Tyler had thought that he wouldn’t ever voluntarily seek out Klaus again after Klaus had convinced him to go on a feeding frenzy with him, but that changed when Caroline had woken up, poisoned by dream!Tyler’s venom. Now, all he could think of was to get Caroline to Klaus to help. Klaus was the only one who could help him; he had to.
Tyler sped most of the way to Klaus and Freya’s house, Caroline in the passenger seat. It may have been Tyler’s imagination, but every minute that passed without Klaus’s blood seemed to make her look worse. After what felt like an eternity, he pulled in front of Klaus’s house, opened the passenger side door to help Caroline out of the car, and sped to the front door. He knocked loudly, calling Klaus’s name as he did so.
Caroline placed an arm around Tyler for support as she made her way to the front door. She still didn’t think this was a good idea, but she wasn’t sure what other options she had.
Klaus was asleep as most people should be at this ungodly hour, when he heard Tyler basically pounding on his front door and yelling his name.
What the hell?!
Tyler should know better than to disturb him, ever. But especially when he was sleeping. Clad in pajama bottoms and no shirt, Klaus made his way to the door.
“What do you want?” he growled as he opened the door before he caught sight of Caroline standing next to Tyler. Or attempting to stand next to Tyler. Klaus frowned slightly. “What the hell happened?”
“It was the dreams,” Tyler said. “She just dreamed of when you told me to bite her, and the bite carried over. We need some of your blood to heal her,” Tyler said, trying to keep the panic out of his voice. He doubted it would help much if Klaus knew how much this worried him. If anything, it would only give his sire more leverage against him, as if he needed it.
“Her birthday,” Klaus commented. He remembered the dream well. He also remembered how he had been the one to heal her. Something that wasn’t going to happen here. Caroline had Tyler’s focus split. Klaus did not approve. All Tyler’s attention was supposed to be on him. “That’s something my dreamself would do,” Klaus added in regards to the blood. “Not going to happen here.” He looked over at Caroline. “Sorry, love.”
That… was not the answer Tyler had been expecting. Couldn’t Klaus see that Caroline needed him? He had always been under the impression that the Klaus of Orange County wasn’t nearly as cruel as the one in Mystic Falls. “Klaus,” Tyler said. “Please.”
He looked at Caroline for a moment longer. But it only gave him more resolve. He wasn’t going to become soft. He wasn’t saving anyone… outside his siblings of course. He would have their backs - always and forever.
However just because he wasn’t going to save her, didn’t mean he couldn’t have a little fun with Tyler. A smirk crossed his face as he turned his attention back to Tyler. “Perhaps,” he began. “If you beg.”
Tyler didn’t particularly want to grovel. Not to Klaus. Not to anyone, really, but especially not Klaus. And especially not with Caroline right here. He looked at her again. She really didn’t look well; the sweat was practically pouring off of her.
He took a deep breath, bracing himself. “Please Klaus. I’ll do anything you want. Just please give us some blood. I’m… I’m begging.”
Klaus couldn’t hide his amusement. However it wasn’t enough. Now that he had a taste he wanted more. “Better,” he said with a small grin. “Now on your knees.”
Tyler bit his lip, and then looked over at Caroline again. He wished that he hadn’t brought her along. This would be a lot easier if she wasn’t watching him do all this. But when Klaus gave him the blood, well, it would worth it to be able to give it to her right here and right now.
He let go of Caroline, hesitating a minute to make sure that she could stand on his own, and then sank to his knees. “Please Klaus,” he entreated his sire, looking up at him, before lowering his head toward the ground. “We just need a little bit.”
“Don’t,” Caroline tried to tell him. She did her best to sound firm. But she knew it was no use. She was too weak. And even if she wasn’t she knew Tyler had to do whatever Klaus asked. So she just watched as Tyler got down on his knees, doing her best to remain standing.
“Tempting,” Klaus replied. “But no.” He kept his eyes on Tyler. He didn’t want to chance looking back at Caroline, having his dream feelings for her overpower him. He was not going to weaken and give his blood. “Now I believe it’s time for you to leave.” With that he took a step back shutting the door on Tyler and Caroline before he changed his mind.
“Tyler,” Caroline said her voice barely a whisper. “It’s okay,” she was doing her best to reassure him. To let him know this wasn’t his fault. She was about to tell him they would find another way. She would be okay. But before she could get the words out, her legs gave out. Too weak to hold her up on their own. Caroline fell to the ground.
Tyler stared at the closed door where Klaus had stood just a moment before, gaping in disbelief. There was a large part of him that wanted to bang on the door until Klaus changed his mind, to bust in there - he’d had an invitation after all, even if he didn’t think Caroline had - and not leave until Klaus said otherwise.
But then Caroline fell, and Tyler managed to barely grab her before she hit the ground. He couldn’t sit around and hope for Klaus to change his mind. He’d have to turn to the Network, and hope that someone out there could cure what was incurable in his dreams. He scooped Caroline into his arms and stood back up, then turned to leave.
