Who Leon and Liv What: Liv's pissed at Leon - Leon gets pissed at Liv When: Tuesday, May 15 Where: The morgue Ratings/Warnings: Low/none Status: Complete
Liv couldn’t believe Leon had let Dan sit in jail for a whole weekend. He knew Dan was innocent. If he let her stay in jail for the weekend she could kind of understand it. The actions were hers after all. Though it wouldn’t be a good idea to keep her locked up for two days. She learned that from the dreams. But none of that was the point. The point was Leon left Dan locked up when he knew Dan was innocent.
To say the zombie was mad was an understatement. She was pissed. Not only that but she felt betrayed. She couldn’t even look at Leon, let alone talk to him. So when he came into the morgue for an update she kept her eyes on her computer. “Nothing new,” she told him bitterly.
Leon raised an eyebrow at Liv’s tone. He wasn’t sure what exactly had gotten under Liv’s skin, but he didn’t think it was because of anything he had done. After all, he hadn’t done anything except for risk his entire career because Liv had fucked up. Whatever it was, it probably wasn’t any of his business.
“Hello to you too,” Leon said. “I’ve got some files here on her acquaintances, if you wanted to go over them with me.”
“You can leave them,” Liv replied tone still bitter, as she continued to type away on her laptop. “I can go through them on my own.” She wanted nothing to do with Leon at the moment. Whether he realized it or not.
Leon stared at Liv for a moment, confused. The hell was this? “Is this a new brain?” he asked. Last he checked, they weren’t exactly done with the old one. “Like, surly teenager brain?” Because he could think of no other reason why she was treating him like a pile of dog shit she’d just stepped in, especially what he’d done for her over the weekend.
“No,” Liv snapped. “Same brain.” The same one that got Dan arrested. Which if she was being honest some of her anger at Leon was probably misplaced anger for herself. But even if it was all her fault. Leon had still let him sit in jail for two days! She wasn’t sure she could ever look at her ‘friend’ the same again. “Is there anything else I can help you with?”
Now Leon was even more confused, because it seemed like Liv had some sort of problem with him. But he knew she couldn’t be angry at him after he’d stuck his neck out so far for her. His lips thinned into a line. “Do we got a problem here?” he demanded.
“What do you think?” Liv shot back finally looking at him. “You let my boyfriend spend the weekend in jail when you knew he was innocent!” She had planned on just ignoring Leon. But he kept asking and she was too mad not to say something.
Leon stared at her for a long moment, not quite able to believe the bullshit he was hearing. There was no way that Liv had actually just said she was pissed off because he hadn’t immediately jumped to commit a felony for her. “Well I am sorry for taking a couple of days before deciding to risk my fucking career because you’ve got no fucking self-control,” he said, forcing himself to remember to keep his voice low so it came out as seething whisper. “Because Dan might be innocent, but do you know who isn’t now? Guess who commited a fucking felony this weekend, Liv.”
Liv looked at Leon wide eyed. She didn’t know the details of how Dan got out. But she hadn’t expected to hear that. “You did?” she whispered. Now she was feeling even more guilty. Guilty for getting Dan arrested, guilty for making Leon get him out of it, and guilty for being mad at him.
“What the hell did you think breaking someone out of jail entailed, Liv?” Leon snapped. “I’m a detective, not a judge. I can’t just wave my hand and make it all go away.” He needed air, or, more accurately, a cigarette or five. “Eat a different brain, I’ll solve this on my own,” he growled, and turned to leave, but not before punching the wall on his way out.
