teased at her thigh again. It seemed to be his favorite place and he was either trying to drive her mad or drive her to distraction.
Another moan escaped her lips as his hands roamed her body and she sank into the bed so she could unbutton his own pants, helping him push them down and off. “Better?” she gasped, opening her eyes slightly to look up at him.
“Just a little,” Logan replied, eyes dancing across Kira’s body. He leaned in, kissing her throat, then nuzzling his face between Kira’s breasts before sliding very slowly down her body, leaving a trail of marks behind.
Each touch made her shudder, but she wanted more than the teasing nips and kisses he kept giving her. “You promised me a good time,” she said, the words turning into a moan towards the end. “You seem to just be teasing me now.”
“You seem to like that,” Logan said. He turned his head, biting Kira’s thigh lightly, then tasted her skin as he moved up again, “Who said teasin’ ain’t all part of a good time?”
And then a good time turned into sampling the menu.
Kira opened her mouth to say something, but all that came out was a gasp, quickly followed by a moan.
Logan was going to make sure she couldn’t walk the next morning. He was nice like that.
