Tyler really couldn’t get into much detail. He and Elena had known one another for forever, but they’d never been very close, outside of their mutual Caroline connection. It wasn’t his place to tell him about the weirdness of Mystic Falls, and it definitely wasn’t his place to tell her that Caroline was a vampire.
But, well, he guessed he didn’t need to get into much detail. “We’ve talked a little,” he said. Mostly in that Caroline had asked Tyler to spy on Elena and Damon, but that was better left unsaid. “But I know she’s still mad. I kept something from her. I know I shouldn’t have, but I couldn’t stand to see her hurting. And then she found out about it.” He really had kept a lot from her, now that he thought about it. The pain of her mother’s death. The fact that she was eventually going to turn into a vampire. The fact that he was a hybrid - something he’d still only admitted to half of.
