Who: Felix Dawkins and Eliot Waugh
When: Backdated: Mid January
Where: Felix's Apartment
What: Eliot cooks and work talk
Rating/Warnings: Family Friendly
Status: Complete

Eliot didn’t cook for a lot of people. Or at least not the type of cooking he was doing tonight for Felix. But he figured if anybody deserved a special no reason dinner it was his boyfriend. They’d both been working their asses off over the holidays and then his sister and niece moving back to England - yeah Felix deserved a little spoiling in Eliot’s mind and he was going to make sure he got it tonight. No phones, no work, no Margo (as much as he loved her sometimes he needed a night without her) pouncing in to join them the next morning with coffee.

He was humming along with the radio as he added the wine to the sauce, not paying attention to anything other than the stove right in front of him. Some people did yoga to get in the zone - Eliot got there through cooking.

***

Felix had been so busy with work during the holidays and after that it hadn’t really hit him how much he missed Sarah and Kira until it had all died down a little after New Year’s, but now he had more time to think and more time to spend alone in the apartment and while it had only been a few weeks, the apartment already felt so empty without them. Of course Felix wasn’t really alone; he still had Cosima and Jemma and of course Eliot and Margo.

Tonight it was Eliot who was over, making him dinner as he had done a few times over the last few weeks and Felix was extremely grateful to him for it. Felix didn’t exactly cook, so it was good that Eliot did otherwise Felix would be going back to primarily ordering take away like he’d done before Sarah had moved to Orange County.

Tonight, upon getting home, Eliot had started cooking while Felix went to take a quick shower and change. Once dried off and clothed, Felix headed out to the kitchen, wrapping his arms around Eliot’s waist from behind as he reached his boyfriend, “Mmm, that smells good.” He said, resting his chin on Eliot’s shoulder.

***

Eliot turned his head when he heard Felix’s voice, kissing his cheek softly. “I’m glad you think so. I haven’t made this recipe in a while. Feeling better after your shower?” He knew how stressful work was for both of them and sometimes the best feeling in the world for him was a hot shower. A chance to just relax under the hot water and not have to think for a few minutes about anything.

***

Felix smiled as Eliot kissed his cheek, “I do. This Henderson wedding just might be the death of me,” Felix had worked with a number of bridezillas, but it was possible that this bride might take the cake. Releasing Eliot, Felix turned towards the fridge, “Want a beer? Or wine?” Felix didn’t have a preference either way when it came to alcohol, but he knew that Eliot could be a little picky about it.
***

“I almost feel bad for her poor husband and then I remember - he picked her.” Eliot said trying to make him smile. He faked a pout when Felix stepped away, humming a little as he pretended to think. “The sauce needs wine and I will take a beer.” He was trying not to be too picky but he’d probably drink both.

***

Felix grabbed two beers from the fridge and set them on the counter closest to Eliot then went to grab the wine as well, “I can’t help but wonder if these women act like this before they get engaged or if the wedding planning is when the men see this side of them for the first time.” He set the wine down beside the beers then reached for a bottle opener and popped the tops off both beer bottles, “If I were ever with someone who acted as mad as these women do, I might rethink the entire wedding.” Not that Felix had to worry about ever having to deal with a bridezilla of his own, exactly, but he had never really run into quite the same situation with any of the gay weddings he had planned.

***

Eliot grinned at him. “No doubt about it. I’d be running for the hills if I was with someone who acted like that over one day. No matter how special that day is.” He knew he could be a bit dramatic at times but never to bridezilla level. “I like to think that my dramatic tendencies never come anywhere near that level.” He grabbed the wine, eyeballing it as he added it to the sauce before setting it back on the counter. “And she might have ended up on my list of clients I won’t work for in the event of a second marriage.”

***

“Don’t worry, love, your dramatic tendencies don’t even come close to hers.” Felix loved everything about Eliot and that included his dramatic tendencies because they made him who he was and it helped that Felix could also be rather dramatic at times so they balanced each other out, “I don’t blame you. I’m pretty sure they’re going on my list of clients not to work with again. I can only imagine what she’d want for a baby shower or other party.” Felix already felt bad for her future kids.

***

“Just from what you’ve said about her I’m already convinced she’s one of those pageant mom’s in the making. If that show Toddlers and Tiaras was still on she’d be one of the moms on it.” Eliot grabbed his beer and took a drink, turning around to face his boyfriend as he leaned against the counter near the stove. His boss in New York had been obsessed with that show so he’d had to learn a lot about it. “When you’re past this wedding. We’ll do something to celebrate you being free of her. How’s that sound?”

***

Felix laughed and took another swig of beer, “God help her kids.” Honestly, they were going to need therapy or become sociopaths. “That sounds bloody fantastic.” He was definitely looking forward to this wedding being over and done with so that he could get a little peace for a little while.

***

“Just leave all the arrangements to me. It’ll be perfect.” Eliot said leaning over to give him a kiss before turning his attention back to the stove.
