While the Dreams were coming slower than before, they hadn’t stopped. The latest involved getting closer to Keelin, as well as the Hollow messing with Klaus and Marcel - who she still wasn’t convinced was worth the effort to save. But her brothers had a soft spot for him and thus ignored the threat he posed. Waking up with injuries was never her favorite thing to deal with but the head injury Keelin had needed to tend to was easy enough to fix up.
That done, the witch headed down to the kitchen to make coffee. While she tended to prefer tea, sometimes coffee was just necessary and based on her schedule for the day? It was definitely going to be a coffee sort of day. She’d be lucky if she managed to get any actual breaks during the day once she was out the door.
Jessica and Klaus had hooked up a few times since she’d met the man at the bar, but, luckily, they were both on the same page when it came to sleepovers. Mostly, that they didn’t happen. The night before hadn’t been much different. They’d done what they’d needed to do, and Jessica had grabbed her things and headed home.
At least, she thought she had grabbed all her things. It wasn’t until the cab had pulled up in front of her apartment that she realized that she didn’t have her wallet on her, and she’d had to run inside to get the small amount of cash she kept on hand in her apartment to pay the cabbie. It was too late to go back that same night, so she’d passed out in her own bed.
She poured herself a thermos of Irish coffee the next morning, and began the walk to Klaus’s place. She could have cabbed it, but she honestly wasn’t sure if she’d left her wallet at Klaus’s house or at the bar. When she got there, she knocked on the door, bleary eyed and not entirely pleased at needing to start her day so early.
Things Freya was not expecting that early in the morning would be someone knocking on the door. Her immediate concern was that it was one of her siblings since she really couldn’t think of anyone who would show up that early otherwise. There were no messages on her phone from them though, or Evie. Which made it strange.
Coffee still in hand, the blonde went to the door and opened it. She might not be totally awake but if necessary she could defend herself. Not that she figured it would be and it wasn’t like the invasions of Orange County led to people knocking on doors… Instead it was a woman who looked more exhausted than Freya felt. Okay…. That was just….
“Um..hi. Can I help you?”
Jessica had expected Klaus to get the door, so she was surprised when a pretty blonde opened the door in his stead. It only took a moment for her to realize that this must be the sister he’d mentioned. Good looks apparently ran in the family. “You must be the sister. I’m Jessica,” she didn’t know if Klaus had ever mentioned her, and she’d be surprised if he hadn’t, but she’d be even more surprised if she didn’t know that Klaus occasionally had a girl over. “I think I think I left something here last night.”
Okay, it was slowly coming together as to who this woman was. There were reasons that Freya had done a sound proofing spell. She really didn’t need to know about her brother’s sex life. Maybe this was how it felt for him in the Dreams when she’d been going through her wanting to catch up on everything she missed phase after Dahlia had been defeating. Whatever though.
“I am indeed the sister.” As for leaving something the night before? Well… she couldn’t exactly ask Klaus since she was pretty sure he’d have shown up by the knock on the door or the fact she woke up injured - which probably meant he was out getting something to eat. “Right, come in.”
She didn’t seem a threat and well Freya could handle it if she were. Klaus could yell later if she ended up being wrong.
“Thanks,” Jessica said, entering the house. “You mind if I look around?” It was either in the kitchen from when they had a nightcap, or up in Klaus’s room. “And do you know if he’s home?”
“Go for it.” Freya had nothing to hide. Well, there was the attic which might seem...odd but given that there were spells in place to keep people from entering without her permission, she wasn’t too worried about that. Besides, Jessica would clearly know best where to look. As for the question about Klaus? “Seeing at how he hasn’t made his presence known since you’ve been here, I’m guessing he’s at the gallery.”
It was day after all so her initial suspicion about if he might have gone out for something to ‘eat’ was probably wrong. Why so early, who knew. Klaus would be Klaus though.
Jessica nodded, and made her way to Klaus’s room. She searched the floor and under the bed, but didn’t find it, and came back downstairs. Luckily it was in the second place she thought to look, which was where Klaus kept all his alcohol. She managed, barely, to resist the urge to pour herself a glass of Klaus’s fine bourbon.
“Found it,” she said, flashing the wallet at Freya before slipping it into her jean pocket.
Keeping an eye on Jessica as she headed to Klaus’ room, Freya shook her head some and went back to the kitchen to get her coffee. So once coffee was in hand, the witch made her way back to the general living area and sipped it as she waited for Jessica to find her wallet.
Which she did, causing the blonde to nod some.
“Did you need help with anything else or was that it?” She didn’t mind but it was overall just… too early really for any of this. But Freya at least could be polite.
If Jessica could read Freya’s thoughts, she would have agreed wholeheartedly. It was way too early for this, and she wouldn’t have looked forward to it even if Klaus had been home. But it was way worse with a complete stranger needing to see her … whatever this was. She couldn’t exactly call it a walk of shame, since they didn’t usually involve coming back to the scene of the hook-up. “No, this is all I needed,” she said, making her way back to the door.
If it was a walk of shame, it was a new version. Honestly Freya couldn’t say all that much. She’d had her flings overseas and then the whole living all the life she’d missed in the Dreams. Still a bit awkward though.
“Alright. Well, see you around?” She supposed? Orange County was oddly small, especially among the Dreaming population. And who knew if their paths would cross if Jessica showed up with Klaus while Freya was around.
“Yeah, maybe,” Jessica said. Hopefully not. Talk about terrible first impressions. If Freya saw Jessica as some drunk, irresponsible screw up, she couldn’t really say she blamed her. But it really was likely, especially since Klaus had become one of Jessica’s more regular hook-ups. Maybe they should start meeting at her apartment instead. And with that thought, Jessica turned and walked out the door.
