As an engagement present Myrcella’s family had sent a number of gifts and among them had been vouchers to a high end restaurant, it wasn’t really a place they’d choose themselves but since they had the gift they’d decided to book a table for Valentine’s.
Myrcella had done a morning of treatments for those wanting to look special for the day but then she’d made sure nothing was scheduled for most of the afternoon so she could get ready too. She had a new dress and was really looking forward to going out, “Ready?” she asked Jeremy as she moved to get their coats from the hook in the hall.
Jeremy had actually been surprised at how many gifts Myrcella’s family had sent for their engagement, but he wasn’t going to complain; especially not when one of those gifts were vouchers to a local restaurant that was rather pricey and he would never go to otherwise. Since Valentine’s Day was just around the corner when they had received them, they had decided to wait and use them then.
Other than going out to dinner, Jeremy had had roses delivered to the house that morning for Myrcella and they were now on display on the dining room table.
It hadn’t taken Jeremy as long to get ready as Myrcella and he had been sitting on the couch, checking his phone when he heard her question. “Yeah.” He said as he got to his feet and turned to look at her, “Wow. You look great.” Not that she didn’t always look great of course.
Myrcella wished she had been surprised but her mother had always been the sort to spoil her children and she supposed this was her way of doing that. Not that Myrcella minded, they would make use of everything that had been sent and the vouchers did mean they were about to head out to a lovely meal.
“Thank you” she beamed at him, “I was hoping it would be worth me making you wait” she teased him as she handed him his jacket and leaned up to press a kiss to his lips.
Jeremy smiled and kissed her back, “It was definitely worth the wait.” He laced their fingers together and led Myrcella towards the door, glad that Dragon was sleeping so that they could get out of the house without their dog getting worked up.
Once outside, Jeremy pressed the unlock button on his key fob, but instead of just getting into the driver’s seat, he led Myrcella around to the passenger seat and opened the door for her.
Myrcella smiled as she was led the the car, grinning at Jeremy as he opened the door, “Thank you, kind sir” she teased a little before getting in.
The drive to the restaurant wasn’t too far but she was glad Jeremy was doing the driving, while she had passed her test she still wasn’t very confident behind the wheel and much preferred it when somebody else drove.
“You’re welcome, my lady.” Jeremy smiled and waited until Myrcella was in the car then closed the door and walked around to the driver’s side and got in, “So how did your parents decide on this place? Did they google, expensive restaurants in Orange County?” Sure, Myrcella’s mother had lived in the county for a little while, but he didn’t think they’d gone out to expensive dinners a lot during that time.
“Basically I think so” Myrcella said with a grin as she looked at Jeremy, “You know what mum is like, did I tell you in her latest email she’s dropping hints about buying us a new car?” Myrcella loved her mum but she was a bit much sometimes. Considering she had grown up in such a wealthy family Myrcella actually had a healthy appreciation of money and earning it.
“Seriously? What did you tell her?” Jeremy’s car was one of his parents’ old cars so he had a bit of an attachment to it and wasn’t really sure what he thought of the idea of a new car.
It didn’t take long to reach the restaurant and as they pulled into the parking lot it was clear that this was a popular place to come for Valentine’s Day.
“I dropped my own hints that we’re fine with what we have. I mean I don’t drive much at all and this car is still perfectly fine” she said, patting the car’s dash affectionately. While Myrcella had passed her driving test she worked from home most days and even when she didn’t she preferred to use public transport. For everything else Jeremy drove them and he was a much better driver than she was. “Unless you’re interested?” Myrcella had just kind of assumed not.
Jeremy smiled as Myrcella patted the dash and turned off the car after pulling into a space, “I’ll think about it. I’m kind of attached to this car.” It wasn’t a secret that it had been his parents’ car, so he didn’t have to explain his attachment. “But, having a new car doesn’t mean we’d have to get rid of this one.” It was definitely something to think about.
“That’s true” Myrcella nodded, a newer car could perhaps mean they could take some longer road trips maybe. “Well we can think about it before I reply to her again, you know what mum is like the moment I sound interested she’ll be having one delivered to us” she grinned.
Jeremy laughed and nodded, “Yeah, I know how she is.” Leaning over, he gave her a quick kiss then reached for his door handle, “Ready for dinner? I’m not gonna lie, I’m really looking forward to checking this place out.” Jeremy never went to expensive restaurants, so this was going to be fun.
“I am so ready. This is going to be great” Myrcella said with a grin, as she opened her door and stepped out. Knowing the bill was already taken care of was definitely going to help them relax and enjoy it much more. Taking Jeremy’s hand they entered the restaurant and were seated immediately in a lovely section.
