Pyrrha was, in a word, nervous. She didn’t think she had any reason to be, but it wasn’t every day you were meeting your dream crush team leader for lunch. She wasn't even sure how much he remembered. Or did it really matter?
What if he wasn’t as cute in person, or as kind hearted? What if he didn’t like her? Or hated her?
She put on a front of confidence and walked into the coffee shop.
Jaune didn't work at the cafe yet, but he might as well have considering the amount of time he spent there. It had gotten to the point where his coffee was already made by the time he'd gone gotten to the counter, and all he needed to do was pay.
Of course today, in honor of Valentine's day, there was a gigantic heart drawn in the foam at the top. And he'd come for lunch, not coffee, but he didn't have the heart to tell them so. There he sat, at a table somewhere in the back, eyeing a lunch menu with a steaming cappuccino in front of him. He didn't feel that nervous.
Mainly he was hoping he didn't do anything stupid. Pyrrha was instantly recognizable when she came in, and he waved at her. "Pyrrha! Over here!"
She turned and spotted him, then her smile lit up the room. She didn’t even need an arrow for that. Just like when she’d met Nora and Ren, she felt like she’d come home. It was a welcome feeling, and she had to stop herself from staring at the boy who was her partner and her crush.
Not that he’d ever noticed. Or that he’d ever notice. She sighed, her enthusiasm dampened somewhat, but kept her smile on as she approached. “Hello again!”
There was a time when Jaune Arc would notice, but alas for them both it would be far too late. At least, in another life. In this one there was still a chance. Though for the moment, the boy really was oblivious.
"Do you want a cappuccino? They made this one for me because I always get one, but I wasn't really in the mood for coffee this time." He said, as she approached. He motioned towards the big mug on the table, "They put a heart in it, isn't that cute? Because, you know, Valentine's day and everything."
“It’s really cute.” She always enjoyed the way that Jaune kind of babbled. It was an endearing trait, and one of the first she’d noticed about him. He could babble all day.
“I’ll have one, but what did you really want? I’ll buy it for you.”
Something zinged through the air, and she glanced behind her.
Whatever zinged through the air left a sort of reddish-pink trail behind it as it quickly zipped through Pyrrha and then Jaune. He blinked down at his chest, then over at Pyrrha, looking for any sign of injury, but there was none. There was only Pyrrha, in her perfectly put together, amazingly... gorgeous... Jaune couldn't stop staring at her, actually.
His cheeks flushed, and he let out a nervous chuckle, "You're really amazing, did you know that? Whatever that was, I think it shot itself straight through my heart."
Pyrrha turned back towards him. While she’d always found him cute and nursed a crush, her feelings had suddenly deepened to a level that had previously only existed in the dreams. And he was looking at her the way she’d always imagined he would.
“I’m not that amazing, Jaune, you are.”
If Jaune's eyes could turn into the shapes of hearts, they would have. He abruptly got up from his seat and did a little bow, then motioned her towards the other chair. Which he pulled out for her. "No, you really are amazing. Let me get this chair for you, my beautiful goddess."
“Oh, you don’t need to!” Pyrrha giggled, covering her hand with her mouth. She wondered if she was dreaming, because her dreams were coming true. She had to throw her arms around his shoulder and kiss him.
It was Jaune's first kiss if a few on the cheek from his family didn't count, which he figured it didn't. Mostly because none of them had felt at all like fireworks going off and being struck by lightning, which was exactly what this felt like.
He kind of never wanted it to end, actually, but it wasn't like he could breathe through his ears. SO eventually he broke it, giggling a bit. "Oh wow..."
It felt like she’d been waiting forever. Pyrrha nuzzled her nose against Jaune’s, giving him a mooney expression. “It feels like destiny…”
She’d forgotten where they were or what they were doing, in the face of all this manly man.
"It feels like amazing and sparkles," Jaune decided, nuzzling her cheek back. She still had an arm around him, and he decided to put his around her, too. "I just really think I love you, Pyrrha."
Someone a few tables over, completely tired of this display of affection, groused, "Get a ROOM, you two!"
Pyrrha rounded on the man, eyes flashing like the dangerous huntress she actually was. “You know what, maybe we will!”
After all, it was a lot easier to make-out without an audience. She grabbed Jaune’s hand. “Come on, I’m sure Diana won’t mind…”
As long as they stuck to making out, anyway.
Jaune took Pyrrha's hand, giving the man a look that only came off half threatening in the face of his partner's ire. "... Yeah! We're GONNA get a room. So there!"
His free hand made the universal 'mic drop' gesture, and he motioned for Pyrrha to lead on.
