Klaus was in a very good mood tonight. How could he not be? He was at the opening of his gallery, surrounded by art - the most precious thing in the world. There was a permanent grin on the original hybrid’s face.
He was currently enjoying the work of Vladimir Kush when he noticed Lexi. He reluctantly tore his gaze from the surrealist painting and made his way over to the bubbly blonde grabbing two glasses of champagne on the way. “You look stunning,” he commented as he reached Lexi handing her one of the glasses.
Lexi was glad that things hadn’t gotten awkward between her and Klaus after their evil mistletoe kiss a few weeks earlier; not that much really phased Lexi. She was mostly a go with the flow type of person and it probably helped that she’d been familiar with the effects of the evil mistletoe compulsion, It was Klaus who was new to it all. Either way, there was no awkwardness so Lexi didn’t even think twice about deciding to go to his gallery opening.
As promised, she’d bought a new dress that accentuated all the right places and her long blond hair was loose and hanging down near the bottom of her back. Hearing Klaus’ voice, she smiled as she turned to the other hybrid and took the offered glass, “Why thank you. You don’t look half bad yourself.” She took a sip of champagne, smile still upon her lips.
As good as the dress looked on Lexi, Klaus couldn’t help but wonder what it would look like off. However, now was not the time or place for that. This was his gallery opening and he planned on savoring every moment of it. He merely smirked at her comment. He knew he looked good. He wasn’t the type to say thank you. “What’s your poison?” he asked instead. Although that was usually in reference to alcohol Klaus was referring to art. “Impressionism? Realism? Abstract?”
Still smirking, she took another sip of her champagne as she watched Klaus then turned her gaze towards the artwork, “I don’t really have a favorite. I just kind of like what I like.” She glanced back at him, “Does that make sense?” There were times when she’d see something abstract and find it extremely interesting and other time she’d see the same sort of painting and have absolutely no idea what the artist was going for. “What about you?”
“And what type do you usually like?” he asked with a raised brow. Of course he could understand liking whatever you liked. While Niklaus had a favorite genre that didn’t mean he liked that genre exclusively. Every form of art was incredible if you asked him. “I’ve always been partial to Impressionism,” he replied answering Lexi’s question. “The way the light moves across the canvas is incredible.”
Lexi thought about it for a moment, “If I had to pick a favorite, I think it’d be abstract. It’s always interesting to look at something and wonder exactly what the artist was trying to convey.” She liked the way he talked about art, “So is impressionism what you do most, yourself, or do you just paint in whatever style you’re feeling at the time?”
“It is,” he confirmed. “Although I do dabble in other styles from time to time.” But he always found himself going back to Impressionism. “Abstract art is always interesting,” he commented. He did quite enjoy that as well. “I have some over here,” he said placing his free hand on the small of Lexi’s back and guiding her to some abstract pieces.
Enjoying the feel of Klaus’ hand on her back, she let him lead her over to see his other pieces, “These are fantastic, Klaus.” She turned her head to smile at him, “I’m glad you’re getting the chance to show them off.”
“Thanks, love,” Klaus replied with a grin. “I’m glad you got a chance to come see them.” Everyone deserved a chance to experience incredible artwork. But not everyone knew where or how to. Part of why Niklaus chose to open a gallery.
