Myrcella had the afternoon free of clients and had arranged for Anna to come over, it had been a while since they had caught up and she was looking forward to having cake and a good gossip.
She’d baked since she liked to do that and Anna had said she would pick up coffee, since they deserved a treat and now all she had to do was wait for her friend.
Anna grabbed a couple of sugary coffees from her favorite coffee shop (thanks, Baxter Bakery!) and headed over to Myrcella’s house. It’d been a little while since she’d seen her good friend, but their friendship was strong enough that they didn’t have to text every day. They could go for a couple of weeks without talking and still be thick as thieves.
Anna knocked on the door with the toe of her boot, as her hands were full with the coffees!
Myrcella was glad she had a friend like Anna, since they were both so busy it worked well that they didn’t feel a need to interact everyday. Because honestly neither of them would have time for that.
Opening the door Myrcella smiled, “Oh come in, come in” she said ushering Anna in with a smile, “Oh you got the best coffee” she said upon seeing the cups.
“Thanks, Myrcella!” Anna would have given her friend a huge hug, but her hands were full of coffee cups. She beamed, holding up the cardboard cups. “Only the best for a girls’ day! Here!” She offered one to Myrcella. “I hope it’s okay. I like mine pretty sweet.”
“I am sure it’ll be perfect, I’ve never had a drink from Baxter’s that wasn’t amazing” Myrcella said taking the cup from Anna, “Come on through, I’ve made a cake which I am hoping Dragon has left alone” she grinned. Luckily Dragon was well trained and knew he’d get a little bit of cake if he was good so when they entered the living room the dog was lying lazily on the floor - cake untouched on the low table. The moment he saw Anna he rolled over for belly rubs, “You have no shame” Myrcella told him.
Anna brightened. Cake! Perfect! She followed after Myrcella enthusiastically. “I’m sure it’s delicious!” She grinned down at Dragon as they came near. Anna laughed and ducked down to scratch the dog’s tummy. “He’s such a sweetheart. Aren’t you? Aren’t you just a sweetheart?” Anna asked the dog, putting on that cutesy voice that so many people use when they talk to animals. “God, I wish we could have a dog.”
Myrcella enjoyed baking, she wasn’t a professional but cake and bread seemed to always turn out pretty well. Which she was glad of since both she and Jeremy loved cake. “He’s a big flirt” Myrcella said with a laugh, as Dragon looked like he was grinning at them as he got his belly rubbed. “I have to admit we’re lucky that I work from home, it makes looking after him a lot easier” she said, “I’d be lost without him now”
Anna couldn’t help but laugh at that. He was a big flirt, and she was absolutely caught in his spell. She rubbed the dog’s tummy, ears, and head, then finally drew her attention away from him and back to Myrcella. “I feel like I spend so little time at home. And with Stefan and his control issues? I dunno. It seems like it wouldn’t be fair.”
“Well you are always welcome to come over whenever you like if you need a doggie fix. He will always be happy to see you, for strokes or a walk or anything” Myrcella told her with a smile, she knew Dragon would love more attention. “Cake?” she added picking up the knife to cut them slices.
“Don’t tempt me!” Anna laughed. “I may just do both of those things.” She gave the dog one more pat, then turned to Myrcella. “I’d love a piece of cake! Thank you.” She moved to the sink to wash the dog off her hands before digging in to some delicious cake.
“Anytime” Myrcella simply said with a smile before cutting the cake and serving it. “So how are you? Tell me everything” she invited as Anna sat down and they could begin to properly chat, it was so good to have a girls afternoon.
Anna gave a deep breath as she sat down, then proceeded to tell Myrcella everything.
