Are you sure you’re ready to be a Shepard?
Who: Shep and Callisto
What: Shep is having a bad day
When: Today
Where: Their place
Status: Complete
Rating: PG-13
Shepard was having one of her bad days. Her implants were flaring up, like burning throughout her body. Her leg was worse, and there was a ringing in her bad ear, which should be impossible since it was completely deaf, but it had happened before, so she figured it was like a phantom limb type thing.
She didn’t have the good pills, but the ones she had could help take the edge off. At least a little.
Despite that, she was in a relatively good mood, because she said in an old lady voice, “There’s a storm acomin’. I can feel it in me bones.”
It was never easy to tell if Callisto was having a good or a bad day given her mood could change so quickly and suddenly. But at the current moment, she was calm. Perhaps slightly restless, but calm. She wasn’t in a murderous mood, and she wasn’t manic either. She glanced over at Jane, an eyebrow arched curiously.
“Can you tell if it’s gonna be a bad one?”
“Oh yeah. Every joint feels like it’s on fire,” Shepard confirmed. Honestly, she was pretty sure that she’s lose a lot of her cartilage by the time she was fifty and she wasn’t looking forward to that.
“Sounds as though you could use an ice bath, or something similar.” Callisto couldn’t relate. While she’d experienced death multiple times, and had experienced torture and experimentation by Hydra, she never had the pain that Jane experienced. Though she had to wonder if she would actually age given her state of being.
“You just want to get me naked and in a tub,” Shepard countered. She made her way over, slipping her arms around her.
“Is that what you think?” Callisto retorted, her hands sliding up Jane’s arms and to her shoulders. “Though what if I do? What are you going to do about it?” It was possibly a challenge, though Callisto wasn’t actually going to force Jane into the tub.
“Fight you to within an inch of my life,” she joked, eyes flashing with amusement. She could barely handle fighting Callisto when she as 100%. Though she’d put some thought into it and some day soon she wanted to try a few things in a rematch.
“Is that so? That does sound like fun,” Callisto retorted. Though she knew at the moment she’d probably win even with both of her hands tied behind her back. She did try to not completely pulverize her girlfriend when the fought. She knew that Jane was breakable. It was just difficult to go all out in such a fight when one was superpowered and fighting someone who wasn’t. Jane had her powers, yes, but she was still mortal. Callisto definitely wasn’t mortal anymore.
Supercharge her implants, and Shepard could take her. Something to play with when she didn’t feel like shit. “Although a n’ice massage sounds a lot better than a nice fight. Something about your hands being heaters.”
“I suppose I could warm you up with a massage. If you ask nicely, of course.” Callisto stated. She’d give the massage anyways, but she did want to hear how nicely Jane would ask for it.
Shepard narrowed her eyes, then smiled and said in the most cloyingly sweet voice she could, “Callisto darling, would you be ever so kind as to give me a nice warm full body massage?”
“Since you asked so nicely,” she responded, her hands starting to warm up as they rested on Jane’s shoulders. Sometimes her abilities could be useful, who knew?
“Oh…” Jane’s eyes fluttered shut and she bit back a moan. “Oh jesus.”
She had actually really needed that massage, apparently. “Have I told you how much I love you and your hands?”
Callisto couldn’t help but to laugh a bit. “You do know I haven’t actually started, right? I just warmed up my hands?” Though even as she said that, she guided Jane over to sit down and she stood behind her and started to massage her shoulders and neck, moving slowly enough so that the heat could sink in.
“That just means my praise has nowhere to go but up,” she pointed out, leaning back against Callisto after she’d sat. She could feel her muscles relaxing, which in turn helped her implants and joints. “Fuck…”
She worked on Jane’s shoulders, neck and upper back muscles for a while, feeling them loosen up under her touch. She worked on the knots she found, letting the heat help to work them out. “I suppose this means I can be your personal little furnace.”
“Winter is going to be so awesome.” Jane grinned, eyes shut and her entire body feeling like it was going to melt. “I think maybe that storm isn’t comin’ after all.”
“Perhaps I should take you somewhere cold just to put it to the extreme test.” Callisto did mean somewhere like Antarctica. She slid her hands along Jane’s arms, letting the heat sink into them as well before she went back to work on her shoulders.
“Maybe tomorrow,” Jane replied, groaning. She arched her, rolling her shoulders against Callisto’s hands.
“We can keep that in mind,” she responded as she pressed her hands against Jane’s shoulders, increasing the heat a little more.
“Oh jesus, right there.” Lowering her head, Shepard let a groan out. It would be really tempting to suggest what she’d been thinking about lately, but she never knew how Callisto might be feeling at any point in time.
But sometimes you just kind of went with it, and Shepard was good at just going with it. “Lets elope.”
Upon getting that reaction, Callisto kept on that spot. Though at the second thing Jane said, Callisto was a little taken aback. However, that didn’t stop her from keeping her hands working on Jane. “Are you serious?” Because sometimes it was difficult to tell.
“Not something I’d joke about.” A beat. “Not something I’m joking about right now.”
She turned around, looking up at Callisto’s face, “I mean it.”
Callisto looked down at Jane. Marriage had never been something she’d thought about. Then again, a romantic relationship had never been something she’d thought about either and yet here she was with Jane. And, well, she wasn’t opposed to the notion. “Yes. Let’s do it.”
“Seriously?” Shepard burst into a grin. “Are you sure you’re ready to be a Shepard? You’re enough of a disaster.”
Did Callisto even have a last name? She’d never bothered to ask.
“I’ve survived with you this long, haven’t I? Besides, I could ask the same of you, if you’re ready to be with me like that.” Callisto was definitely a disaster, and definitely insane. But she did love Jane and if Jane wanted to deal with her for the rest of their lives, then she wanted to deal with being a Shepard for the rest of hers.
“I wouldn’t have asked otherwise.” Shepard got to her feet, sliding her hands across Callisto’s cheek. “I’ll call Isabela and Miranda, we’ll need witnesses. Unless you’ve got someone you want there.”
Callisto slid her hands around Jane’s lower back, pressing her warm hands against it. “I rather think my sister wouldn’t take kindly to not being there.” Which kind of went without saying, really.
“Of course, we’ll take her too.” Shepard grinned at her. “I can’t believe I forgot.”
