Finn’s dream appeared to be coming fairly regularly as opposed to taking long pauses in between considering he’d only dreamt about Sage a month earlier and after that there had been a few brief dreams about travels with her after he’d turned her. Now they were going to Italy where the rest of his family was. Where Rebekah’s fiance was throwing a party. Had it not been a party for Rebekah, Finn may have decided against going, but she was his little sister so he simply couldn’t say no.
However, declining the invitation probably would have been a good idea, because at the party Alexander, who turned out to be a vampire hunter daggered him and his siblings in order to neutralize them.
Of course these being anything but normal dreams, as Finn slept the same dagger that had pierced his heart in the dream, manifested itself in that exact same spot putting him in much the same state as in the dreams.
With her trip in Jordan coming up in the next few days, Freya was doing her best to make sure she caught up with her siblings. It wasn’t like she was going to be gone all that long - not even two weeks. But still, she wanted to see everyone before she left for work. And thankfully, Klaus had finally let up on his whole ‘you are not to stay anywhere else but here’ nonsense. She knew he would but it was still nice once it came about.
Freya had been sleeping peacefully - no new Dreams since saving Klaus and leaving New Orleans in the last one - when something woke her. Confused, but trusting her instincts (they hadn’t let her down yet), the witch went to investigate just what was going on.
And that’s when she saw Finn dead, his skin desiccated just as it had been when he’d been killed in her own Dreams.
“No….”
Rushing forward, determined to save him. There was no way he was at that point yet. He would have said something…
And that was when she saw the dagger. Well, it certainly didn’t hurt to try. With that, Freya grabbed the dagger and pulled it out of her brother, praying that he would wake up.
When the dagger was removed the effects were almost instantaneous. The grey color to Finn’s skin faded and it returned to its natural color. The veins receded and after a moment or two Finn’s eyes snapped open and he gasped, his hand flying to his chest where the dagger had just been. In his shock it took him a moment before he sensed Freya, his enhanced vision making it easy to pick her out in the dark, “Freya…” At first he thought he simply felt like he’d been stabbed as a result of the dream, but then he saw the dagger in his sister’s hand, “I’m not sure if I should be surprised or not that that happened.” Sitting up, he rubbed his chest once more before dropping his hand down to his lap.
Freya didn’t realize she’d been holding her breath until Finn’s eyes opened and she let herself breathe again. That had been far too close for her liking. It was good to know that the dagger could just be removed and Finn would be back to normal but after her own dream where he’d been bitten and he’d died? Logic didn’t always win out in those situations.
Still holding the dagger, Freya looked at it and then her brother and shrugged.
“It is the way of this place.” Never assume a thing wouldn’t cross over basically. It was safer that way, “Do you need anything?”
“Very true. I’m just glad you were here,” Finn said as he reached over to turn on the lamp beside his bed so that Freya could see better. Finn might have had enhanced senses because he was a vampire, but Freya could not see in the dark as well. “Otherwise who knows how long I might have been like that.” And he certainly wouldn’t have wanted one of their parents to come looking for him and find him daggered. Not only would they think he’d been murdered, but someone would get quite the surprise when they took the dagger out to prepare for an autopsy. “I should probably have a drink.” And by drink, of course, he meant blood. He’d already had a blood bag earlier that day, but apparently being desiccated made a vampire hungry afterwards.
“So am I.” With the light turned on, Freya blinked some so that her eyes could adjust and she nodded in agreement. Because really now. Who knew who the next person over might have been or who would have gone looking for Finn. She was going to be gone from ten days come Tuesday and if she was the one to check… well, it was just better that she was here now instead of having to worry about all of that. “Of course.” Getting up, Freya headed to the kitchen, figuring Finn would follow, and if not she’d just bring a blood bag back.
As Freya left the room, Finn got out of bed, expecting to feel uneasy as he stood up, but was surprised to find that he was pretty steady. Sliding his feet into slippers, he padded down the hall after his sister until he reached the kitchen, “I’m beginning to think that perhaps I shouldn’t keep these in the fridge.” He said as he opened it and pulled out a blood bag, “On the off chance I ever have a non dreamer over.” Not that he had, other than their mother, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t in the future.
Well, that certainly caught Freya off guard. Spinning around, she quirked a brow and smirked teasingly. Which admittedly was much better than being in constant worry mode. Okay she was basically always going to worry, but there was nothing that said she couldn’t tease her brother while still worrying about him. Especially as he did seem to be okay besides needing to feed.
“Why Finn, is there something you’re not telling me?”
Finn laughed and shook his head, “No, but it would be just like our mother to come over unannounced and I’m not exactly sure how I’d explain blood bags in my fridge,” Esther had last been over just after he’d moved back, but that didn’t mean that she wouldn’t come over sometime in the near future. “And don’t worry, if I were seeing someone, you’d likely be the first person I told.” Freya and Elijah were usually the people that Finn confided in first before anyone else and that wasn’t about to change.
Ah yes. Esther. She supposed it was more likely that she would just up and show up because she wanted answers. While their mother had yet to show up at the house she shared with Klaus, showing up at her office? Oh. Esther was fond of that one.
“You’ve obviously joined a cult.”
All things considered, Esther’s reaction to that would be hilarious. At least according to Freya. Still, she did grin some.
“Good.”
