Who: Ruby and Steve
What: Ruby's putting up flyers to look for Ilia, Steve runs into her
When: Recently
Where: Around
Warnings: Low
Status: Partner Thread | Complete

Ruby was worried. Not about graduation or what she would do when her internship ended (Okay so there was worry about those as well) but she was worried about Blake’s friend Ilia. Apparently she had been missing and no one really knew where she was. So when she’d been asked to help put up fliers to see if anyone had any information? Of course Ruby was going to do that.

Which was why she wasn’t in her work room despite not having class or her internship. While she should be doing the finishing touches on her water purifying system that was her final project, she was currently putting up flyers with Ilia’s picture on them along with contact information for anyone who might have seen her before she had disappeared or knew anything.

Steve was minding his own business as he headed home from the gym, bag slung over his shoulder, and sipping a protein shake. He looked kinda gross - why bother with the showers at the gym when he could just shower at home? Tonight was finally a night when he didn’t have something he had to run off to after he worked out. He was passing a woman putting up flyers when he realized what she was doing and back up to take a look. It was a missing poster with a girl’s picture on it and his brow furrowed, “What happened?”

The words were out of his mouth before he knew it and he flushed before dropping his hand down on the ground, “Sorry, that came out wrong. I was just curious about more information so I can help keep an eye out.” It wasn’t a good thing when people went missing, it reminded Steve of his Dreams, and he wanted to do his best to be a good person unlike in his Dreams. So even if he might never run into this girl he could at least try and help out.

It definitely wasn’t good when people went missing and the fact that Blake had asked for help? It spoke to how serious this was because she knew her friend was dealing with a lot and probably hadn’t wanted to really ask for help in the worry of getting in the way of her studies (she had more or less insinuated as much in the initial text) and of course Ruby was going to help.

Hearing the question, Ruby looked to the voice.

“I don’t know much. My friend’s roommate went missing. From what she said, it seems she’s been missing since Wednesday the 16th. At least that’s the last time that anyone has seen her…”

Which was definitely worrisome. It had been a week now and no sign of Ilia.

Woah, the 16th? That was a week ago and they were just now putting up flyers? It must mean that police hadn’t really been able to do something, if they contacted them, and that wasn’t a good sign. Steve hadn’t been able to do a whole lot in his dreams when it came to trying to find Will, so that was kind of spurring him on a bit to try and at least do some looking and keeping his eyes open around the area.

“I’m really sorry to hear that. I’ll definitely keep my eyes open and see if I can find her anywhere. It’s a good thing you’re putting the flyers up - they definitely catch the eye and put the thought into your head,” he couldn’t speak to if they had a good track record of helping find missing people/items/pets, but there was that innocent part of him that hopeed they did.

It was hard to know why it had taken so long. But probably miscommunication, thinking she was with one person and that person thinking she was just around someone else. Ruby couldn’t say, she only knew Ilia in passing from when she would visit Blake at Logan’s.

“Thanks, the more people who are even aware she’s missing, the better.” Because really now. Teenage girls going missing was not a good thing. Not like Ruby had much of an idea on how well missing flyers would work. She tended to believe in the best of people and wanted to give chances. Even seeing and interacting with those who didn’t care about people who got hurt and were cruel…. She still believed in the inherent goodness of others as well. So raising awareness? That was part of that belief.

Something caught his eye on the flyer and he realized he hadn’t really taken a good look at the picture on the flyer. He stepped closer as she spoke and his brow furrowed. This girl looked like the one he had helped in the alley the other day and his eyes went a bit wide in surprise, “Wait, I think I saw this girl a few days ago. I was walking down [xx] street and passed by someone fighting with someone else in the alley. This guy was harassing her and I went over to stop it.”

Seeing Steve start to pay more attention to the flyer, Ruby blinked. And then he said that he had seen Ilia fighting with someone in an alley and how she was being harassed and… well, it might definitely mean something.

“Do you think the guy would have done something?” After all, she hadn’t been there, she didn’t know how angry the guy had been and it was the first real lead she’d been told and she knew Blake would have mentioned if she had heard anything that was worth looking into.

“It’s definitely a possibility because he was incredibly upset with her and said she was lucky that I showed up. It wouldn’t surprise me if he tried to find her again later when she was on her own again. She said she was going to the store when I asked her if she wanted me to walk with her to her next stop, so that was the last I saw of her,” Steve was definitely concerned now to know that someone he had run into just a few days ago was missing. How the hell does that actually happen? It was almost enough to make him want to punch something in frustration.

“I’m sorry I don’t have anymore info than that, but I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for her. Do you mind if I take a photo and spread it around social media?” It might help just to get Ilia’s face further out there and maybe someone would help find her.

Biting her lower lip worriedly, Ruby gave a small nod. She had seen what anger could do to people. At least in the Dreams. Either way though? If Ilia had inadvertently upset someone… well, that could definitely explain why she had gone missing. Because she didn’t get the feeling from Blake that Ilia was the type to just up and leave without saying anything.

“No, it’s definitely help and at least an idea. I’ll have to let my friend know.” About to pull out her phone, Ruby paused at the question, “Yeah definitely, here.” With that she handed Steve one of the flyers.

When the flyer was handed over he took it with a solemn look upon his face. God, he really hoped that Ilia would be found soon. “Thank you, I really appreciate it. I really hope she’s found soon - no one deserves to go missing. But I’m glad she’s got someone like you looking out for her,” it was a lot more than some people would do - it was the sign of a true friend, “I gotta get going, but I’ll make sure to let you know if I hear or thing anything else.”

“Thank you for being willing to help. But I hope so, too.” The longer Ilia went missing, the more worried Ruby got, and the more worried she knew that Blake would be as well. So having even something of a lead and someone willing to help? All good things in her book. “Okay, thank you again.”

With that, Ruby went back to putting up flyers. They had to find her, they just had to.
