Who: Jeremy Gilbert and Steve Harrington
When: Backdated: Early April
Where: A street near the gym
What: Literally running into each other
Rating/Warnings: Family Friendly
Status: Complete

Jeremy was just leaving the gym, the first time he’d been there in a while, considering the recent batches of OC craziness, work and classes. He wanted to try and figure out a place in his schedule to go to the gym more often so that he could keep himself in shape. Sure, he worked out at home and ran with Dragon in the mornings, but there was so much more he could do at the gym that he couldn’t do at home.

Considering the gym wasn’t too far from the UC Irvine campus, Jeremy had actually left his car there and walked to the gym so now he was walking back towards the school and had taken out his phone to text Myrcella to let her know that he was on his way home.

Steve wasn’t going to let himself get by with only doing the minimal amount of workouts that his intramural basketball team did - he needed to do sports or else he started to go a little crazy. He had finished up with homework earlier and realized he had enough time to squeeze in a bit of a workout before he had to meet up with some friends. So, he left his apartment and decided to run to the gym with his duffel bag over his shoulder.

Too bad that when he made the turn he didn’t notice the guy also turning the corner with his head down and focused on his phone. Steve tried to stop and move, but force was pushing him forward and the two men collided. “Shit, shit, I’m sorry, dude, are you okay?” Steve just had a bit of a bruised bottom and couldn’t see any scrapes.

Jeremy really should listen to the people who say not to walk and look at your phone at the same time, because then he wouldn’t almost walk into people; not that it happened often, but there were the random occasions such as now when it did happen. “Yeah, sorry. Shit, that was my fault. Are you alright?” Without finishing the text, he closed his phone and slipped it into his pocket, “I should have been watching where I was going.”

Steve had tripped over his own feet after they collided as he stepped back and landed on his tailbone. He picked himself back up and dusted himself off - some days he was a bit of a klutz. Luckily it didn’t happen too often on the basketball court. “Yeah, I’m fine. And at least you didn’t walk into a giant pit or a fountain. I’ve seen those Youtube videos,” Steve commented with a bit of a laugh. At least walking into someone wasn’t as bad as injuring yourself by falling down a pit.

“I think I’d rather fall into a fountain. Cause while I’d be wet, at least there’d be less of a chance of getting hurt.” At least that was Jeremy’s theory. It seemed like a good theory after all. “Then again, my luck, I’d probably drown if I fell into a fountain.” It would be just his luck afterall, can fight and kill vampires, but would accidentally drown in a fountain. “I’m Jeremy, by the way.”

“I don’t know man, those fountains are shallow so you could probably break a bone,” Steve pointed out. He would probably break an ankle or something after tripping over the large stone pieces around the outside of the fountain, “And you’d probably have to buy a new phone if it isn’t water-proof. And drowning is a definitely not what you want to happen. I’m Steve, nice to meet you.” This was a bit of a weird first conversation, but he found far more amusing than weird.

Jeremy had definitely had weirder conversations before so it didn’t strike him as being too weird, “It’s probably a good thing that I try to steer clear of fountains then.” He shifted his own gym bag on his shoulder, “Nice to meet you too. Are you going to the gym down the street?” It was just a guess, judging by the bag Steve had over his shoulder.

“Fountains are pretty but dangerous, so that’s solid life advice. Yeah, I’m heading that way. Did you just come from there? Anything lurking in the shadows I should be aware of?” Steve couldn’t help but laugh. There most likely wasn’t anything, but might as well ask - thankfully this was a more safe part of the town.

“Yeah, I did,” Jeremy shook his head in response to the second question, smirking, “Nope. Nothing dark and sinister lurking in the shadows, so you should be alright.” Of course if there had been anything lurking in the shadows, chances were Jeremy probably could have taken care of it.

“Perfect, nothing worse than not being warned of a gang of west side dancers who want to have a dance off,” Steve couldn’t help but grin a little bit more at his comment. The idea of dancers trying to have a dance off with unsuspecting people wandering down the street was amazing and now he secretly wished it would happen. Maybe it could be one of those random weird things that happened spontaneously.

Jeremy couldn’t help but laugh at that mental image, “And would you win or lose that dance off?” Jeremy had never actually seen West Side Story, but he knew enough about it to know what happened, “And would anyone even believe you?”

“I don’t even know - I would probably lose,” Steve was more than ready to admit that he wasn’t the world’s greatest dancer. Professional dance gangs could totally kick his ass, “And no one would believe me! They’d all think I’m insane, but it’d be the best story ever.”

“It’d definitely be a conversation starter.” Jeremy’s phone vibrated in his pocket and he pulled it out to see a text from Myrcella, “I’ve gotta get going, but like I said, I think you’re safe from dancer gangs.”

“Thank you so much, dude, I appreciate,” Steve gave him a wave with his smile as he started to make his way in the opposite direction. At least that conversation hadn’t ended with someone wanting to hurt him for running into them. Jeremy seemed like a pretty cool dude and they might run into each other again in the future, but hopefully not literally.
