Who: Isabela & Rose What: Rose gets to visit Isabela’s home When: Thursday Where: Isabela’s ship Rating: Low Status: Complete!
After so many conversations about coming for a visit, Rose and Isabela were able to make their calendars align. Hard to do when Rose got home from one job by 2 in the morning and had to be back at her other job by 5 in the morning. She was learning that coffee was better in caffeine than tea and she was starting to feel more and more like a true California resident with each passing day.
But today was the blessed day she had off from both jobs. It was a rare occasion and Rose knew exactly who she wanted to spend the day with. How could you say no to a boat ride? Sure, the weather wasn’t the warmest, but she was sure Isabela could still show her a good time.
She took the transit to the dock, glancing down at the paper to see which area she was in. When she saw the boat, she grinned, looking for her hostess for the day.
Bela was waiting at the docks un a speedboat, her yacht actually anchored out a ways off the coast. These days it was better to camp it out in international waters, in large part due to the fact that Bela'd been exploring California's seedy underbelly. It was a hell of a lot more interesting a business than chartering her boat out.
She waved at Rose and then pointed over her shoulder at her yacht, "Ready for a quick sail? We'll speed on over and then I can get you the grand tour. Hope you don't get seasick!"
Rose hopped in, the grin spreading from ear to ear. “I dunno actually! This is my first time on a boat! If I start to feel a little sick, I’ll just lean over the side of the boat.” Rose couldn’t help but feel giddy with her first trip on the water. She looked around her, feeling as if this boat could be swallowed by a large animal hiding in the water.
The grin stretching a little too far now, she gave her attention to Isabela, trying to calm herself down. “I didn’t know you had two boats!”
Bela motioned out across the water to her yacht, grinning from ear to ear but in a far less potentially terrified manner.
"This boat's just the one that gets you from the shore over to that one! There's actually a little compartment in the back it docks at. I've got watercraft, too! Little jet skis and such. But I won't ask you try any of those out. Is this your first time off land, then? Aside from airplanes, I mean."
Rose tried her best to laugh, the motion of the boat still doing funny things to her stomach. “Such a fine lady to have two boats, one to get her to her actual home!” She grinned a little easier as they pulled along the bigger ship and the waves stopped mimicking the rolling nature of her stomach. “Ta, I think jet skis would definitely be better for next time!”
She nodded her head at her question. “I’ve never been on water like this, so I gotta find my sea legs!” That’s what they called it, right? “Hopefully it won’t take too long now.”
"It shouldn't! This boat's so huge that it really doesn't pitch and yaw the way that smaller ones do. It's built for maximum comfort since it's meant for large parties and guests and events and such!" Isabela answered, before hopping out of the boat and getting it all settled in.
She reached a hand out to Rose, "Let me help you up and out, yeah? I guess we'd better start the tour somewhere other than the galley, eh? There's plenty to see, though! We can head up these stairs and start with the media area!"
Rose was thankful for Isabela’s hand to keep her steady as she tried to go from one boat to another. Without that offered hand Rose was sure she would have been overboard in no time, making a complete idiot out of herself. But once she set foot on the larger boat, she felt a bit more at ease and found that Bela was right, it didn’t move with the water as much. Well, of course Bela was right; she was the expert!
“Much better,” she said as she successfully made it onto the yacht. She turned to Bela, grinning as if she had just accomplished something great. “I can’t wait to see everything! Lead the way my Captain!”
"Ooo, I like it when people call me Captain," Isabela purred. "I quite enjoy being in charge of things, you know? But here we are!" She motioned around her, though the aft of the vessel wasn't that impressive. A large door in the back could be opened up to reveal all the stowed watercraft, but at the moment it was hiding other goodies as well, and Isabela had it shut. Everything was white and silver accented against the darker wooden platform, and it was very shiny. Isabela was proud of her yacht, and she kept it in good condition.
She lead Rose up a small flight of steps off to one side and onto the main deck. "We've got all kinds of deck area to dine on, sun yourself on... Lots of big couches and sunny areas with pillows and such. This place gets quite busy when I host parties."
"And there's the little spa area." Isabela added, pointing to a square area towards the back of the deck, tiled and filled with water that was nearly clear. "That's MY favorite place up here, second only to the little wet bar up front."
It was hard to follow Isabela through the yacht and not have her mouth open. It was a beautiful ship and Rose could only imagine what her famous parties were like on here. She liked a good party as much as the other person, but she felt like the ones Isabela threw were something else entirely.
“How often do you have people over? And you’ve gotta have your own cleaning crew, right?” She couldn’t imagine all the cleaning that went into this ship and Isabela being the one to keep up with it. Or maybe she did...Rose knew cleaning wasn’t a strength of her own.
The more they walked around the boat, the more calm Rose felt. “You’ve got everything!” she said with a laugh. “Is there anything you don’t have but want?”
"When the ship's being chartered there's definitely a cleaning crew, yeah. Can't keep up with all the messes guests might make! And they expect service like a hotel, so you've got to deliver that." Isabela replied to the first thing, while walking Rose down some steps and onto an outdoor dining area that opened up into a large living room. "But I really only have big parties myself every so often, since you can imagine the hell it all is to keep up. I love a good party! But the after-party's quite something else."
She pondered Rose's question then, as she lead her friend into the big living room and its bar. "There're a few yachts like this that come with big pools up top and waterslides. I do wish I'd gotten something like that, but I loved this media area too much not to buy this one instead. Care for a drink, kitten?"
“So when’s the next big party?” she asked, almost bouncing on her feet now. She had heard stories of Isabela’s parties, and part of her wondered if she could keep up, but she wouldn’t be able to tell until she tried! So if Isabela would have her, Rose was determined to make it to the next one she had.
She took in everything as they walked through, her mouth slightly opened as if she were touring a grand mansion. Everything was so beautiful and pristine, she could tell Isabela had good tastes. She turned back to her hostess when she offered a drink and grinned, nodding her head. “Would love one, cheers! Whatever you want, I’m not too picky.” Which was true. Ever since she started working at the Inferno, Rose’s taste in drinks had expanded.
“A pool and waterslide sound so cool! Do you think it could be modified to be added too?”
"Oh, I don't know... Fourth of July's a rather big day over here in the colonies, maybe I'll throw a bash then! Summer's usually when I start chartering this thing out for the pay, but something tells me I'll be taking the season off from that." Something to do with how very much more lucrative her new side jobs were becoming, though Bela didn't mention that. Instead she hummed a tune while she mixed herself and Rose up some Brazilian cocktails that had dry, refreshing citrus notes and some sweetness to them.
She glanced upwards in the direction of the top deck, and shrugged a shoulder. "I'd have to speak to an Engineer about a few bits. We'd have to retrofit the deck and keep the right tanks on board to blow the waterslide up when we wanted it."
Rose realized that this would be her first 4th of July in America and her face lit up. “That would be amazing! I’ve never experienced a true 4th of July! Do you think you’ll do fireworks?” That was the party Rose looked forward to the most. After her few trips to Disneyland, she thought the fireworks were the best part of it all!
“Do you know any?” Rose asked, wondering how much something like that cost. There had to be people here that could help Bela out without costing her an arm and a leg; where could one find a wizard that could just make it happen? Rose felt like they could just make an ad on the network, but now she might be jumping to conclusions...what if she didn’t really care? Like she said, entertainment was more important!
Rose lounged on one of the seats outside, enjoying the weather and the gentle lull of the ship. She felt like she was finally seaworthy and was happy she didn’t have any of that sick feeling anymore!
"I don't, but I'm sure there's just oodles of them a phonecall away if I decide to do it." Isabela sounded confident of this, though she'd never bothered to even check the phone book. She hit up the wet bar and fixed up a couple of glasses of refreshments, complete with little umbrellas and orange slices, and brought them over.
Holding out one of the glasses to Rose, she grinned, "Alright then, it's decided. We'll have a huge fourth of July party. We can chat all about the details sometime soon. For now, why don't we just enjoy the good life! Plenty of sun, a gorgeous ship, and some delicious drinks, yeah?"
Bela took her own lounging space and toasted Rose with her glass. "You're going to have an amazing afternoon. Promise!"
