It had only been a day since he had dreamt of killing Ansel. Less than twenty-four hours since Freya had located the exact location of his biological father. He had flown to Virginia that same day, arriving late at night he chose to confront Ansel the following day.
Compelling his way through Falls Church he found out where Ansel worked. He showed up at the regional park where Ansel worked as a ranger. Klaus made his way through the park listening to different heart beats until he found the one the sounded like the one in his dreams. With vampire speed he made his way over to the man, checking the name tag that did indeed Ansel.
“Hello, Father,” Klaus greeted.
It had been years since Ansel left Orange County. Almost thirty. After Mikael found out about his torrid affair with Esther Mikaelson he had no choice. He started a new life for himself. Got married, had two kids of his own. Ansel had no idea Esther had been pregnant when he left. He had no idea the man before him was indeed his son. So when the man greeted him by calling him father Ansel was thoroughly confused and it showed on his face.
“I think you’re mistaken,” Ansel replied calmly. After all he had no idea who this man was. That Klaus was his son. And he had no idea what his son was capable of.
Ansel’s response struck a nerve with Klaus. It didn’t matter to him that Ansel might have never known about his existence. All that mattered to Klaus was that he was being denied a father once again. “No,” Klaus practically snapped his anger already growing, before realizing he probably needed to explain more. “You slept with my mom. Esther Mikaelson.” Though he was giving an explanation that anger was still there.
The shock was evident on Ansel’s face. That was a name he hadn’t heard in years. A woman he had tried to forget. But even with his current wife, he never truly got over Esther. Ansel examined the man before him. He did resemble Esther. But he didn’t see himself in the younger man at all. “You do look like your mother,” Ansel conceded.
“And you’re my father,” Klaus growled letting his anger get the best of him. He had thought about this moment so many times ever since he learned Mikael wasn’t his father. And never did he think it would go this way. That his father would hesitate to claim him.
Ansel was a bit taken aback by just how angry this man sounded. That rage, he had seen it before. When Mikael had threatened his life. The man before him couldn’t be his son. He had to be Mikael’s. It was the only way he could have this much anger. Not to mention the only way Ansel could live with himself. “I’m sorry,” Ansel said keeping his calm. “Esther would have-” he paused, not wanting to talk about his past. Or think about it. The only way he had been able to get on with his life was to leave everything with Esther in the past. “I already have a son.”
If Klaus wasn’t angry before he sure as hell was now. His father was denying him. Not only that but he was talking about some other son?! Klaus had enough of that growing up. Enough of being the outcast of the family. Enough of feeling like he didn’t belong. He wasn’t about to go through that again. Not with his biological father. Before Klaus could process his actions his hand reached out, into Ansel’s chest and ripped out his heart. </l-cut>
